Washing machine "quick" wash - what do you use it for?

My machine has two "quick" washes - a 29 and a 44 minute wash.

I rarely use them; I tend to go for either the 2hr 40 degree wash or the slightly shorter 30 degree wash.

So, what do you use them for?

My washing machine has a 15 minute wash. I put the children's lunch boxes through it every Friday. Other than that I don't use it.

I use my 30 min wash for most things tbh!

I use it for dd's little comfort blanket. It's nice and quick so doesn't notice it's gone by the time it's washed and dried.

Bath mats, shoes sometimes and DD's kitchen booster seat. Gets off the dried-on weetabix.

Very small loads that I need to do for some reason. Or when I have left a load in the machine for a day that has been washed that I haven't hung out to dry! Eg if it starts raining heavily - we have a tiny house and the clothes horse takes up too much room.

I use our 15 min wash to rehash stuff that has been through a wash with a tissue Angry. Clean, but needs re washing to get rid of the bits

30 min wash for everything if it's not too dirty.

Except whites which are always done on a whites at 60 load.

Mine has a very short wash (20 minutes) and a short wash (28 minutes). The very short gets used for things like dusters. The short wash we use for normal light clothing, or if we need something washed asap.

But our normal wash is 1h30, so we usually use that.

I use our 50 min "quick" wash for most things - either hot for sheets & towels or cold for everything else. I dunno what I'd use the 15 min wash for? Maybe swimming costumes?

Unless things are filthy then they get the full 2hr job.

Mine has a 15 min cycle that I use for lightly soiled clothes, rinsing out swimming stuff etc. The regular 40C cycle is about an hour, 60C cycle is about 90 mins, I only use this for sheets and towels. I would struggle with a standard cycle as long as yours as i like to get the washing done and hung out before going to work.

Ours has a 14 minute wash!! I use it to rinse towels and costumes after swimming.

I use the 30 min quick wash for everything except baby stuff. We have a special 'Baby & Toddler Wash' setting and it makes all her stuff so lovely :)

Interesting. DH and I both work in offices, so we're not "dirty" at the end of the day, but equally I wouldn't wear the top again.

I'm going back to work almost full time next month, so it would make sense to be able to wash things on the quicker wash first thing in the morning and then get it hung out. DS's stuff will probably still need the full boil wash Wink

Use quick wash for light clothing and things we need in a hurry plus to rinse swimming stuff. I too often wash things before work so I can hang it out. I usually follow it with a short spin or the washing is quite wet.

I wash most of my stuff on the quick wash, dresses and skirts etc. I use most of the programmes on my machine. I wash Dhs stuff on a longer and hotter wash, towels and bedding on a hot wash.

My machine even has a steam refresh.

Quick was for stuff that just needs freshening up - tops that have been worn once or twice, bedding that someone has slept on for one night.

For the odd bit of clothing that just needs freshening, swimming stuff sometimes. Stuff I need quickish. My normal 30° wash is 3hrs long so not immensely practical.

I use it for the swimming stuff (without detergent) and mop head after cleaning.

I use the 30 minute wash for most things. All the clothes for the family. Towels go on a full wash, but 30 minutes is fine for everything else!

I chuck my running bra, top and leggings in for a 15 min wash after getting in. Did DD2's tiedyed 'wash separately' T shirt in it yesterday.

CarpeJugulum · 20/07/2014 08:42

Right, 28 min (plus extra spin) it is then! I don think it's designed to take quite as a big a load, but if it's just daily stuff, then I don't really care.

My washer has a 20 minute wash, I use it for swimming things, and also clothes which have been worn but don't really need washing. There's a separate programme for shirts which is about 50 minutes.

Love the idea of a baby and toddler wash - In you go! Grin

my quick wash function says only to use 2kg of clothing which isnt much at all.

Report

We have a 15 minute 30 degree one or a 20 minute 40 degree one.
I use it for emergency stains,
swimming stuff,
school uniforms midweek,
Lunch bags,
Picnic blankets,
Buggy stuff,
Stuff which isn't really meant to be washed,
Teddy's,
tea towels,
stuff that DD put in the basket that I suspect is clean or only been worn for 5 mins,
Things that have been on the line that a bird has pood on,
if someone needs something ASAP.

I use it often, if you could do a full load in 15 mins I would.
