Has anyone got/had a Beko fridge freezer? Are they any good?

Going to have to give in and buy a new fridge freezer. Very little space means I'm limited to one 55cm wide so there isn't much choice. The Beko ones seem to have a lot of features for the money - are they any good? Or am I better off getting a known brand?

they're quite inexpensive, so I am always surprised when some of them (not all) score well in Which. I'm a Bosch enthusiast.

It does vary by model. If you have one in mind someone can look it up. Or in your local library you can read their reference copies for nothing.

If you're not spending much, avoid a frost-free freezer, it is the feature that seems to go wrong most often.

Our fridge freezer is a Beko. It is almost 13 years old and we have never had any trouble with it (famous last words). Friend next door also has a Beko and says it's great. The last two years theirs has been in an uninsulated porch which gets really cold in winter and has the sun shining directly in during summer, they also have had no problems with theirs.

Ah, frost free was something I was looking for. The one we've got frosts up regularly and we've broken the drawers because they've got stuck.

Is that frost free on all makes or just beko?

We have a beko American thing bloody big had a few issues with it in the beginning, the flap that stops the cold air coming down when you don't need ice has broke twice, the control panel once and the whole left door once and the pipe which feeds the ice maker froze up oh and the fan which circulates the cold air from the freezer to the fridge bust.
But after all that thank god for insuring the bloody thing
Nothing has broke for a good while and I do love it really Grin

Heard they are good, friends used them, no problems at all.

all makes. There is very little to go wrong on a simple freezer, but frost free are notorious for choking with ice, and then they don't get cold enough.

When it happens, you need a very long manual defrost to dry them out, because the ice blockage is in ducts behind the back wall of the cabinet.

like most things, the more complexity it has, the more there is to go wrong. A simple machine from a good maker is more reliable than top of the range from a poor one.

Had my beko frost free fridge freezer for two years and no problems as yet.
Was reluctant to post this though as I feel like a may be tempting fate Confused

I heard that beko buy up older specs from other brands and manufacture from that. Our beko fridge freezer is great and looks suspiciously similar to another brand, but it'll have been made in a different factory.

Our beko dishwasher is a which best buy. I don't think it's good enough to justify that actually, but it's fine. We've owned several beko fridges and freezers over the years and sold on every single one of them (due to changing kitchen configurations), we've not had one fail yet. Like Lifesalemom says though, I shouldn't tempt fate. Our latest is only 8 months old!

Had mine for 17 years, seal just going though, so hopefully will last for a bit more til we can afford a new one.

Had our previous beko for 10 years and it was still going strong (survived 2 moves) when we replaced with another beko. Seem to be good value and quality

They are good, we like them & have general found that there's plenty of space inside compared to other models- Had our last one for 12 years before the seal went.

Our new one is also a Beko, but a different model as that's what was available to buy this time round & we have limited space - This one has a water dispenser in the door - we like that, but not so much the loss of door storage space & the way it's organised & not adjustable - so do think carefully about how you use things like that & get what suits your needs.

We've had a bit of trouble with water build up in the fridge this time round, but otherwise it's okay - liked our old one better though

We bought one of eBay for just over £100. It was only about a year old. It's fine. Does the job.

I guess my only complaint it that the freezer drawers don't slide in and out very easily. One then crashed on the floor and the perspex cracked which was a bit annoying.

Pretty much positive then. Thank you all so much, very helpful.

I've just bought one of their freezers specifically for the garage as they are pretty much the only people who do them. Seems fine - only weird thing is that the temp control is on the outside but at the back so you have to get the bloody thing out if you need to adjust it - fortunately we haven't needed to. What idiot thought that was a good piece of design?

We've got a beko fridge/freezer and a washing machine.
Cheap as chips and had no problems.

We have one. The thermostat had to be replaced under guarantee, but it's been fine other than that.

We had one previously and that was fine. We only had to get rid of it because it was damaged during the house flood.

Velvet I was in the same position - needed a 55cm fridge freezer. Beko aren't my favourite brand so went for a Liebherr 55cm Cup SL 3021. £419 at Curry's. top German brand specialising in refrigeration and well designed inside. didn't get frost free to keep cost down.Smile Smile

I bought one with my ex 17 years ago and, according to the photos on Right Move, he still has it 10 years after we split.

We have one that was already ancient when DH moved to his own house in 2000. It spent 7 years living outside in a lean-to and is still going strong now.

We have washing machine fridge and will have freezer and dryer when our present ones break.
They are really good and inexpensive.
We used to have Bosch but fancied a change this time and my sis gets staff discount so this helped Grin
I was pleasantly surprised though, the washer is so economical and works really well.
Can't praise enough and are on year 2 of washer and year 1 of fridge.

Are you buying new or used? Only the fridge freezer was recalled a few years ago because the freezer bit caught fire. You can probably ring Beko and check the serial number.

We've had a Beko fridge for ages and it's fine. We've also got a Beko dishwasher and that's pretty good too.
