carpet and fitting cost for 5 bedroom sauce

Hello lovely ladies.
Ok I've been quoted a total of 3k for both the carpet and fitting (plus rods and bits etc but not underlay) of 5 bedrooms, 1 sitting room, two staircases and a hallway. The carpet is mid-fairly high range twist 80/20 ans 50 oz pile. My guy is independent so he charges fitting and sources carpet and no doubt adds on extra.

This seems reasonable to me but husband thinks it is really high. I'd really appreciate some feedback and thoughts on the quote
Much obliged ladies!

I just paid £2k for 2 beds, hall, stairs, landing & 6m x 6 m sitting room. Bedrooms were a bit cheaper but everything else is good quality. We went to a chain and kept negotiating till we were happy with the price.

I think that is reasonable considering the amount of time the fitting will take esp with two staircases.

If your dh isn't happy get him to get another quote. I don't think he'll beat the one you already have though!

I just paid £2300 for fitting, underlay (good one) and carpet (lovely soft and thick) for 4 double bedrooms, landing, stairway and lounge. (Think I got a good deal)

I guess it depends on how many square m your house is and what type of underlay you've gone for. And the carpet. Quality and prices vary wildly even for similar sounding carpet mixes.

We had new carpets installed in January once the renovation work was complete.

It was only the 2 upper floors plus stair runner with whipping to all 3 floors and proper rubber underlay as we have wood floors throughout ground floor. Plus deduct three bathrooms upstairs as it was bedrooms hallways landings and stairs.

In total it was 185sqm of carpet (large 6 bedroom house) to be laid.

I got a 60% off offer on the carpet itself (100% wool textured carpet) so instead of £40 p sqm the carpet was £16 psqm. The underlay was on offer too so £9.99 instead of £12 psqm. So £4,800 plus the whipping for stair runner carpet to all three floors for £150 plus grippers plus £500 for installation.
So £5,500 in total.

Without knowing the exact quality and type of carpet and the total sqm of house to be done, it's hard to say whether it's a good deal or not.

If your house is a similar size to mine then I'd say it's a good deal.
