DD has been doing this course alongside her A Levels and seems to think it carries UCAS points?

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Think so , but may be Level 2 equivalent rather than Level 3

Yes, but it depends what she wants to do after school.

From my perspective, it would suggest to me that she may struggle with a research-intensive (RG or 94 group) course. For the upper half of universities, she'll need the BTEC at all Distinction level, and unless she has excellent A Levels (As and Bs) she won't be one of those magic ABB non-quota applicants.

But this may not be a problem - if she enjoys the course, and it gives her what she wants to learn from it.

Assuming it's a level three (A Level equivalent) course, then yes it does carry UCAS points.

The tariff table is here www.ucas.com/how-it-all-works/explore-your-options/entry-requirements/tariff-tables

Yes BTEC qualifications do carry UCAS points, but that doesn't mean that it'll be included in an offer. It depends on what she want to do and where. Many courses make offers based on A-level (or equivalent) grades, not UCAS points.

BTEC at National Level do carry UCAS points, and can count as within an ABB offer. But it is quite complex. The details are here:

Thankyou all very much for your advice.

She is doing 3 A levels as well (estimated A's in all so far) but she seems to be dedicating a lot of time and energy to this course!

Her other subjects are Biology, Chemistry and English Lit. She has always maintained that she wants to study Agriculture but seems to be having a change of heart and is considering primary teaching now Hmm

Well, that plan looks fine. And it's great for her to study things out of interest, rather than what will help her "get on."

If she's got three A Levels then she'll be absolutely fine
