Window shutters recommendation - not Hillarys

Please help with some suggestions. We are looking to install shutters in our front room. I was hoping to use Hillary's but after they didn't pitch for an appointment twice I am ready to move on. Thomas Sanderson came to measure our windows but they are so expensive! Are there any others I should consider?

No advice but your thread title did make me laugh. When I used HIllarys they were utterly shite.

We used Blinds2Go, not for shutters but for faux wooden blinds, and they were really good. You have to put in the measurements and fit them yourself, but that makes it much more affordable. Might be an option?

We used Just Shutters. They were very good. Price was better than expected too. They may just be on the south coast though.

We used a local carpenter for our kitchen ones - £250 for two windows!

Where are you OP? I can recommend someone if you're anywhere around South Cheshire/Staffs way.

I should have said I am looking for somewhere around London. Some of the good suggestions here that I have googled are not in my area. @Chopchopbusybusy, thanks for suggesting Just Shutters, I will call them tomorrow.

I will have a look at a carpenter as well, thanks for the suggestion @GinandOnit

Shame about Hillary's being dicks. We were quoted 14k by Thomas Sanderson, who then lowered to 7k. Had fantastic shutters installed for 2k by Hillary's. My top tip is to have the quote about 2 weeks before financial year end, then they ring you a week later with further discount. Clearly, they have to turn up first to enable this to happen. Had the shutters 3 years now with zero issues.

Other shutter companies that have been recommended on MN:

The House of Shutters
Shutterly Fabulous
The Traditional Shutter Company

It's worth checking websites for the areas they cover, rather than just where they're based.
