Soooo I wanted to paint dds room lilac. Went to the paint merchants, showed the man a pic of what I wanted and he gave me a tub of paint and sent me on my way. FIL painted the room today and just sent me a pic. It's a bit ....erm...... Bright.

That's purple.

That's purple.

How about you have a feature wall of it and paint the rest white?

Alternatively mix it up with white to get a more subdued colour?

Or put posters up Grin

What, you showed the paint merchant the first pic and he gave you the paint in the second pic?? They're nothing LIKE similar!! I mean, I love purple, but it's not at all what you asked for!!

BOFFA · 12/10/2014 17:38

The first picture is blue though, not lilac. Maybe that's where you went wrong?

Ooh right.

Well, that's not lilac! Mind, I would have said your reference pic was blue Confused

I think it will be fine once you've got all your bits and bobs in the room. It's lilac, not a pale lilac but lilac. I have similar in my bedroom, Its quite relaxing.

Ahh..."Extreme Lilac" otherwise known as purple.

It looks nice and It'll be fine once you get all the furniture back in

I think it's because it's not what you were expecting.

I did this recently with my hallway - hated it whilst painting it, said to DH we are going to have to get a different paint etc etc, but once all the stuff was put back I now LOVE it.

How old is dd?

I did tell him the pic of what I wanted was blue and he gave me a weird look and said it's lilac. Ahhhh ffs. I don't know what to do now. I've bought all the stuff in the next pic for her room. Will it go?

Will it be a massive ball ache to paint over it in a lighter colour?

I like it! It'll be toned down a lot once the white furniture is back in.

I spoke to DP and he said to put everything in, give it a few weeks and if I'm still not fussed we can wallpaper over it. However, DP is crap at wallpapering and I'm no better so I don't know whether to just cut my losses and paint over it now

It probably will dry lighter over night to become a dark lilac rather than purple [hopeful]

But I think with white accessories and pale pictures or wall stickers, it will look lovely.

Don't forget to leave the paint to dry for 3 weeks at least before applying any wall stickers.
