1960s/70s terrace exterior update

So to stay in the area we want and gain a much needed extra bedroom we think we will be buying an 1960s or 1970s terrace. We've also lived in a Victorian conversion so I'm completely stumped about what changes we could make and would look decent alongside the other homes.

Also, what would you do inside? There are French doors from the living room to the garden but I thought we could update these.

Any ideas/ pictures/ links greatly appreciated!

Also, it looks like we are going to have to renovate the whole house including new floors/ painting/ doors/ kitchen/ bathroom / Windows potentially - who would do all this for us? Sorry for such a novice question, I've only ever done painting before!

We have just moved the opposite way, from a late 60s to Edwardian!
The great thing about mid century architecture is the plain building style, so you can do anything you want. Usually the windows are large and the rooms light. If you're lucky you will also get parquet floors.
I'd have a look at Modernist design to give you ideas that you could adapt.
We made our windows very plain, with vertical sections and no small openings. Hope you enjoy your project.
