My DS is 15yrs and following a challenging couple of years, I have finally fought to get a non-school attending timetable in place (agreed but still in progress). Although not entirely HE, the responsibility feels very daunting. Working full-time and ensuring all of the needs of my DS are met is of great concern. If anyone else has any support or advice to offer of their own experiences; it would be appreciated.
Hi Emmy. Just spotted your query and I'm sorry you didn't get any replies before. Can you give a bit more detail about your son's situation? Do you mean he is attending some lessons and learning at home for the rest of the time? We considered this for my son when he was 12 and not coping at secondary, but, in the end, chose the LEA online learning, which didn't work out, followed by deregistration and full-time home ed. I felt as if I was home educating him for a long time first, however, as it took ages to get the LEA help in place.
The LEA are meant to provide either online learning or tutoring for children who can't attend school. Is this being provided for your son? This would take some of the pressure off you.
