What is like a sunburst mirror but isn't a sunburst mirror?

My sitting room feels a bit like a waiting room - direct entrance from street, two sofas facing each other, lots of straight lines, no real focal point. The biggest wall currently has two pictures on it, but I think we need something round there - big, round, focal pointy.

I love the idea of a big sunburst mirror but do we reckon they're just getting a bit too ubiquitous? If so, any advice on what else could work? I generally have a bit of a horror of mass-produced wall art but I guess if it was lovely enough I could change my mind.

Oh, and cheap is a definite bonus!

Watching with interest as I am also thinking about one of these!!

That doesn't really help though, does it?! Sorry!

Not really, Looks, but we can chat among ourselves while we wait for an expert.

Can you believe how EXPENSIVE sunburst mirrors are? Jeepers.

I also looked at retro starburst clocks but they're also expensive - going for ridiculous sums on ebay, like tatty white furniture was a couple of years back.

Still sooo expensive though!! I'm hoping for about £25 Grin

I want one with as much reflective properties as possible because ours needs to go at the back of a long room with no windows at the end!

Like this

Only maybe with white around the edges. And far cheaper, obviously!

I really like the twig one but the porcupine one is awful. It just looks 'vicious' iykwim.

Yes, £25 would suit my pockets as well.

I'm looking for reflective because the room is quite dark. Though it would mean my extremely vain 5-y-o dd (favourite phrase: "Everyday I am getting beautifuller and beautifuller") would spend her life standing on the sofa staring in.

It's got to be big, too - I like the idea of 90cm dia.

Yes, DS (3) likes to dance in front of the mirror. I shall have to ensure any furniture positioning won't encourage him any further Grin

I see what you mean about the porcupine, Staywithme - and given the price reduction the general public must be voting with you.

I could see it getting knocked down and impaling the cat.

I like your Helios, Looks, but not its price tag. It would be the most expensive thing in my house. I'd sell the kids for less.

This might be nice for your wall, Looks.

I think I want something more goldy. My room is pale grey, charcoal sofas, mustard and olive accents. Old gold would work well and be more warming.

No, I don't like any of the price tags. I've seen some on Pinterest made from lolly sticks. That's more my financial level!

Maybe lolly sticks is the way to go. Spray-painted gold. Or painted in Annie Sloan chalk paint then distressed for a shabby chic feel?
