Glider Chairs

I have a dutalier glider chair which I bought when I had my first DC some years ago. I've nursed all DC on it, it's moved into each bedroom as needed and for the last few years it's been stored. DH wants to put it into our living room near the French Windows so that he can look out to the garden while rocking. It doesn't match so we'd have to find someone to recover the cushions with more attractive fabric and possibly have the wood sprayed white as it's currently a bit orangey beech. Does anyone think this would look OK or should we get rid of it. It's very well made and I'm very fond of it but don't want the effect to be a bit Little House on the Prairie.
