So my baby babies are now 10 months old. I promised myself that maternity leave 3rd time round I would get organised and be as akin to a domestic goddess as I can be. It's not going well.

I have all these good ideas to get things done but they're not coming together.

The lounge still has the children's Christmas presents in their present bags, our bedroom looks like a clothes/makeup/dh stuff bomb has gone off.

The children's room is vaguely organised in that stuff is on shelves/in drawers/hanging up. But that's as far as it goes.

The bathroom hasn't had more than a quick skim in weeks.

I decided enough was enough and started putting stuff up in the loft last year ready to organise back out in the new year - theory being if we hasn't used it, we didn't need it and it could go. But at the start of feb all I've done is put more stuff up there.

Someone tell me I can do this and that baby steps are the way forward. I've even resorted to starting a weekly routine so jobs get done!

A weekly routine is a good idea as it keeps the house ticking over. But you are fighting a losing battle until you deal with your 'stuff'. Don't look at it as this massive job to do but split it into individual tasks.

One day hang up all the clothes lying around. Next day tackle whatever is on the floor - rehome in proper place or bin. Next day tackle your make up. Etc.

Good luck.

Get rid of stuff. Definitely make money off it if you can, but give it to charity shops or even throw it away before you let it smother you any longer.

Thank you! I think I'm trying to do too much (a whole room) in one go. I started our room 2 days ago. Both days I've had to spend time at the end of the day clearing junk before I can get to bed BlushHmm

Popping over to quiche now Smile

I identify - have been attempting this for years now. Honestly the only way to get there is to send the children away for as long as possible whilst you clear up and hopefully someone else helps you.
