Half way to officially home educating. :)

I say half way because although children don't have to be in school until their 6th birthday, and we don't have to apply for an exemption until then, most children here go to school the Monday following their 5th birthday.

Ds1 was 5 on Wednesday so in other families, come Monday, they would be putting on a uniform, packing a bag and heading off to school.

As it is, we're going to spend the day watching his favourite Tinkerbell movie and having a picnic at the beach (weather dependant, it is coming into winter now)

I'm patiently awaiting the "why isn't he in school" questions.

There is no other reason for sharing this except the fact that it's taken me a long time to get DP to agree to HE, which he did right at the last minute and I'm so happy (and so is ds1) that we can pretty much officially say that "we're home educating"

I will be hanging around on this board a lot now Grin.

Hello tinkerbell

Congratulations, I remember that huge wave of happiness myself.
Yes, do keep posting, these boards get too quiet at times.
I'm sure your little one will love H.ed, we have found the freedom to come and go the biggest benefit, obviously as well as doing what dd wants.
My dh took a while to come round to the idea and with every bonus now he will say what a good idea of OURS to H.ed. Grin

Well done!
I guess we are officially Home Educating now too, as Primary places were given out yesterday and we hadn't applied for one.
Very excited (and a little bit scared!)
Good luck on what is sure to be an amazing journey for us all!
