Emergency - have "coooked" glass cover on electric hob

Ok totally my own stupid fault.

I had a glass toughened glass cover on my hob which I use when I want extra work surface. I left it on the hob because I was not using it but I accidently switched on one of the hot plates and only realised when it went bang and shattered the glass cover. Didnt even smell it until the deed was done.

Switched all off. Have removed glass cover ( and glass fragments and now have a white mucky mess on the hob plate. Not sure how to tackle it.
Clearly it is glass and some sort of plastic?

Can someone suggest what I can clean the hob plate up with?

Electric hob. solid plate with a red " hot spot" thing in the middle. ( not ceramic or open ring).

Please dont tell me how stupid I am. I know. I just need help cleaning it off now.

Hob is currently still cooling.

Thak you.

Contact the manufacturer - you won't be the first or last person to do this. I wouldn't do anything without their advice in case you damage the hot plate and cause hot spots, etc.

Do you have accidental damage cover on your home insurance? If you cannot clean the mess off you may be looking at making a claim to replace the hob.

Fwiw I would have thought there would be some sort of cut off mechanism in the hob to stop this happening - I've never had a cooker with a hob cover because they have never struck me as a very good idea, but no, you are not stupid: accidents happen.
