What to do with beautiful woven fabric?

DH brought me a piece of lovely woven fabric from North Africa several years ago. I love the colours, love the design - but I've never been able to think of what to do with it, so it just sits in a box. It's too nice to be cut up for a cushion, it's not really thick or cosy enough to be a throw, and I've got two young DSs so most things end up on the floor in a heap in the living room - and I don't want it to get spoiled.

Any ideas? What do people do with lovely fabrics that aren't scraps and can't be cut up?

I have framed material in the past, it looks really nice grouped in a collection. But if this is too large, could it be a table cover? I have a beautiful sari as a table cloth, just for show though, no one would be allowed to eat on it!

Yep, mainly frame them or make tablecloths/table-runners. When the DC are a bit older and you think it's safe Grin you could sew a fleece backing onto it, to make it cosy enough for a throw?

You could maybe upholster a special chair

Tell us what size it is, that might help to throw some suggestions up. And is it a 'self-contained' piece, iyswim, rather than cut from a roll? I'm wondering whether it has a border.
Would it be suitable for adding a piece of wadding to, and making into a quilt? Or maybe a Roman blind?

Let it stay in the box as it seems too precious to use from your caveats!

We framed this silk scarf and very pleased with how it looks. I could have ironed it better for a neater finish!
