Heavy curtains

I'm after some really good quality expensive looking heavy curtains for our living room. I want some kind of cream/putty colour with some kind of pattern running through it, preferably a red although the latter is not so important. It's the quality that matters and so far i haven't found what i want which is the type of curtain that looks glorious from outside the house too. Max budget 120 really but would pay more if necessary. Feel like I've tried everywhere including dunelm but they all feel so light. Any ideas?

If you want heavy looking they will need to be interlined and you ain't gonna get that for under £120 unless you make them yourself - even then you might struggle.

I'm willing to pay more but don't know where to go to buy them?!

Try natural curtain company they have some stylish fabrics but may cost a bit more depending on your measurements Smile

John Lewis have always made our curtains. I think the last ones cost quite a lot more than £120 though; a pair for some floor length windows and a bay (three quarter length) cost about £2k iirc. Nice heavy fabric, I almost always ask JL to use Voyage fabrics as they're really good quality.

Designers guild have great fabric choices then get them made with good quality lining.

I've made all our curtains. I made four very heavy and pretty fabulous curtains (so 2 pairs) for a bay window for about £200. Interlined. Fabric was about £100 - about 12 metres IIRC which I bargained to £10 a metre. Interlining and lining a further around £80 a metre - ish) and then the curtain tape.

They are a sort of warm grey thick jacquard and drape beautifully with the interlining.

You will save £££s on making them yourself. I looked for readymades and nothing came close to what I made on quality, and price was at least double.

Plus, once you've made the first set it's so easy to make more ! I've got summer and winter curtains for each bay window and the french doors now! Plus a door curtain !

You will struggle getting anything decent weight/quality for that money.
I bought second hand curtains from a shop near me over 10 years ago and I think they were £200. They were as new, neutral, heavyweight & interlined, so a brilliant bargain. They are still up and look good.

I personally would look on eBay. I like being eco and you can get something more interesting and better quality than you could afford on the high street.
