Vanish Gold for whites - worth it?

School polo tops are white and crested. They were big for him last year and now fit.

Managed to keep them in good condition during the year with the Oxi stuff from the pound shop. However he managed to get black paint on one of then in the last week.

Have the stain out mostly. It's been handing out in the sun for three weeks now and stains practically gone but it's all a bit off white now.

This is a long winded way of asking if the Vanish Gold claim to make it whiter holds any credibility before I go and get some!

In a word...no.
Vanish is just a more concentrated oxi bleach, which is already in bio washing powder anyway.
