Have you been doing any poncetastic prep for Christmas?

Do please post up some pics of your homemade decorations and/or homemade gifts for us all to gawp at.

Or, if your child has brought home (or made at home) any brilliant/endearingly wonky Xmas crafts, do take a snap and post them up too.

<throws glitter EVERYWHERE>

HelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 19-Nov-12 13:01:06

We'll start you all off with a pic of a slightly conventional-angle-defying Christmas candle fashioned by RebeccaMumsnet's DS <bless his cottons>

carovioletfizz Mon 19-Nov-12 13:10:21

Here's mine....a London themed glittery tree decoration!

Kveta Mon 19-Nov-12 13:10:58

ooh, we have done LOADS of christmas themed craft, I will need to get some photos. Best so far were some 'mistletoes' for the great-grandparents (by 3 month old DD and 3 yo DS). not sure about making them in to christmas trees, or keeping them unadorned though.

carovioletfizz Mon 19-Nov-12 13:11:05

oh dear didn't work. Will try again later....not sure what I did wrong!

Kveta Mon 19-Nov-12 13:11:52

HelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 19-Nov-12 13:20:39

MinnieBar Mon 19-Nov-12 15:57:40

Ooh, I'm in the middle of making salt-dough personalised Xmas decs for the DCs' teachers… I'm quite pleased with at least one grin

How do I add a pic from an iPhone please? Indeed, can I??

I am not sure how poncetastic mine will be but we're going to have loads if I succeed in my Conquering Christmas Project !
In the meantime, please accept a picture of the gingerbread house that we decorated last year (and did not make from scracth - I've missed the poncetastic point, haven't I?) pic seems to only appear if you clic on it - sorry!

*click (and it's appearing fine now) I shall shut up.

givemeaclue Mon 19-Nov-12 16:30:12

hilarious, is there a prize for the worst one?

LillianGish Mon 19-Nov-12 16:36:52

Don't know how to make my absolutely poncetastic gingerbread house appear in my post, but if you click on my name you can see it (I hope).

Would you like a photo of my bottles of sloe gin/vodka which I made 3 years ago and I am now too afraid to drink? ever again

trumpton Mon 19-Nov-12 16:54:14

Christmas craft swop . Brief was 2 handmade decorations with a samll gift costing less than £%.
Tiny Norweigian knitted stockings with homemade raspberry gin minatures.

trumpton Mon 19-Nov-12 16:58:13

Gah ! small gift costing less than £5 !!

peeriebear I LOVE that! Did you have a pattern? My SIL adores The Nightmare Before Christmas so could be a brilliant extra gift for her smile

garlicbaguette Mon 19-Nov-12 17:12:33

placemark smile

(I'm having a virtual Christmas this year)

carovioletfizz Mon 19-Nov-12 17:20:59

Oh, glad it worked. Some lovely things here!

Love the Jack ornament! And the knitted stockings.

Ahcmon, where did you get hold of the stripey peppermint sweets for your house? For added poncetastic points, I want to have iconic American candies on my own gingerbread house. blush <retreats under stone>

peeriebear Mon 19-Nov-12 18:28:27

No Littlemiss I just made it by copying a picture of his face smile Black, white, red and green felt. The bell was donated from a collar that belonged to my dear departed cat.

PoppyAmex Mon 19-Nov-12 19:58:18

peer that is very cool!

stealthsquiggle Mon 19-Nov-12 21:12:28

Cheating, because it is from last Christmas (need inspiration for this year still..)

Mini Christmas Cakes for teachers

stealthsquiggle Mon 19-Nov-12 21:14:09

stealthsquiggle Mon 19-Nov-12 21:48:36

(not the point of the thread, I realise..)

JugglingWithPossibilities Mon 19-Nov-12 22:26:27

still cute though smile

beingagoodmumishard Mon 19-Nov-12 22:44:53

this is an advent calendar I made last year. Currently trying to think of things to fill it with for this year.

I am meant to be sewing some Christmas tree decorations this year, but as I haven't actually started them I won't be posting pictures any time soon grin

garlicbaguette Mon 19-Nov-12 23:19:34

Stealth, your mini cakes are gorgeous!

stealthsquiggle Mon 19-Nov-12 23:27:41

blush Thank you, garlic. Previous years' have been more tasteful but the penguins were my favourite, especially the one for DD's guitar teacher (he didn't make the group photo)

garlicbaguette Mon 19-Nov-12 23:46:26

Love him! You ARE clever!

Some little coin purses I've made, to be given to friends, prob with a gift card inside.

Some pillowcases - I'm doing several, these are for my aunty.

Trying again with the pillowcases. Hmm.

Ruffled shopping bag, made with a basic canvas tote which I then sewed simple ruffled strips onto. Very easy to make.

Talented Scuttlebutter !

lia66 Tue 20-Nov-12 12:07:48

how do we post pics to the comment then please?

lia66 Tue 20-Nov-12 12:08:06

oh ignore me, just noticed. blush

Xroads Tue 20-Nov-12 13:01:09

I've just started making floral stuff to sell at christmas craft fayres and this is my favourite most poncetastic one so far grin

Ahardyfool Tue 20-Nov-12 13:10:06

We are making all our decorations this coming weeekend. Last weekend we traipsed round every craft shop and music shop in the vicinity.

We wanted nice sheet music. For baubles - papier mache.

Do you want a pic of me going demented, because only my imaginary self does craft. The real me gets conned every year by imaginary me.

FlyOverTheMistletoe Tue 20-Nov-12 13:21:52

Ahardyfool grin try doing the vodkas - much easier ! At the minute I'm making an elf and he will be on a zipwire some where smile

I'm making ds a stocking advent calendar. This is one of the hopefully 24 identical stockings I've knitted. I'm over half way there and determined to have it all finished by 1st December!

I also have 3 bottles of vodka brewing! Blackjack, fruit salad and mars bar! And I'm planning on making my own wreath nearer the time!

Check me!

Yay it worked!

Xroads Tue 20-Nov-12 13:48:35

How did you make yours work?

The photo or the vodka?

Xroads Tue 20-Nov-12 13:54:08

both wink

Ahardyfool Tue 20-Nov-12 13:55:34

I have some bottles ready for the vodka ;)

I did make monogrammed santa sacks a couple of years ago. I'd just had DD that summer and had gone all homey homespun. However, I think the whole world has now we are all poverty stricken and in recession. I'm not sure what to make of it.

I did briefly consider housing a Turkey in the garden for xmas 2013, and growing all my own veg for xmas dinner but that was in a REALLY carried away moment.

I wish I could knit and do sewy things. Very well done everyone smile

Photo was easy ,just uploaded from my photo stream.

Vodka whack a load of sweets in vodka, put bottles In dishwasher on high setting. Leave to dissolve shaking it every day.

Ahardyfool I only started knitting in February! An old dog can be taught new tricks!

Xroads Tue 20-Nov-12 14:01:18

Thanks I'll try my pic again and give the vodka a go too

Eggrules Tue 20-Nov-12 14:04:21

I want to use a different theme in wrapping for each family member. I love this one.

ListenUpIdBeAGreatLifeCoachMe Tue 20-Nov-12 14:39:03

<spits tea over iPad>

Oh my, not Terry--'s crotch--!

Very impressed by Scuttlebug's bag.
I have done handmade gifts in the past. I wish I had photos of the crushed velvet retro ties I did for my brothers one year when I was about 17...they were quite something!

bigTillyMint Tue 20-Nov-12 15:18:13

Oh no! Not TWC againgrin

Am loving all the Christmas goodies though!

Alicadabra Tue 20-Nov-12 18:23:03

Wow, you lot are all so talented! The cakes! The bags! The advent stockings! I'm in awe <slinks off in shame for thinking my humble crafty efforts were any good>

HalloweenNameChange Tue 20-Nov-12 21:49:42

Think you're a bit premature to be poncing Xmas just yet.

For the American mumsnetters, a bit of poncetasic Thanksgiving... Bread cornucopia

HalloweenNameChange Tue 20-Nov-12 21:51:01

need to take the tin foil out

vamosbebe Wed 21-Nov-12 13:54:29

would like to share mine - how do I post a picture??

Christmas Elf- very please with him! He'll be keeping an eye on my DS (age 7 months, never to early to start the Father Christmas bribery!)

Snog Wed 21-Nov-12 19:49:45

Love that elf!!

Rowlers Wed 21-Nov-12 22:32:27

I'm no crafter - these are from a kit bought for DD last Christmas. We sat together last weekend and started these. Needless to say, DD lost interest shortly after starting so I finished them. We like them!

mathanxiety Thu 22-Nov-12 01:04:05

Bejaypers, I am feeling incredibly disorganised right now. I am tempted to send a photo of my liquor cabinet. It's all I have that is remotely Christmassey but none of it is home brewed.

MidnightKnitter Thu 22-Nov-12 08:24:05

handknit gloves and scarf for my sister. Funny i've never seen her wear them.

Theicingontop Wed 28-Nov-12 14:34:40

Yay for Christmas poncing! Totally new to this, in a way, but kind of not. I guess I was an undiscovered poncer. I've been poncing away on Pinterest without even knowing I was doing it.

Aw, this thread died somewhat. Anyone got anything else to show?

Here's my pick from my 6 days of Christmas crafts so far...even if they look a bit more like starfish than snowflakes

OstrichSizedToLapland Thu 13-Dec-12 08:27:43

Oh I've got one.

The family of elves that live on our porch.
