Limestone or Oak fireplace can't decide?

We are getting a real coal fire installed early next year but can't decide on the mantle and surround.It will have a black/silver insert with a black slate hearth.My dh prefers the oak surround but I prefer the limestone, although we have seen the oak in a showroom but not the limestone.Our skirting boards are oak so not sure the white limestone colour would go.We were also told that the limestone my discolour in time with the smoke from fire.I was hoping to paint the walls an off grey colour, we would also be getting oak sideboards.The more I think of it not sure anything hoes now! Thanks in advance.

I love our limestone fireplace but with a black surround and hearth, and oak skirtings, I'd go for the oak.

I think all that black, white and silver might look a bit glitzy for my taste, and the oak would definitely soften the look.
