Talk to me about trivets!

Hi all

I've just bought this dining table and I'm terrified of ruining it!

I've been looking at trivets to help protect the table from direct heat and I'm struggling to find anything that's not dated or uber-modern.

Can anyone help, please?!

It's a lovely table.
I think of trivets as kitchen stands, could you find some lovely place mats?
If you have DC you could always have the ubiquitous oil cloth that you can remove when you want it to look special.

How about having a huge sheet of toughened glass cut by a local shop. You will still see the wood then. Make a template from newspaper and get a quote.

The glass won't protect the table from heat and nor will a pizza stone.........she says with experience so Make sure you get one that lifts whatever it is off the table.

debenhams have some nice ones - I've got me eye on the 40cm wiggly iron one.

Oh thank you. There are some lovely wooden ones on the debenhams website.

The oilcloth might be the way forward, especially with my DD around.

I just use wooden chopping boards.
