Motivate me to stop prevaricating and get cleaning!

I'm prevaricating and finding other stuff to do like Mumsnetting.

DS has a friend over after school. They're still young, so friend's mum is coming round to have a coffee and a chat at the same time. This is a good thing as I'm relatively new to the area and she has been really nice. Now I'm terrified and on the brink of cancelling.

For a whole variety of reasons, the house is a mess... okay, if I'm honest I'm lazy, I've let things slide (SAHM for the moment) in favour of Sky boxsets. There are still boxes not unpacked from when we moved in July (not totally my fault, we had to move out due to a burst pipe, but still!).

I need to clean the whole house (I know what needs done!) and get my arse into gear once I'm back from the school run.

I'm planning the power of 15 (so 15 minutes cleaning one room, 15 minutes the next, 15 minutes the 3rd, then 15 minutes coffee break) plus 45 minutes for lunch.

But for god's sake... tell me I can do this, to stop buggering about on here and go sort out DS's school kit, empty the dishwasher before school and put on a bit of slap so I don't look like a zombie in a famine!

Your mission. - should you choose to accept it - is,

When you get back from school forget that you Mrs PhoenixRises-ownerOfMessyHouse. Your are now Mrs EverSo-JudgySnob residing at 4CleanersAndANannyHouse.

Open the door, what strikes you. Does your house smell what do you see in the first moments. That is where you start your 15 minutes.

Follow the trail that you, as MrsEverSoJudgySnob, will be taking

. Where is she partaking of Coffee, will she trail you to the kitchen, need the loo, watch the children play in a room?

With the laser gun that you will find in this package, blitz through the trail that she is likely to take, hiding things, cleaning things, spraying polish, and generally checking and judging as you go.

This message will self destruct in..10.. 9..8 Pfffff

Then you and your very nice friend can relax.

So funny florentina!
Hi PhoenixRises--happy to do some 15 minute slots alongside you as I have plenty to do too ( and don't feel like any of it!) but you can do anything for 15 minutes!

Forgot to add, here is your secret weapons.................

Huge bin bags, if cannot be cleaned, or put away, your only choice is to hide it in a cupboard in a black sack.

Also as my DiL once said to her DM,

"It is the welcome on the mat that is important, not the dirt on the floor"

Backstory, she moved 2 days prior to giving birth. Her mum arrives and before she even looks at the baby, she asks for a cloth. "Have you been outside" she asked. When my DiL said she had, she asked her if she had not noticed all the cobwebs and dirt around the front door.

We all know what your priorities are, arriving at home from hospital to a house with new baby, toddler and packing cases.

Right. Done one room, and started on a second. Have also in a weird coincidence brushed down the outside front windows to get rid of the cobwebs as that was the first thing I saw when I drew up. The sooner I get rid of the sheddy wispy plants in the front in the springtime, the happier I will be!

Going to have a coffee now. Planning to use crates and stuff a load of stuff in a couple of rooms where the door will not be opened... ie my bedroom and the study where DH works.

Have lit a few smelly candles and am wiping down with a damp cloth with a touch of Zoflora in a similar scent, so the house should smell nice at least!

Well done
Have got a bit distracted with texts from friends but made a good start on DS2's room at least.

What are you going to watch

Working my way through Elementary as I missed it due to DS's sleeping habits which meant I slept when I could and that I was rarely awake after 8pm! Grin

Well, most of it's done. She's not coming straight after school so I've done the rooms the boys will use and then I'll do the rest while they play. God I'm knackered!

Just put some nice music for a good background, something to get you moving :D I'm quite lazy myself and this is how I get going - I make it fun. A glass of wine can be helpful as well.

I found the perfect motivation for cleaning! Watching episode of Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners then I feel like I must clean stuff! Watched the first 10 mins ( the bit where they show the OCD person!) then decluttered the breakfast bar ( dumping ground!) and cleaned all worktops, swept the living room floor and cleaned it!!
Then Ds and I blitzed his room, including wiping all surfaces and tidied all clothes away!

It's genius I tell you!
