We had this done and it was a bit of a letdown. It helped me get on top of things but they didn't do the work to the standard I would.
However if you get some recommendations for a good company I'm sure it could be worthwhile.

My MIL (Ireland) had one and it was amazing. The wooden cabinets actually gleamed.. I don't know how they did it!

I have previously in another house and it was indeed fab...BUT it was nowhere near 4hrs? Way longer to do it properly (guess depends on size of house, but think a full-on deep-clean - as in spotless/every nook & cranny/all thoroughly clean & gleamingGrin - of even pretty small flat would be longer than 4hrs?)

yes 4hrs is the minimum so for a small place i guess

mine is 4 bed house so wonder of £150 would cover it

I need recommendations...am on hants/dorset border if anyone has any

To deep clean a four-bedroom house would be at least 8 man hours. Likely as much as 12 hours. So, a team of two would be there for 4-6 hours.

And, everyone has a different idea of what a "deep clean" is. Some people want the insides of cupboards cleaned. Some people want the oven cleaned (but for that you're better off hiring a professional oven cleaner. Don't pay someone to scrub it for hours. For £50 a guy can make your cooker look brand new in one hour.) For some people, a "deep clean" means cleaning off all the pet hair or nicotine dust off the woodwork. Sometimes showers are so encrusted with limescale and mould that it can take over an hour to get them looking good. It will ultimately come down to man hours and so you should have a very clear discussion with them about what you want doing.

thanks Katy , I would love the shower gleaming again but suspect it's beyond help so not worht the man hrs spent on it.
Def don't want cupboards or oven cleaned but yes to fridge.

so £150 may be enough
still waiting to hear from company I emailed but it is the weekend so don't really expect to hear anything until early next week

I love cleaning showers! But, if the silicone sealant is impregnated with mold, there's little I can do about that.

But limescale is easy. I use a highly acidic janitorial descaler.

I also enjoy getting all the gunk out of the shower tracks. Fucking love that part.

unfortunately it's the crumbling grout and black sealant that needs replacing

A toothbrush and using the shower head to spray in there. I've not yet attempted it with a fixed shower head. If a shower head is fixed, I can rinse everything down with a large plastic cup, but that doesn't squirt water into crevices.

As well as the toothbrush, I also carry a little plastic scraper, like for smoothing putty. I put my cleaning cloth over that and run that into the crevices. So, plenty of cleaning solution, toothbrush, and the cloth-on-a-scraper, rinsed out with the shower head. Gets 99% of what's in there. (And what it don't get you can't generally see, anyway.) Thick bleach will also lighten up the stuff I really can't reach.

Sounds great, let us know how it goes! I would love one but can't really afford it Sad

sadly I have been saving up for this

I hate cleaning so would rather work the extra hrs to pay for this and then get a regular cleaner. Bloke said place could be kept up to scratch on 3-4hrs a fortnight.

I did a deep clean on a house last week. It was a four-bed, two bath, two receptions, and a cloak room. I told the lady that the best I could do for her was to clean all day. I found out what she wanted prioritizing and I focused on that. I definitely went beyond what she pointed out wanting done. But, I also could have spent another couple of hours cleaning. She understood that I did what I could in eight hours and was very happy.

It's important to find out what someone wants and communicate with them.

On a big house, more than one cleaner will be able to do more. However, an independent is more likely to do a great job than employees will.

ggirl, thanks! It was a hard day, though. I was aching in the morning!

I don't work top-to-bottom of the house. I started in the en suite bathroom because she'd mentioned wanting to try and get the floor tile grout white (wasn't completely successful with that, but I scrubbed it with bleach a couple of times.) Then I did the family bath, then moved on to the kitchen. The floors (upstairs and down) were the last thing I did, and the very last thing I did was to scrub the kitchen floors. That's what really wore me out!

Thanks, Amazonianwoman. I'm in the Northwest. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't tout for business when I joined MN so I don't advertise my business here. Someone must have noticed a post where I mentioned my general area and sent me a PM, but shes's a bit out of my area and I referred her to someone I knew in her town.
