(With many thanks again to Jdub for title inspiration!!)

OK, because we are all so good at chatting housework, we need a second January thread ... .

... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of Wine along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

  • start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

Carry on everybody!

Just marking my place on the new thread. Smile
Today's List
Make beds done
Swish and swipe done
All dressed done
Get breakfast and clear away done
Laundry done
Rubbish out
School run done just got to get them back at end of day
Study done
Soak nails again
Mission/detail
Dinner
Clean kitchen
Homework
Lay out clothes

Just the usual stuff here. Nothing off of the FLY plan really.
Dp's in bed because he's still on nights, so won't get into the bedroom until tonight to do the mission or detail cleaning.
I'm ignoring today's mission because I hoovered where the bed is a few weeks ago when we got the new one. Think I'll start in the closet. There is a load of crap at the bottom that I suppose i should sort out.
I did the top shelf of the closet just before xmas and that's a mess again. I think I need to stack better and take some time to think about placement and position so I don't mess the whole shelf up everytime I get something down.
Just finished some studying, so now going to have a couple of hours just watching tv and then I will prep dinner before going to get the boys (cottage pie tonight)

Thanks for Part II of thread, SC. And also for the Flylady singing link (haven't dared click on it yet).

Inspired by the Flylady videos (I found myself a bit mesmerised by them, to be honest, and they were brilliant at helping me to procrastinate), I have a 'ta da' list:

Dress to slippers
Put the rubbish out
Swish and swipe
Clean toothbrush mug
Empty bathroom bin
Change hand towel
Tidy shelf
Put washing on
Unload d/w
Reload d/w
Empty tumbledryer of yesterday's washing
Put washed crockery etc. away
Tackle hotspot in kitchen
Shine sink
Wipe down cooker top and surfaces
Clean oven
Room rescue in sitting room
Tumbledry wet clothes
Empty kitchen bin
Put bottles and papers out for recycling
Home ed with DS1 - handwriting practice, biology, touch typing
Lunch
Spoke on phone with friend who's having a hard time; arranged visit today

DS2 is being brilliant at playing on his own. He has built a snow castle in the garden. I think it's an extension to the town he's built in his bedroom, which has taken over the entire floor. At least I have an excuse not to hoover in there.

There are still boxes and bin bags everywhere, but I can live with those if we have some clean, uncluttered rooms. The road to the dump is snowed up at the moment, so we may have to live with them for a few days.

Just putting on another load of washing, then am off out to see a friend, leaving DH in charge at home. Am quite looking forward to a snowy walk.

Big wing flaps to all.

I have realised I am great at starting to fly but rubbish at maintaining monentum. So I am starting again from here. I wish I was naturally a tidy and organised person.

We have a snow day today and have been at a friends house but now we are home I feel I should crack on with flying. So quick list dump and I will be back tonight to catch up on the thread.

Beds made
Dw on
Up and dressed
Washing rebooted

To do
Clean bathroom
Rr kitchen
Dust throughout
Hoover throughout

Fold/put away laundry

Im hoping if I get this list completed I will be back on track for the rest of the week.

Better dash Dh is home in two hours and I would like to get most of it done by then Hmm

Trazzles Happy Birthday to dd, and sorry ds?s party had to be cancelled. Fingers hugely crossed that the treatment won?t be too taxing for him (and all of you) and will do it?s stuff.

Slides out of naughty corner to say really sorry for another me, me post, I?m not looking for sympathy, just trying to ?dump? the things that have been stopping me posting, because tbh I?m struggling not to feel a failure next to all you domestic goddesses, because that adage of 'it has to get worse before it get better' is getting stretched a bit far now, and flylady?s ?banish negative thoughts? isn't quite cutting it in the face of ?Sludgefest? now being ?Frozensolidsludgefest? and ?Bedinshed? now being ?bedsinbetweenstorageinshed.? If I can't get better on top of things I'm going to have to drop of the thread completely, but for now I'm continuing to limp along in hope.

The snow and ice got the better of me and I came out of my chair again and have added to injuries and dismally, have smashed my front teeth. (To add insult, dentist insists not having front teeth makes no difference to my looks!) Lots of people round here have broken or missing teeth, and I know I?m being a snob, and it?s nothing in the big scheme of things, but it?s a standard I didn't want to slip beneath.

So enough whinging, onward and upwards:
Still to do list:
Ironing
psychology
get food
Re grit
Put more food up for birds
Catch up h/e file
plan tomorrow
dream up new business!
Dinner
sleep
