Why is it SO hard to choose a new front door?!

We need to replace our front door as the frame has split. I just can't decide what to have instead!!! It's so difficult to choose a door!!!
We want composite and I want glass in the door to match the side window next to it (which is florielle). I'd like a 30s style although a four panel with glass up top will let a lot more light in. I think I want blue (our bricks are very orangey) but then maybe dark green would look nice??? Except I don't usually like green! Patterned glass? Stained glass? But not too fussy....
How on earth can it be so bloomin' difficult to choose?

This website has lots of options for 1930s style front doors

I like the three panelled 30s doors with stained glass above, especially if it matches glass panels to the side.

I found it really easy - I'm having a Devon in red with Kara zinc glass. Just waiting on loan agreement to come through before ordering it :)

VulcanWoman I like that design a lot. I prefer dark coloured front doors like a nice dark blue but it needs to work with the house.

I feel your pain been debating it for six months. We also want a composite thirties style dark with glass. Just too many choices and all the jobs urged glass is a bit meh

But we have a window like this with a patterned glass which doesn't match the glass options for this door...

Which means I'm more likely to end up with a door like this...

How much roughly is a composite door with glass insert, and maybe some frame fettling too, as current one is a bit rubbish? I'd love a new front door...

You're looking at around £1000, that includes fitting. Shock

We had a quote for door and window £1150, another for £1498. The thirties style door is a Rockdoor which will be more!

I think that's why I'm struggling, it's a very expensive mistake to make! Imagine choosing a door and then have your heart sink every time you look at it. Plus, we're south west facing so full sun, and even though they aren't meant to fade, I'm concerned about fading/colour changing if we go dark.

I must point out though that a upvc door was only £200 cheaper than a composite door.

Don't get the grey one, it's for a Victorian house. It's lovely though, I have similar in very dark green.
The red is more thirties than that pale green.

For the color, ask for the biggest possible samples and look at it in different lights. Compare it with you brick color, the general feel of you home and the area. If the small window does not match your favored texture, I'd get a quote for changing it. It's rather small so should not be too expensive. It coudl simply be changed when the funds allow it.
