New bathroom tiles - metro or square

We inherited this bathroom and need to fit and slightly remodel - its the en suite but current being used as family as the kids one has no heating.

We want to tile the shower enclosure (the new one will have three solid walls and only one of glass) and possibly the other walls up to window sill height.

Option 1 is subway tiles in sort of pale green/grey.

Option 2 is square tiles, similar size to existing, either all greeny grey, or a mix of 3 hues of greeny/grey/creamy.

Taps etc are gold.

The room is quite high and will be a little smaller as we are moving the entry door. And the windows are quite high up. I have read subway tiles can make a room look wider, but will they look too 'men's urinal' in here?

Also, the colour. I am scared to loose the terracotta - it is 90s, but it's very warm and bright.

Please can anyone comment?

I like either metro or square so am useless on that point. But do you have a particular reason for keeping the gold taps? I think gold fittings in bathrooms look really dated. I'd lose the terracotta as well, personally, or reduce it somewhat. Keep the floor and towels but lighten the walls?

I really like metro but worried its very fashionable and will dare badly. Having said that I think I will still go with them.
