Patchwork or plain sofa

We need to buy two small sofas for our front room. It's a small room and we only have a couple of options of sofas due to the bay window and shape of room.

We've found the Lynford sofa from Homebase and think we're going to go with it. The problem is I can't make up my mind whether to play it safe with a mink/grey colour (or plain colour in general) or the patchwork sofa they do.

I love the patchwork sofa, the colours are lovely and it's very muted but I'm worried I'll grow sick of it quicker.

Please can you guys tell me which you would choose. I can't make a decision at all to save myself!

Thanks!

Or a third option - one plain sofa and one patchwork.

Would that work?

Thanks

I'd just get the plain ones and add cushions for brightness/ a change of scene.

My practical side agrees with you and that's what we have in the family room. I think I just wanted to go for something not 'safe' for once.

Yes, plain with fabulous cushions and maybe a throw.?

No votes for one of each then Hmm I thought I was onto something there.

I felt the same about the "safe" options but stuck with my
Instincts and bought a patchwork sofa. I absolutely love it, it's so unusual, everyone always comments rather wistfully that they wish they had something like that not just the standard plain with accent cushions.
It's such a statement piece. I want to buy a smaller one for the guest room

Another patchwork fan - thanks Pear.

I think I'm veering towards having at least one of the patchwork sofas. Ooh I feel all rebel like!

Personally I would probably go plain because I am boring but I think one of each is a good compromise. you could then have plain cushions/throw on the patchwork one and patterned on the plain. Do they do cushions to go with it as if you had one of them on the plain and a plain on the patchwork it would really all come together nicely.

I have a rather bright patchwork sofa and I flipping love it - is utterly stunning. Always gets a wow from new visitors so I would def vote for patchwork - I think one of each is good idea. And you could pick out patchwork colours and buy cushions in those to go on plain sofa to tie them together too.

Thanks guy. Went to look at it again and it's ever so pretty so going to go with one of each and the plain in a duck egg I think.

Thanks for convincing me it wouldn't look stupid.

I'd go for one of each, especially if you love the patchwork one. I really like 'mis-matched' / put together furniture. I think it looks a lot more sophisticated than matched sofas which can look a bit office reception or 3 piece suite matchy.

If you love the patchwork sofa then get that but only one, go plain with the other sofa. I think two might be a bit much.

My DH works for Homebase and said that originally the patchwork chairs were in stores just to show the different fabrics you could choose from not as a purchase in itself. But people loved it so much that they decided to make it an official product Smile

Really Nell? That's brilliant. I do love it and there's the double discount on this week so it would be rude not to get them!

It would be very rude not to get them Lovebucket! We will be buying furniture soon for moving into new flat, going to make the most of DH's staff discount!

A sofa is one of the largest and most frequently used pieces of furniture in your home.Sofas come in many shapes and forms.Check the quality of sofa that you consider for buying. The comfort level of the sofa is also a major consideration.Thanks.
