Kitchen up date ideas

Need to do the update to our kitchen. It is probably around five years old. We moved in about a year ago â?? cream shaker style units with a wood effect laminate worktop and the whole beige tiles.i'm thinking of a new worktop and splashback/ tiles but not sure of colours. Maybe a black granite type work top as this would match the floor well. Not sure about the tiles though? Is glass better? Any advice gratefully received

I have a glass splash back and it is so much more practical than tiles. Mine is white so quite unobtrusive - If you go for it I would beware of black to go with the worktops as I imagine it would show splashed / watermarks more. But v easy to clean. Good luck
