Does anyone know whether door knobs need to be used in pairs, or whether it's possible to have one knob on one side of the door and a completely different type on the other?

Thank you for replies, I have also just come across Chloe Alberry she has does some lovely stuff. My DS loves the leather cricket ball door knob!

I'm currently renovating an Arts and Crafts house - looking at doorknobs from Willow And Stone

There are six pages of them and definitely some beehive ones in there.

Have posted this before a long time ago & still haven't got any further in my quest for really nice solid door knobs. Need to replace all the interior door knobs of Victorian cottage. Love the oak beehive or crackled ceramic ones. Anyone know of any quirkie online shops? Googled so much my brain hurts! Don't mind spending at bit more if really solid nice ones - as the kids have seemed to wiggle a & break the cheapy B & Q ones.
