Ikea birch vs beech?

We bought a table and chairs from Ikea about 7 years ago. The table is a Bjursta and the chairs are the now-discontinued Gilbert. I remember we agonized at the time over whether to buy the beech or birch colour. I can't remember which we got and we now want to change the chairs for upholstered ones, which only seem to be available in birch?! Help?! How can I tell if we've got beech or birch and if it's beech, where can I find matching chairs? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the birch is lighter than the beech.

The other issue you may have is that they've changed the beech over the years. I bought bookcases in beech. Went back a couple years later to get a different bookcase in beech and it was totally different.

Birch is light, pale creamy yellow in colour. Beech is more orangey. Can't you tell from looking at their website? Even if your things are not there any more you should be able to tell from looking at something else that comes in both colours like a billy bookcase...

Thet don't seem to do much in beech anymore, not even Billy. And I think it's the beech we have... Sad
