Stylish (and cheap) high backed armchair needed

So I'm riddled with arthritis and have a lot of pain in my back and hips. My physio says I need to get a high backed armchair - you know, like the ones old people sit on in care homes Sad. But obviously I'd like it to be stylish. And cheap.

Has anyone got any tips?

Why not get a second hand old people's one and get it recovered?

How cheap is cheap? What's your budget?

Recovering is a good idea, tethersend. Do you reckon it could be done for under £200?

Hmm, not sure... I think it would depend on where you live and the material you use.

You could always try doing it yourself?

your local auction house would be worth a look.

would this be high enough?

Ooh, Herhonesty, THAT I like. And it's the same colour as our sofas. I wonder how comfy it is? Though I'll be sitting with lumbar cushions anyway, so it probably just needs to be the right shape.

Love it! Many thanks. And when it gets decrepit/covered with toddler snot and vomit, I'll recover it a la tethersend's suggestion. How easy is it to do it yourself, tether?

That's the exact thing I thought of when reading your OP, the strandmon looks lovely and would suit your needs.
