Neutral walls, neutral floor, neutral curtains, and......... an orange sofa?

That's what I want. I don't want to commit to anything too outrageous like patterned curtains, and the floorboards are nice as they are, so, I am going to end up with pale shades of neutral and it might look a bit anaemic! I keep googling orange sofa and I find nothing. So what might happen is that I end up with 'toasted almond' walls, pale wood floor boards, cream curtains and a beige sofa. With omg go wild, an orange cushion.

Do I need to be braver?

Any ideas? The room is only about 12x14

If I do end up chickening out of a brightly coloured sofa and getting a beige one, would a row of orange/gold cushions give the room a bit of backbone?

orange corner sofa?

Speaking as the proud owner of a room with blue walls, red rug and purple chaise longue, I say go for it.

I love that colour! That's just perfect. I can't have a corner sofa though, as the door is in between the two walls along which a sofa could go. The other two walls, one is a window and it would look a bit off centre to have a bit of sofa on that wall. The other wall is the fireplace. So it's going to have to be normal sofa(s)

your room sounds lovely! I'd love a chaise-longue. Two sofas is a bit predictable. One sofa and a chaise-longue would be nice imo.

Have you looked at made.com? You can bright red yellow or pink sofas? And an orange armchair (lulu).
Can email you a rec so you get £15 off

I like the 'retro-ness' of that sofa although the seat looks a bit low in relation to the back. I would love something very 70s. 70s in a good way.

Ikea have just brought out an orange cover for the Karlstad sofa range... seriously considering it

yes! I was sitting on it in ikea earlier today. Along with the klippan, the kivik, the sandby, the............. got a squat work out in.

I am seriously thinking of getting that sofa too!. I have to say though, having sat on them all the ektorp is more comfortable. But only by a bit. they're both comfortable. It looks nicer when you're standing right in front of it than it does on the website. It looks bolder, or more e. The pattern is lovely and it's on a very nice natural pale taupe background, which is hard to see on line.

it looks more expensive I meant to say. looking at it on line I thought it might look a bit cheap and nasty. but I like it.

A sofa is one of the most expensive purchases you'll make, therefore it should have some longevity. Curtains, cushions and rugs are far less expensive, and more easily replaceable: therefore, I would go for a more neutral sofa but strong-coloured soft furnishings
