Anyone with duck egg blue walls - love 'em or regret colour choice?

I fancy painting my sitting room duck egg blue after many years of varying shades of white and cream on the walls.

Just wondering if you live with the colour do you find it relaxing and love it or do you regret using it?

I've got duck blue wall paper from Laura Ashley and it's lovely and very calming but I've chosen a lovely dusty amethyst (which is well out of my comfort zone ) for this spring Smile

Ours was painted that colour when we moved in. It needs redoing now but I think we'll just paint it the same colour as we really like it.

My kitchen is duck egg blue with cream units and I'm regretting it a bit. Might paint it deep purple instead. It just looks a bit blah.

Love duck egg blue. Just painted a bedroom with homebasecpale duck egg blue. Am very pleased with it. Not much paler though than the duck egg blue in another room.
I've have a yellow on another of the walls and it works really well.

I've just done our bedroom with a duck egg theme. One wall is done with the wallpaper below and the rest are cream. I love it, its so pretty.

Bamboo that's what I've got. It's a bit insipid.

Napoleon - I have the bedding and curtains in the same design as your wall paper. I love it. My bedroom walls are plain white. That's 2 rooms I have with duck egg blue. I keep steering towards it for my bathroom (which were about to have done) but I'm not going to allow it otherwise I'll have half a house in the same colour!

Safe to say OP, I'm a fan.Grin

We put b&q duck egg in DS's bedroom when we were doing his "nursery" (Hmm)

It's a bit too greeny for my liking but does actually go quite nicely with his soft furnishings which are kind of jungle themed.

We have some friends with a very colour coordinated duck egg blue and cream living room - my DH said it reminded him of a baby's bedroom Confused

I do love the colour though but would maybe use it with some other colours

I have no talent with colours or interior decorating. As in: It's a wall, paint it magnolia - painless thinking.

I ended up with duck egg blue in my den, because that's what my home-visiting hairdresser recommended, and I trusted her because she has a clue about recommending colours that suit the person.

Her point was that duck egg blue mostly goes with mostly any other colour - much more so than magnolia. In my den I have white window shutters, pine bookshelves and desk, wooden floorboards that have a reddish tinge, and a sofa that is described as raspberry.

I also have a large gold-coloured ornament on the mantelshelf. And above that, I have a painting by a dear friend that references Van Gogh, with yellow sunflowers.

To my un-talented eye, I can't think of any colour that wouldn't fit in.

Napoleon - My next project (once I've paid off my credit card bill) is to redecorate my bedroom, plus new bedding. That's the look that I want.

Our kitchen and dining room ( all one room really) are Laura Ashley Pale Duck Egg. I love it. We have off white units and wooden work tops. We do have a fairly distinctive feature wall of wallpaper in the kitchen too which makes a huge difference to the overall feel of the kitchen. The design is black on an off white background and it just works.

I had duck egg blue on a small wall under the staircase in my sitting room in my last house and also going up the stairwell and in the upper hall. I loved it and thought it looked quite elegant. The rest of the sitting room walls were in mushroom.

We had duck egg blue walls in our bedroom when we moved in. It made a sunny room look cold and unfriendly. Couldn't afford to redecorate, so put up our lovely dark red curtains and covered the floor with our colourful rugs. They warmed the room up, and eventually we stopped seeing the blue walls.

After some years we redecorated at last. Same curtains, same rugs, same bedding, but a warm, very pale creamy brown colour on the walls. Suddenly the room looked cosy and welcoming, and the colour glowed in the sunshine.

Duck egg blue? Belongs on a duck's eggs.

Our hall is duck egg blue with white woodwork and sanded floors and I love it. I wish it was big enough for an armchair so I could sit in it.
