We are a family of 3. Two adults and 11 year old girl and rent a 2 bedroom, one bathroom flat about 80m2. The flat is on the first floor and has a largish south facing terrace that is covered by a roller blind and gets very hot.

We a desperate for space, especially in her room and office space for me but cant move for another year or two until our daughter goes to the next school.

Please, if anyone has any ideas beyond de cluttering stuff I`d love to hear about them.

What's the layout like at the moment - two bedrooms, bathroom and open plan kitchen/sitting-room/diner?

Also, is moving partition walls around an option at the moment?

Yes the layout is as you describe with no hallway. The bedrooms and bathroom are directly off the sitting room which is open plan to the kitchen diner. The toilet is separate, also off the sitting room with a basin. The bathroom, without toilet is off the kitchen.

Structural changes such as moving partition walls are not an option.

should say bedrooms and toilet are directly off the sitting room and bthroom (no toilet) off the kitchen diner. Kitchen diner and sitting room are open plan

Hmm - could you turn DD's bedroom into your office/storage space, give her your current bedroom and partition off part of the terrace-side of the sitting room (using screens sample for 'bespoke' here ) to make space for your bed? Not perfect, but it would mean no moving walls and I'm guessing she goes to bed before you do, so wouldn't impact too badly on bedtimes.

Also, could your dining table be moved to the terrace to give more internal space? you could 'weatherproof' a bit by getting that heavy duty plastic sheeting as a wind break (and possibly a decent patio heater).

Hi,

Love- your -Home www.love-your-home.co.uk/ have ranges of beds with storage. They lift rather thank use draws, so you are not limited to the space around the bed, we have a double in our room and single in my daughters room. They even have stain resistant fabric, so you can choose a light colour. We have a small home an they have been really great.
