What colour walls with these tiles/cupboards, please?

Tiles have been up for 15 years - I know they're a bit shit but won't be changing them any time soon.

I'm planning to get stripey roller blinds in a combination of the 'fruit' tile colours but don't know whether to do walls pale 'fruit' colours or white or magnolia or what.

Doors are slightly orangey pine as in other pic. May get them painted but also not any time soon Grin (how much prep do they need & how long does it take per door? & can I also paint the pretend wood cupboard ends?)

Might be a bit out there but I would use tile paint on the fruit ones so that you'll still have the fruit but it will all be the same colour. Go for something deep and classic coloured like dark purple perhaps and some neutral stone or similar. Then paint walls neutral colour but one wall the bold colour. I always think richer colours look less 'make overish!'

As for the cupboard doors I am going to say - don't do it! We spent about a million hours (felt like it!) painting ours and they didn't last 5 minutes and always looked a bit rubbish. That was after loads of prepping, sanding, undercoat ... We ended up buying new doors and fitting them ourselves from the Kitchen Door Company online.

Good luck!

oh that's an interesting idea - thanks, ilovelamp Smile

I'm not sure about buying new doors though - I'm not that keen on the layout we have now so if I was going to start spending real money I'd sooner start again. But thanks for the heads-up about painting!
