Best way to clean windows?

I am hoping to have a bit of a Spring Clean over Easter and my windows are in particular need of some TLC both inside and out. Which products and methods would you recommend to get the best results with the least effort??!

Warm water with a squirt of detergent. Use a sponge to wash the glass and a squeegie to dry it without smears.

I used to use lots of kitchen towel and window cleaner. It was a right faff.

someone introduced me to soapy water followed by an e cloth. revolutionary. And some how they stay cleaner.

Those e cloths are some kind of magic.

My nan swears by using any old glass cleaning spray and then using newspaper to clean. I've tried it a few times, when I could be arsed, and it does get them nice and clean.

I have turned into my nan.

Windolene and a clean cloth to wash, followed by drying with an old newspaper. It doesn't leave any fluffy bits like a cloth or kitchen towel would, and windows / mirrors very shiny. I think I read something about it relating to the ink, but no idea if that is true.

On the recommendation of my mum, I bought a Karcher window vac. Tis brill! And the colour of the water was indescribable.

I asked a professional ie a window cleaner, they basically use washing up liquid and a product that dampens down the suds.

I used to use all manner of things in the past, then just did what GinAndSlimlinePlease does, warm soapy water followed by a proper glass e cloth.

I also clean the UPVC with UPVC cleaner every 6 months too.
