Farrow & Ball Cinder Rose

Hi, I have just painted one wall of my 10 year old daughters bedroom in cinder rose. Although we both love the colour, I think it's a bit dark for the room & will make it feel small if I paint the whole room this colour. Now I can't decide whether to ditch cinder rose and choose a new colour or keep one wall painted and choose another pink to paint the other 3 walls. Is this a very dated look?

DD wants something girly, pink/purple. I think Calamine may look a bit dull for DD and maybe Middleton pink will lift the Cinder Rose. Anyone with any knowledge/experience of these colours?? Thank you Smile.

Calamine is nice. I have it in the kitchen, nice baby pink not dull at all

One way to deal with this i keep the 'feature wall' cinder pink - then gradually fade it out to a lighter colour - it looses the feature wall look that way ... Looks more like a lighting effect ! Achieve this by sectioning off the walls either side and blending in lighter and lighter paint equally, until you get back to palest pink on the end wall opposite the dark wall.. Add pink accessories in various blends and textures and one or two unexpected grey and white ones for a great look ! :-)

Love the grading idea- also could you add some pattern or design to the darker wall using the lighter colour that you used on the other walls? I'm thinking this... www.sawdustandembryos.com/2010/07/our-kitchen-reveal.html (but not in gloss) or if your less artistic (aka me!) Could you add large pictures/a wall art sticker thingy to make it seem less solid dark wall colour?

For a bit of fun add silhouette black images of a little mouse and a mouse hole somewhere too ! Amazon do them as stickers !

Thank you. I'm loving the blending idea but don't think my artistic skills are quite up to the job. A good idea for stencils/wall stickers too. I've actually re-looked at the cinder rose wall I've painted and it doesn't look so dark anymore, unless I've just got used to it! So I think I may as well try it on the other walls as I have the paint. If that doesn't work I think I'll try out calamine - good to know it's not a dull pink.
