I've recently decorated my hall and Landing. I went for silk paint as I thought it would be better with mucky hands rubbing up and down. All was good but it's now started peeling Shock what have I done wrong?

It's usually a case of not prepping properly

Did you paint over existing silk?

Was it over silk? Did you stir it?

No it's over Matt and I gave the tub a shake before opening it, will it be ok for me to paint over the patches? I don't think it helps that the kids run their hands up and down the wall whilst using the stairs

Running their hands down the wall won't be the case,it's the preparation, something underneath or possibly the paint being dodgy. Did you not stir it properly, just gave the tin a shake instead?

Well silk over matt is fine. Not the other way around though. You are supposed to give it a good stir before using but tbh sometimes I forget and its been fine.

maybe sand with fine sandpaper and give another coat (after stirring)? I wouldn't just paint over the patches or assume the paint is faulty and get another tin.
