For every game there are rules, right?
For every rule there is generally a loophole, right?
This registration lark and whole-scale interview/visit debacle is likely to take a little while isn't it?

I have a cunning plan

The fundamental problem for those of us who educate autonomously is that we can't say what our children will be interested in in the next year.
However, we have a unique opportunity here as the majority will be unknown to LA's.
They don't know what you did last year do they?

I'm going to submit a plan, which contains last years' aims (already met) and gather up all the evidence of visits we've done, photographs I took, crafty things we made, books we read etc, etc.
Then we'll continue to work autonomously and present last years work as the plan for the forthcoming year!

Admit it, it's genius.
Just because you HE autonomously doesn't mean you don't have evidence of education. Most of us take photographs, have guff from visits, the children themselves can often relay the information they have learned. Even if you don't, it's hardly an imposition to do so.

We can argue til we're blue in the face that it's wrong we face registration, visits and submission of plans, but at some point we won't have a choice.
I say we get organised and beat them at their own game.

If someone has already suggested this, then please, let me down gently.

From what the LA bods I spoke to directly yesterday were saying, they would accept this as proof of learning.

LOL. Actually that sounds like a great idea, but ugh, the effort!

What you really should do it just keep it all in a box, then when the inspectors come round just hand it to them, with pieces of paper flying everywhere. Like they do in films with tax inspectors.

When they come for us, I just want to be able to hand them Charlotte Mason's 6 volumes, or all 814 pages of the Well Trained Mind, and say 'there you go, our plan'!

I love your idea, sorky, and wish I had been really organised.
Do you think they would accept a fully grown sheep from the 'how to lamb then look after them' project we had in spring?

we already have a large bag hanging on the back of the kitchen door for precisely this purpose.

But that doesn't make you any less of a genius. [enfolds sorky supportively in ample bosom]

Sorky - I have won plenty of cases where an ex partner was against HE.
Evidence I have brought before the court has included a blog, photos, videos, brownie badges, unidentifiable pictures made with tissue paper and bits of pasta, clay models, and once I even took a box of cakes for the judge that the kids had made. I defy any decent HEer not to have this stuff kicking around the house by the shedload.

Sorky, you are on my wave-length

We have an airtight jar of McDonalds' fries, (which we are being observed as to "rotting time"). Do you think that would count?

Great idea sorky (though I strongly oppose why we have to do it)!

I have a German CD. We are trying to learn some because we are going to Austria in a couple of months. We put it on in the car and spit at each other and fall about laughing (no offence to any German people, we are really enjoying learning it)!

I think I will put German on my plan for next year

Great idea and it will work too...I used to do it at work to placate the ridiculous demands of senior management who used to live in cloud cook coo too!

I was wondering if I could adapt it to keeping the inspector at bay, I guess keeping diary is easy(ish) enough! I hope it works!
