I'm looking for something to store toys in that is similar to this. We got this off fleabay a while ago and I thought it was oak, but I cant find anything similar anywhere but I don't really know what I should be searching for ont tinternet. I know it's solid wood, and bloody heavy. I really wanted expedit but they don't do any similar colours so i'm open to other suggestions. Any ideas? Thanks

It looks like oak to me too. Not very helpful sorry.
The table i'm on now is oak and is exactly the same as the medium colour in your pic.

The colour looks like light oak and dark/medium oak, and I'm pretty sure that's what it is, although in places the grain looks very much like cherry.

It's hard to tell from a photo, but if there is any warmness and reddishness to it then it probably is cherry. Oak tends to be lacking in redness even in the darker oaks.

Thanks, I think I'm getting a bit closer. There's no red in it, I've googled 'medium oak satin' and some of those are looking quite similar. Think it's going to cost to get a match though, no cheapy ikea-alike found the moment unfortunately. I wonder if I could get an untreated pine and get a stain?

We have some pine chairs and we've stained them with a medium oak. They look like a good match.

It is rosewood, who'd have thunk it! Indian rosewood to be exact. More excited than I should be now, thanks everyone who helped. Need to check my eyes now because I still can't see any red in it.

I was going to say it looks like Indian Rosewood or even Mango. Our dining room table is mango and looks exactly like that.

Oh, sorry. It is just that mango wood is more than one colour like the photo. Rosewood tends to be more even.
