I'm not the best person to comment as I dont have a regular routine. I squirt toilet cleaner down, leave for a while then scrub with a toilet brush and flush. I wipe round the rest of it with antibacterial wipes and throw them in the bin.

Anti bac wipes for seat, loo cleaner & brush. I do the downstairs loo every day & the others every other day.

I have become a bit obsessed with loo-cleanliness lately. I tried Parozone limescale fizz tabs for the first time (you leave them in the bowl overnight) and they are great if you have nasty limescale that won't come off. I had tried everything else.
I also use the Parozone flushable wipes as have 2 young DS's and the loo and tiles around need to be wiped several times a day....also use toilet duck and/or gel stripes/or hangy thing.

I use mr muscle touch n fresh with loo roll now. Fresh disc in the loo. Squirt bleach round the rim twice a week.

Flash bathroom cleaner and kitchen roll, bleach, toilet brush if necessary - once a week. Live in soft water area so thankfully no limescale issues.

Throw bleach down and use parazone flushable wipes when needed in between.

It cleans itself every time we flush. Use soap and water to clean seat etc. once a week use cleaning liquid and brush in bowl and around the rim.
Spend far more time cleaning kitchen surfaces, tap handles and door handles where dirty hands are likely to leave bacteria and nasties.
Bleach is much more effective at killing bacteria etc when it is diluted so thin bleach is better than the gloppy stuff. It also has to be left on surfaces wet for over 10 mins for any effect.
Also if you pour bleach into the loo and leave put the lid down it is deactivated by light, that's why it comes in dark opaque bottles.

Interesting about it only working in light.

soap and water in a bucket to wipe seat and other bits then pour it down, quick scrub with the loo brush and flush, about once a week.

My toilet gets disgusting

Neither dp, dc1 or dc2 seem to get things in the right place!

Yuck

Spray all over with bleach spray - cistern, outside lid, inside lid, top of seat, under seat, rim and bowl
Give it a good scrub with a cloth
Bin cloth
Squirt toilet duck around rim
Leave for as long as possible then scrub with toilet brush
Flush and put in toilet block

I do this as and when it is disgusting

I bleach it after every poo

We have only one bathroom for five people. I clean it daily. I might be a bit obsessed but the thought of a dirty loo is grim to me. Going against MN grain, I own a loo brush, use it daily and change it monthly. Spray bleach the hard surfaces. Steam mop the floor.

I personally think that loo brushes are vile and we do not own one.

we put bleach round the rim after every poo and wipe with antibacterial wipes daily.

I dont use the loo brush on poo though, just for scrubbing the toilet after the toilet cleaner has been put down. I use toilet roll for the occasional skid in the bowl. A bit OTT for bleach after every poo though.

I use detail spray on toilet roll and clean the seat daily.

I also pour bleach around the rim everyday or two.

Always use bloo's too

I definitely am a slattern.

Blush Am also a bit shocked at so many people doing it every day. After every poo? Isn't that horrendous for the environment or are you all very conservative pooers?

I want to know how often I should be cleaning the floor around the toilet. Seem okay with the toilet itself being done once or twice a week but the floor is horrendous to the point that a dropped toothbrush gets changed for a new one.

What do you use (product, utensil) and how do you get to the tricky bits behind the loo?

Report
BertieBotts · 03/08/2014 23:57

Also how do you avoid bathroom DUST? It seems to get everywhere and then goes all grubby when it gets soggy. Yuck.

Is it the dust from your loo rolls? Some really shed a lot of fibres each tear of the sheet.

Report
BertieBotts · 04/08/2014 07:32

Hmm, maybe, but you wouldn't expect it to permeate every corner, would you?

Report
Icelollycraving · 04/08/2014 07:53

People brushing their hair can create dust. Do you use dry shampoo sprays? They are a nightmare for dust.
