A big thank you to the MN Home Edders

A month ago my entire knowledge of HE was: there's a topic for it on MN.

One or two of your threads appeared in Active Conversations. I clicked on them and became intrigued. I started to work my way through all the threads in the Home Ed topic. I became more intrigued. I followed links. I ordered books. I contacted local home edding groups to see what they were like...I became convinced.

I said to my husband last night that I definitely wanted to delay sending DS to school, if we send him at all - that I wanted to home ed him for the infant years at least. And low and behold, I wake up this morning to find that an independent review recommends delaying the school starting age to 6.

So a huge thank you to all the MN home edders. If it wasn't for you, I would still be totally ignorant about this extremely viable alternative.

I also want to thank other posters such as Seeker and MartianBishop who have contributed to HE threads. It has been most valuable to hear about some of the potential problems with HE and I will be bearing them in mind throughout the process.

Thank you all!

(Sorry this sounds like an Oscar acceptance speech. But I've done so much lurking and taking advantage of all your wise words I felt this should be acknowledged )

Yay!

That's how I learned about it too, from discussion on another parenting forum when I was pg with my DD1, and thank goodness I did!
