I felt sick at the moment of approaching her reception teacher, waited for the kids to leave and said "Just wanted to let you know that 'X' won't be returning to school in January as we have decided to home educate her".
Teacher just looked at me blankly and a little stunned but said nothing, then TA stepped up and I repeated the statement to her. She replied "Oh, ok then"- (I think), I followed up with "so on Thursday could we collect all her bits and bobs as it's the last chance to do so?" Teacher replied "yes of course".
I turned and walked away and found myself grinning like a loon . Honest to god I felt about 3 stone lighter immediately, and even though I'm swinging wildly between panic and feeling elated, I know in my heart it's the right decision to make.
On the way home I told Dd that after Christmas that she wouldn't be going back to school but would be staying at home and that mummy and daddy would be teaching her. I have never seen her so elated since she saw the Wiggles! She punched both hands out and said "YES!, no more school". I was pretty surprised by that.
She whispered to Dh tonight that she had a surprise for him, that she wouldn't be going back to school after Christmas because she doesn't like doing work as it's boring and too easy, and she's much rather stay at home and play!
Sorry it's so long, but you all probably know how I'm feeling and have provided us with a lot of advice and support recently I thought I'd share the outcome with you.
Dh is panicking atm but it'll settle in the next couple of days.
Just need to get that letter typed and ready for Thursday.
