Hello
I'm new to this site and wondering if I could get some advice.
Husband and I are looking to relocate from zone 3 London to start a family. We'd ideally like a village atmosphere with lots of green space, but also within an hours commute door-to-door of work in Farringdon as I'll be back at work 4 days a week after maternity leave. We'd prefer to be south-west so can travel to visit family. Has anyone got a good recommendation? Thank you!

Hello,

We're just planning a move back to the south east with children after living abroad for five years. We found both of these helpful:

Might the villages around St. Albans be worth looking at?

sorry - just read your last sentence. Maybe Tonbridge more in your direction. This link has some village tips http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/other_subjects/173439-can-anyone-tell-me-which-are-the-nice-villages-around/AllOnOnePage

Really sorry for not actually reading the detail on your post!!... multitasking whilst making tea!!

We've decided on Godalming area as we have friends there and also want to be next to Guildford which is very vibrant (we lived in London and miss it lots!!) and also is very commutable to Waterloo, LHR and LGW

You'd struggle to commute to Farringdon in an hour door to door from Guildford...

If you want zone 3 perhaps Kew (right on the border) or Wimbledon, but the villagey bit of Wimbledon is vair expensive. What sort of money do you have to spend?

Oh God, now it's me not reading your OP blush You want to move FROM zone 3...

ok thinking...

We're in Reigate which is just a shade over the hour to Oxford Street door to door. Nice market town, good primaries, usual SE scrabble for secondary places, good independent schools locally if you have the money for them. You need a good train line if you're sold on the hour door to door. We're direct from Redhill (a mile down the road) to Victoria in 35 mins.
