Storm wall or tiles

Just come across Stormwall whilst looking at tiles. Must admit the idea of not having to clean grouting is quite appealing. Has anyone used Stormwall and can give an opinion. Does it wear well, look good?

What is it? Is it a solid panel with images of eg tiles on it?

sorry - got it - like aquapanel or what my builder calls cement board with patterns.

I'm planning on it for my shower & bathroom as saw it in a couple of hotels in a marble finish. It appeals to me because I hate having leaks between cracked grouting & I hate have to clean mould from grout.

How good it looks depends on the picture quality, but also the fixings, so whether or not you can see huge screw holes in the panels! Done well, I think that it's very good, and frankly, anything that reduces the exit points for water is great in my book.

Thanks for such a prompt reply. The ones I saw today did not have screw holes and fixed to the wall with adhesive. The one I liked was Italian stone. I will certainly look at splashwall too.
I agree about the cracked grouting - it's not a good look either is it?
Guess this stuff is quite new, it has a 10 yr guarentee. At the end of this time tiles can look quite poor so it may be worth considering.

Thanks for this - not sure we are up to installing ourselves but this is a really good website and thought it might help us with some of the other jobs we have to do!

Is there anyone out there who has already had Stormwall? Would you recommend it? Is it worth the price? Do you regret not having tiles?

I'm considering this too but I want to a whole wall and don't like the joining strips. Does anybody know if you can get this without or some kind of less visible join?

We have got Stormwall (fitted by a Homebase fitter when we had our whole bathroom redone), on one full wall of our bathroom and a smaller piece behind the shower (it's an over-bath shower). We have got a black sparkly quartz pattern on ours which I absolutely love. There is one joining strip on our full wall panels which is just a plain black strip. Obviously it's not invisible but I don't notice it at all.
I love it - I hate hate HATE grout with a passion. It looks nice for about a fortnight then you get those horrid little dots of mould appearing, then it cracks and you have to rake it out and re-do the whole lot. No thanks!
The only thing I will say is that we live in a very hard water area and the black panels do show limescale marks from water splashes, so I spray once a day with that shower spray stuff and it keeps it at bay (needs a proper wipe over once a week with some limelite and a gentle scouring sponge).

I have a different brand but same concept, and it's brilliant. So easy to keep clean, and it looks better than tiles, at least to me. The only thing I might suggest is to get one that's made with plywood rather than chipboard as it wears better if it does get damp. My crappy 80's kitchen has an awful lot of now-dissolving chipboard in the counter tops and unit doors. Shower panels are made with plywood and I have a lot more confidence in them. The builder sealed them off anyway so hopefully a non issue.
