Our bedroom window is a tricky one due to its shape. It faces east to the front of the property and there are houses opposite (albeit a reasonable distance) so people can see in.
Currently there is a roller blind in place which is blackout and I'd like to keep for sleeping purposes. However, the blackout blind does take away ALL the light.
I'm looking to install an additional lighter option that would allow me to screen the room (while we're dressing), to block direct sunlight while lying on the bed in the morning, and to make the window look less blah. I'm therefore thinking about voile curtains or similar.
To complicate matters, the window is in a gable so there isn't room for a conventional pole and curtains which is what I'm going to use to dress the normal window at the other side of the room. As the blind has a roller, a standard track close to the wall (as DS has in his room) won't work.
For the record, the dark wooden bit is part of the dressing the previous owners had (and took with them). It is glued in place and I wouldn't like to move it given their previous DIY attempts! The screw fittings above can be removed.
