40 bags in 40 days...anyone doing this or want to join me?

I read about this a few days ago and should have started on Wednesday but the children have been off all week and it's pointless trying to sort anything out while they're here (only one DS of my own but look after several others).

Today, my goal is to fill a minimum of 4 bags and get them out of the house.

Anyone want to join me?

McPheet - I hope you raise lots of cash Smile

Madasa - hmm, don't give me ideas Grin. I'm going to start with carrier bags and may move on to black bags if I'm going well.

I'm all for decluttering - but don't forget that they are bringing in a bag tax so you might need to hold onto those plastic bags!

I'm in Wales and have had to pay for carrier bags for a couple of years so am quite careful about letting them go BlushGrin. However, I think this is a good enough reason to splash out Grin...especially as the ones we pay for in the supermarket are crap quality and not good for anything much at all Hmm.

I'm in (and believe me I never usually venture into GH threads Blush).

Todays bag was foil for recycling. We might go to the tip tomorrow, got some tatty old cushions for the rag bag.

I'm in. Got various bags of clothes to sort for charity/rags/keep, will encourage me to get them out of the house. We need the room or DS won't have anywhere to crawl!

Two bags of assorted rubbish from clearing out bedroom today, 38 to go...

Welcome, everyone! Glad to have some company Smile

Meglet - me neither but desperate times call for desperate measures Grin

Loughrigg - well done! I'm still getting myself ready to start and today is nearly finished Blush

Dita - fill a bag a day for 40 days with things for the charity shop/recycling/rubbish. I suggested it to DS and he didn't look impressed so will have to start on my own clutter stuff then hope it encourages him to join me.

Smudging - thanks for the encouragement! Sounds like it's worked well for you...I hope it has similar results on this house.

Todays haul. 1 bag of rubbish from the car Blush. Although I now also have a bag of car clutter to sort through in the house, think it's mostly cd's so it can be tidied away.

1 bag of rags for the tip and 1 bag of old toys for the charity shop, now waiting in the car and will be dropped off this week.

Hmm, not doing so well at keeping this up here! Got stack of clothes to go to charity waiting, but not actually got around to taking it. Won't have chance tomorrow so will be aiming for 4 bags on Thursday.

I'm in, although my DDs have another couple of weeks of holiday (southern hemisphere), tomorrow I can do the glass recycling, and DD2's clothes.

AdoraBell · 20/02/2013 01:05

in fact I'm going to clear the glass from the kitchen before I go to bedGrin

Clothes sorted out, will drop them off next time I go into town, along with the glass jars and bottles. Our recycling isn't collected here.

Okay, five bags of clothes/shoes recycled. That makes me 7 down, 33 to go. Not sure what to tackle tomorrow. Maybe I should get DP on the case.

Mind you, having dropped off recycling have now popped in to Ikea. Oops. Am only getting stuff to organise clutter in cupboards better though.

How's everyone else doing? Dita - well impressed with 16 bags!

Today we went out, so nothing decluttered yet. I'll tackle my wardrobe after dinner.

Ooh didn't realise there was a thread about this! We've been doing this. Managed 11 bags in the first 3 days but ground to a bit of a holt now, so this is just the motivation I need. Grin

Wardrobe will be finished today, just pulled out a few things list night, some of my no-longer-needed things are in the ironing pile, no point ironing stuff I'm getting rid of.
