How loud are chest freezers?

I'd love more freezer space but we have nowhere obvious to put it. Our options are: in the corner of the dining room or getting rid of our little freezer & removing the counter. The easiest place would be in the dining room but I'm worried the noise would be unbearable. We only really use the room for eating in or playing the piano. Are chest freezers really noisy? Would turning it off for a hour occasionally so we could it in peace work?

We have one and cant say i've ever heard it, but then it lives in the garage!
