Lighting in kitchen / diner extension?

I hate the lighting in our current kitchen / diner extension. Room is approximately 5m x 4m with a sloped roof. It has plenty of natural light due to velux windows, French doors and due to being open plan to a large lounge with a large window.

But in the evenings I hate the lighting from the two sets of track spotlights that run along the kitchen / diner ceiling. So glary no matter how you direct them, yet loads of shadows too Each track has 5 spotlights. What are the alternatives please and where can I go for face-to-face advice? Is there such a thing as a lighting professional who'd come round to
take a look and make some suggestions? I'm clueless tbh!

Overhead lighting is rubbish. Standard lamps, wall spots, table lamps will give a nice atmosphere. Good luck.

Following! Posted similar on another thread here. Hate the lighting in ours. Was here when we moved. Glary / shadowy track halogen lights. We recently switched them all to LED and now the room is gloomy! :(

We have one floor lamp. No option for under cabinet lighting as we have no wall cupboards. Limited options for wall lights too. Totally stuck!

Have you got a dimmer switch? I had spot lights in a previous house and we fitted a dimmer to deal with the glare.

Yes to dimmers. And if you have wall units maybe those lights that sit under them?
