which degrees have work placements? Teaching, social work but what else ?

I know social workers have work placements as part of their degree and also teachers. But what other degree/professions do?

Some business studies courses include a sandwich-type placement. Well they did, don't know if that's still applicable.

A lot of the programmes at Bath University - every one of my DSis' friends (on varying courses) had the opportunity to have a paid placement with university well-being liaison person. DSis ended up working for an accountancy firm and completing the first year of their graduate programme. The company paid for her to start her accountancy qualification, although she's training to be an auditor. She was 21, absolutely tiny and apparently managers quaked in their boots when she arrived because she had The Auditing Clipboard of Doom

I think more universities should offer these chances - it's done her so much good and she has a head start on everyone who went to bog-standard unis (like me) who have no professional work experience.

I think Childhood Studies has placements (unless you're already working in a childcare setting)

Surrey s another university that prides itself on offering placements to as many students as possible over a wide range of courses.

I think a lot of Business courses include work placement. My students this year chose courses at Newcastle, Sussex, Brighton, Leeds and Durham - they all have a one year work placement so are four year courses.

I know of someone doing a Retail Management degree at Loughborough, which has a year long placement for the third year.

Modern foreign languages usually require a year abroad. Can be a work placement but doesn't have to be.

Brunel university placements for engineering.
Some Science degrees e.g. Bristol have the option of a year in industry or a year in Europe and are 4 year courses. But you need to choose this option on the UCAS form.
Other medical related degrees e.g. Pharmacy and radiography have placements in hospitals.
BUT a word of warning. These placements may not be paid and some universities do more than others to find placements for students. Some expect the students to find the placements themselves!

Some psychology degrees do, but not all. The ones I know that offer a placement year are Cardiff, Surrey, Loughborough, Bath.
