Front porch

We've just moved in to our new house and I'm really not keen on the UPVC porch door. I'm not sure whether to keep the porch and get a new door or remove it. I don't know what the original 1930s front door/porch would have looked like.

The inner front door is also UPVC but it has a glass panel with flower motif in which matches the very tall window over the stairs so it would be too much work/too expensive to change right now.

Any ideas for what would look good and/or be in keeping with the age & style of the house? Sorry it's not a great photo, hope you can see it okay.

Thank you for any and all advice.

I would hazard a guess that the porch would have been open at one stage... Maybe square, timber posts going up to support the corners of the roof. Ours had the sides bricked up to about hip-height, then wooden posts from the ends, supporting the roof. We've now enclosed the porch, keeping the entire original structure, but adding a window to each side and double-doors at the front. It's a pretty good compromise between energy efficiency and sympathy for the original structure.
