FLYing through April: Fledglings Spring into Action

(605 Posts)
GoingGoingGoth Sun 31-Mar-13 17:38:37

Welcome to the April Fledgling FLYers thread

... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of and chatting along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

- start or repeat baby steps

- repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

- reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site is here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on.

Thanks to SC, Blue & Silvery for leading us through since January and for the brilliant OP I've just cut and pasted.

Thanks Goth and to Silvery for March. thanks smile

*************************************************
Here are the links we'll need for tomorrow:
Babystep 1 - Shine your sink. This is the most important one and the foundation of the system we follow.
Sneak peak for the week. Monday Sweep your front porch area around, shake out welcome mats and wipe down your front door.
Information on zones Zone 1 is Entrance, Porch and Dining Room
Daily focus for Monday- weekly home bleugh blessing
This month's habit making your bed, the one thing I can do.
The flightplan if anyone needs a quick check on where we are.

Use the parts that you want to and remember there is no such thing as being behind, just jump right in.

Fingers crossed these links work and I haven't missed anything.

Marking my place grin

GoingGoingGoth Sun 31-Mar-13 22:23:50

Back again, probably won't be posting again until tomorrow evening, as I'm assisting Kid's Club all week. So have amalgamated Sunday & Monday to give myself a head start.

Done
Beds
Windows washing up
Laundry on
Cinema trip with Dd to see 'Rise of the Guardians', enjoyed it, but it did remind me of Terry Pratchett's Hogfather
Laundry hung outside (DH didn't see it or hear me ask (twice) hmm)
Brief argument with Dh
Hid DD's eggs around flat, took her 10 mins to find them all
Took Dd to Easter event at local park
Rolled egg down a hill!
Dinner
Cut Dh's hair (a bit short-passive aggressive much?)
Vacuumed through flat, giving hallway & rugs a good going over)
Tidied shoe rack, put wellies away
Washing in
Ironing
Washing up & SS

Phew, time for bed soon

SilveryMoon Sun 31-Mar-13 23:49:31

Woo-hoo, I am now officially off the hook although I went out this afternoon and got completely drunk so haven't done round up for Sunday.
Thanks all for sticking with me through March and def sure we'll have a great April.
Thanks to goth for taking over.
My to do right now is to go to bed and to sleep and not vom at all in the night. Had a huge mixture of shots on top of a few bottles of wine, some champagne and a couple of vodkas.
The litter tray might not get cleaned tomorrow if I'm feeling hung over and I did not complete my list for Sunday sad
Back in morning

MercuryRising Mon 01-Apr-13 01:58:06

Hello ladies grin

I only managed two weeks flying in March, but I thought I would try yet again in April. As we have two weeks of holidays it should be slightly easier as Im at home a bit more.

I hope you are all having a lovely Easter smile

Sounds like you have had a fab night Silvery, maybe lazing in the sofa watching Easter telly and scoffing chocolate is a more realistic plan than cleaning the litter tray tomorrow.

Honu Mon 01-Apr-13 09:59:11

Just checking in again in the hope that the todo list and the clutter will reduce this month rather than increase majestically as they did in March.

Thanks to Silvery who decided to celebrate the handover of responsibility for the thread in style, and to Goth for taking over.

Two weeks holiday here too, but looking at all the commitments and DH hospital, doctor, dentist appts I have put off till now I don't see much rest time for flying in them. Still - a quiet day today - shall make coffee cake then set the timer for some flying.

happy Easter smile

so I did most of the baby steps last month, what do people recommend I try to do this month? continue babysteps, plus decluttering? I haven't done the control journal yet either.

yesterday I decluttered the Tupperware drawer, exciting times. I also made dp declutter his tshirts - he has three drawers full of them shock.

Jamillalliamilli Mon 01-Apr-13 10:25:51

Silvery thanks for leading March, and Goth thanks for April.

Waves to all. I can’t even try and fly properly yet, but the thread continues to motivate, provide useful ideas, and keep me going. thanks

Easter here is a little confused and April fool came early. Easter nests comprise of Lindt chocolate Santa, being snuggled by tiny Lindt bunnies, nesting on mini eggs, and it's trying to snow outside.

No one seems to mind, it's all celebratory, chocolate, and shiny foil and chocolate and tissue and chocolate. (Times are difficult and the big Santa's where 25p! smile )

SC So glad to hear you’ve re-found your mojo. smile
Couldn't even lurk in the end but caught up yesterday then fell asleep before posting! I haven’t made the deadline (too many injuries) and am still trying, but now have a van (yippee even if it did put my shoulder out adapting to it!) which will help, and a small, much needed time extension thanks to the snow stopping the builders, (silver lined clouds, but it also stopped me!) and Easter. It’s total chaos here, new deadline’s 4 days time, and we go away for a week the day after, (and catch up lots of paperwork, insurance claims, and major exam revision) and come back to the essential repairs/re-build done, and start again.
It’s all going to happen isn’t it? grin

Jamillalliamilli Mon 01-Apr-13 10:30:42

Mrs B I'm not the best person to answer, but I think it depends on if you have a lot of clutter or not. If you do, then best to carry on back round plus decluttering, until you've reduced the clutter and everything has places.
Someone with good knowledge will be along soon.

SilveryMoon Mon 01-Apr-13 10:31:47

Morning.
mrsb yes, I think you should re-inforce the babysteps (do the ones that aren't complete crap again) and add 15 min decluttering to your day.
I'm going to add a new page to my control journal about the babysteps.

I aqm feeling much better than I did at 5 this morning, so going to get in the bath and then today, finish yesterdays jobs and make a start on todays.

To Do
Make beds
Clear breakfast
Feed cats
Swish and swipe
get dressed
clean litter trays
dust/polish
Rubbish out
Print off new tick sheets for my cj
Laundry
Babystep
Hoover
Mop
Menu plan for this week and write shopping list
Food shopping
Quick clear of car
Washing machine drawer
Hotspot
Sort dry clothes
Non iron away
Stray item dash
Clean kitchen
Mission/detail clean
Lay out clothes
Check diary
Study
Shine sink
Bleach plugs

Had better get a move on.

Happy Easter [bsmile]

Thankyou to silvery and goth for March and April respectively

Need to make a bit more of an effort this month, not least with body clutter as it's my sisters wedding in 6 weeks and my bridesmaids dress looks truly dreadful on me (it's not a bad dress, just makes me look very hippy and about 5 months pregnant).

Good news on the van just. It must be frustrating to have it still dragging on, but Hooray, you're nearly there grin. Hang on in there bet you can't wait to get away!

I could do wiith a bit of a kick up the bum tbh. Our house is just horrible at the moment - I spend far more than the specified flying time on cleaning and tidying, but it just gets worse and worse sad. Everything is grubby because we live down a muddy lane and extremely cluttered. I don't know what to do about it all really. Our house is too small. I have ruthlessly thrown things away and have no room in the house for more storage but am still drowning in 'stuff'. I can't get anything clean because of the clutter and I am sick of washing the sofa cover every 2 days because it is covered in muddy pawprints.

Plus I feel rubbish at the moment - overtired I think this always happens in the holidays. I haven't had any alcohol since thursday but feel really badly hungover and knackered. Can literally hardly open my eyes they are so puffy and sore and I feel exhausted.

Bah, sorry I'll stop whinging now and get on with it. Baby steps and all that smile

To do
Meal planning
Online shopping
couple of bin bags worth of decluttering
Fold and put away washing
Go to tip
Go to B&Q
Put new handles on cupboard of doom
Polish kitchen table.

Will see how I get on and possibly add more later. happy flying smile

feetheart Mon 01-Apr-13 12:33:07

Marking my place.

Huge thanks to Silvery for March and Goth for taking over the reins for April thanks

Can I be the first to ask if April can be the new January grin

pushme - sounds as though the endless winter has really got to you. Hopefully a little sunshine will be along soon and make you feel better. Keep going with the babysteps because at least things will be better than if you don't do them - it sort of works for me when I'm struggling (which seems to be quite often)

SC - glad your mojo has returned, here's hoping it stays.

PA - didn't get to comment on your return in March but it was LOVELY to hear from you. I really hope you are keeping a diary about your adventures/exploits and are planning a book. I still grin like a loon when I think about the pigeon-poking episode you described so eloquently many moons ago smile

Right...April...a new month. I will do the babysteps, I will continue to declutter, I will get the house ready for builders in May (eek!) and I will do something in the garden (note complete lack of specifics smile)

Happy Bank Holiday everyone.

ToffeeWhirl Mon 01-Apr-13 12:38:17

<peeks out from naughty corner>

feetheart Mon 01-Apr-13 12:40:15

Is there any chocolate left in there Toffee?

SilveryMoon Mon 01-Apr-13 13:02:12

Just sent dp to Tesco for the food shop, which means 1) I don't have to get dressed today, and 2) I won't be paying for it grin
I have done the dreaded task of looking at my bank balance and statement, and discovered that I am skint, have spent £1200 in 5 days! Not even sure how that happens, waiting for my statement to catch up with my balance.

ToffeeWhirl Mon 01-Apr-13 13:02:54

Not a lot, Feet.

<wipes mouth>

<whistles nonchalently>

CHBitchy Mon 01-Apr-13 13:25:35

Morning.

just Good luck with the on-going sort out!

Stuff to do includes teaching ds an important life lesson. Thy shalt not make toilet tissue wads and throw around bathroom. Because you will be cleaning the entire bathroom to sparkling standards including the toilet!

toy corner of doom has been greatly tamed and almost done the massive annual lego sort out shock

Shame my room is a complete disaster though sad. Tackling ds' room today...

Castlelough Mon 01-Apr-13 13:49:04

Hope everyone has been having a lovely Easter?
I've been a bit all over the place for the first week of the school holidays. My darling aunt passed away, and the week has been a bit of a blur. Glad I wasn't working, as I was able to go home to my parents. But now I feel I must achieve something this week!

Ok, 1st round up, hope I've got it alright, been watching Jonathan Creek whilst doing it.

SC has her mojo back grin

MercuryRising Honu & mrsbugsywugsy are still with us smile just take it 1 day at a time, I start fresh every month, and it does get easier

Just has had a Easter-Christmas chocolate mash up! Please keep posting, even if you're not Flying, it is lovely to hear how you are doing. Just think in 2 weeks the chaos should be all over.

push is decluttering, but fighting a battle against mud. It's been a long winter, hopefully this dry sunny spell will continue and you'll start to feel better. Remember the Fat Fairy does tell us that it takes years to collect all this stuff, so we can't change it all overnight. wine

feelheart asks if April can be the new January - of course it is, at this rate December will be the new January! And is in the countdown for builders in May

ellesabe is also determined that April will be the new January! Fingers crossed that DD2 sleeps through tonight

SilveryMoon has recovered from a boozy Sunday and been on a spending spree! Luckily her DH is paying for today's shopping, but hopefully she did get dressed eventually

ToffeeWhirl is lurking in the naughty corner <narrows eyes> hope you're not leaving chocolaty finger prints everywhere?

CHBitchy (STOP name-changing! <sobs>) has instructed her DS in some important life skills. He can come here if he needs further bathroom practice grin

Castlelough has had some sad family news, but has been able to support her parents thanks, she would also like chocolate, baking or both, I think she deserves it. Planting the onion sets would be a good start to the gardening year.

SilveryMoon will be concentrated on babysteps but has a nice shiny sink (always a good start)

Engelsemama has 2 child free days ahead - lucky you! but has to train for a 10k race in 7 weeks! Eeek!

Alarms set, time to consider bed perhaps?

Castlelough Mon 01-Apr-13 23:12:04

Thanks everyone for the kind comments smile. Early night for me, snug in bed. Managed a quick tidy, grocery shop and sink has been left steeping in a bleachy solution.
Goth thanks got the round up.

Morning all.

Forgot to say thanks to silvery for running last month.

Thanks for links and round up Goth

My list for today is mostly garden related. Still freezing here but the sun is shining and I can't ignore it any longer. I may come inside later in the day and try and do a little bit of decluttering and toidying in the bedrooms and bathroom. I never seemt o get to those spots as I'm always downstairs with DS on my day at home (and we don't have our stairgates on yet so hard fro DS to potter around upstairs with me).

To do
2x washing (first lot on)
Wash car done
Hoover and clean interior of car.
What's for dinner? - no idea right now
Hotspots
Hoover upstairs
Mission
Tidy up garden including - trimming back horrible prickly bush that I hate so we can dig it out at some point, deadhead roses I didn't do last summer blush , sweep and rake up leaves and debris, trim and tidy patch that will be rock garden very soon, clear patio and put out garden bench for lots of sitting in the sunshine, tidy tools in garage (at the moment there is a path to pick your way through all the rubbish), remove anything dangerous from junk area of garden, tidy area by back door.

DH has promised we are putting a gate on. He has the materials and now has to do some measuring and making. I have been desperate for this for years for privacy and security reasons and now we have DS it's safety above anything else (we live next to a fairyly busy residential road that is off a busier road out of town).

Jdub Tue 02-Apr-13 09:31:56

Good morning!!! What a beautiful day!!!!! I can see the sun and LOADS of blue sky!
It's been a lovely Easter break with just basic clutter management going on, but I can proudly report that my dcs seem to have learnt the benefits of 'picking up and putting away' plus one of my friends was staggered that I'd managed to keep a 'toy-free' lounge!

done
empty d/w
one load of washing on.
massive filing session
sorted box in cupboard

to do

more washing
hoover

Have a lovely day x

SilveryMoon Tue 02-Apr-13 15:16:07

So, I have decided to compile a list of the babysteps for my cj replacing all the crap ones with a step of my own.
Now I already get dressed so what can I make the job for the 2nd of the month?

Volare Tue 02-Apr-13 15:49:59

How about clearing out stash of takeaway menus, supermarket vouchers, junk like that? We have ours on a magnet on the fridge and it needs regular pruning!

SilveryMoon Tue 02-Apr-13 16:10:35

That is a good one. I don't keep stuff like that.
Maybe it could be the day that I clear the notice board but again that's not cluttered, only got stuff on there I need.
Am thinking maybe wipe the extraction hood but need it to be realistic so I actually do it........
Got it. I have a plastic tub that the bath toys live in that's looking rather manky. Maybe the 2nd could be the day that Shit gets bleached and cleaned

superfluouscurves Tue 02-Apr-13 16:32:14

Hello! En route here! (Using dh's lap top so short post) Hope everyone had a very happy Easter! smile

We had 14 people staying over in the end (thankfully not all of them ate with us all the time - plate and cutlery supplies were still stretched)

Humungous thanks to Silvery for running the thread so efficiently throughout mad March thanks. Enjoy your child-free time!

And huuuugggggeee thanks to Goth for taking up the mantle in April wine (already written fab round-up I see)

Castle many condolences - how sad for you and your family to lose a much loved aunt sad Particularly poignant at this time of year somehow too xxx (Thank you for your lovely message on other thread btw!)

Just glad you are ok! Was getting worried! Sending lots of energy through the ether to you for final 'push'! Sorry it's such tough going but thank heavens there is some resolution for you finally wine Enjoy your trip too!

Huge sympathies Pushme - felt exactly that way for last three months (and don't have work/travelling schedule you do) - really demoralising to feel so down - but have finally got some energy back - so I'm sure it will return for you too - take some walks in the countryside and suck up the sunshine xxxx . Big bunch of flowers here! (Meant to be daffodils!) Sounds like you need to be kind to yourself rather than have kick up bum - take it steady!!!

Oh no Ellesababe at your dh undermining yr decluttering efforts

A warm welcome to Volare!

V. jealous of your gardening efforts Engels and Castle

Glad sun is shining with you and you had a good Easter break Jdub!

Good luck with all your projects Feetheart and Snowgirl (I'm with you in spirit - am similarly determined this month!)

Greetings to Toffee thread not the same without you and Swan but good to see you popping in now and then. Hope all ok x

Hope you have a lovely day with your friends Mercury

MrsBugsy yes, depends on level of clutter. Suggest baby-steps + 15 mins decluttering in current zone per day if decluttering needed, if not, concentrate on missions. Up to you though -good luck!

Big waves to CHBitchy (trying to think what the CH stands for!) and everyone else I have missed. On dh's lap top which doesn't scroll very well so hope I haven't missed anything/anyone vital!!

Enjoy the holidays lovely fledglings - back in 10 days or so!

superfluouscurves Tue 02-Apr-13 16:33:34

Engelsemama Tue 02-Apr-13 19:39:12

Evening all!

Have a good trip SC

I have my thinking cap on for you silvery. I really need to start writing a cj again and getting my thoughts down. It makes it easier for me to stick to a routine.

As ever, my list was a bit optimistic though still happy with what I managed to get done.

Ta da
Washed car
Spent 3 hours pottering in the garden - tidied the garage a bit and filled up one green bin with garden waste from pruning and dead leaves.
Washing up
1x washing
Spent an afternoon MNing, eating choclate and watching trashy TV programmes that DH hates
Made dinner (risotto)
4.5k run this evening

Tomorrow
Hoover and clean inside of car
Spend another few hours in garden pottering around - especially sort out rock garden area prep and back door area. Start cutting back horrible prickly bush that I hate and cut back dead reeds.
Hoover upstairs
Washing x2
What's for dinner?
Trip to garden centre
Hotspots
Shred
Move armchair upstairs
Mission

Realistically I will probably do the garden/car in the morning and then enjoy having the house to myself again in the afternoon!

Time to undo my good work with a wine

SilveryMoon Tue 02-Apr-13 19:58:15

To Do
Clear breakfast done
Make beds done
Shower and dress done
Swish and swipe done
Feed cats done
Rubbish out done
Check links done
Laundry done
Mission/detail
Babystep done
Pay nursery fees done
Go to town done
Pop to Tesco done
Park done
Sort dry clothes done
Non iron away
Cook dinner done
Clean kitchen
Stray item dash done
Study
Ironing
Shine sink

So i got into bed and had a nap for a few hours!
I am still hoping to do a bit of detail cleaning and the washing up.

I spotted a thread in housekeeping about black mouldy crap round the rim of the bath. Some posters said about covering stains in bleach, packing with loo roll and coating in bleach again. I did that, left it on all day and now there is no black whatsoever around the bath!!!! grin grin grin
Just now got to figure out how to use that method on the grouting up the wall. Any suggestions? How will I stick toilet roll up the tiles? Masking tape won't stick, electrical tape?

ellesabe Tue 02-Apr-13 20:14:58

Cling film?

SilveryMoon Tue 02-Apr-13 20:24:57

Maybe. I keep mine in the fridge, it's easier to get off the roll without clingfilming yourself up iyswim. Not sure it'll be sticky enough, but will try it.
I think this week, I will ignore the missions and concentrate on cleaning up the grouting. (I altered the zones a bit to include bathroom in zone 1)

CHBitchy Tue 02-Apr-13 20:27:22

you have obviously never toilet papered a bathroom Silvery. One does not need anything to stick wet toilet paper to walls/ceilings/mirrors/tiles etc. It just needs to be wet!!! It will stick itself.

quiet day around here. we have all been feeling the effects of the shouting and stress yesterday.

SilveryMoon Tue 02-Apr-13 20:34:32

Ah, yes. I now have vague memories from my childhood. Will be giving it a go. Thanks grin

GoingGoingGoth Tue 02-Apr-13 21:31:03

Today's roundup will not be focussing on wet toilet paper and bathrooms, I've seen enough of that at work today! sad

Welcome to another new fledgling Volare, and welcome back to Snowgirl
I like your idea of ebaying an item a day.

Bitchy had an early night hmm and hasn't surfaced since, so is probably causing chaos elsewhere grin

Mercury was meeting friends from uni today but determined to fly first.

Jdub has the joys of self tidying DCs, only a bit envy

Castlelough had a full day planned, with some energetic gardening planned for the afternoon, lovely.

SC is/was on the road again (for some reason I keep singing those last 4 words!) and left a shortish post grin

ellesabe was sabotaged by her Dh (we've all been there, you just have to get rid of it when they're not around, same as with DCs) but still has a very respectable list, and the start of another good one for tomorrow.

Englesmama has been decluttering the garden! 1 green bag of pruning, good start to a tidy garden. AND a4.5k run afterwards!

And finally, today was the day that Silvery bleached the shit! There's nothing I can add to thatgrin

GoingGoingGoth Tue 02-Apr-13 21:39:17

LINKS FOR WEDNESDAY 3RD APRIL

Babystep 3 to explore the Flylady website. I do find the launch pad a good bookmark.

Mission is to clean off dirty fingerprints in dining room

Daily focus is on anti-procrastination, but I'm so good at it <wails> Disclaimer, you'll be sick of this joke by the end of the month

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

Castlelough Tue 02-Apr-13 21:54:29

Argh! My post has vanished angrysad.

Waves to everyone as I am too tired to write it again and am on my phone.
Thanks Goth for the links.
Have decided that during the school holidays I am changing "getting dressed to shoes" into "getting dressed to wellies" , as I have been much more productive in my wellies! smile

SilveryMoon Tue 02-Apr-13 22:03:37

Ha Goth grin
I have just packed out 6 vertical rows of grouting with bleach soaked kitchen roll. The place stinks!
How long do you reckon it;s safe to leave it on for? Will it be ok until morning? It won't erode the grouting or tiles will it?
have a bleach induced headache now. sad

CHBitchy Tue 02-Apr-13 22:05:50

Right I am thinking that i need a list as the second half of this week is going to get crazy...

Wednesday:
up
laundry
move wii for ds
folding
ironing
pack ds' stuff for his trip
sort out paperwork
meeting in next town
biscuit making
ds' clothes away
sort out stuff to go to ds' dad's house (can clutter things up there!!)
sort out stuff to go in car to go to training (including stuff i have forgotten was in there already)

There is so much that needs doing but i think that is a good place to start.

CHBitchy Tue 02-Apr-13 22:10:21

i'd be tempted to at the very least crack a window silvery couple hours would probably do it so midnight if you can stand to be up that late.

Am heading off for an early night as last night had a bout of elastic reoccurring child and ended up rather late. night.

SilveryMoon Tue 02-Apr-13 22:13:52

Thanks Bitchy The bathroom window is open. I had the bleach on the bath rim for about 8 hours, but yes agree with a couple of hours. The grouting is just a bit grey/brownish not the actual black mould so think I'll go in at about midnight like you say and take a bit off and check.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes Tue 02-Apr-13 22:45:11

Bit late for this time Silvery - but Flash Bleach Spray is really good for black tile grout, just spray on and leave for half an hour or so, repeat if necessary. i alternate it with Ecover Limescale remover (hard water area) but never mix the two. Thank you for last month's thread BTW, and thank you to Goth for taking over.

I'm in the naughty corner tonight. We did have a very good collective tidying session yesterday when I got to the end of my tether looking for something, but really need to embark on more decluttering. PMPY - apart from the muddy paw prints I know exactly how you feel.

SilveryMoon Tue 02-Apr-13 22:49:00

Thanks whoknows there is still loads to do and i don't really like the smell of bleach, just want to get it done as quick and easy as possible so i can concentrate on keeping on top of it.

silvery I guess you're on top of it now, but for future reference Lakeland do a mould spray that is fantastic for getting both black and orange/pink mould off grout. The spray bottle is beyond rubbish, but the stuff itself is very very good. literally spray it on and walk away.

CHB i remember many a happy hour as a child in the school toilets soaking loo roll and paper towels under the tap and flinging them up on to the ceiling blush. We were made to clean it off, which was less fun....

Not much official flying done here, but we have accomplished quite a bit of general housy stuff and am moreorless on top of routines. To make myself feel a bit better about it all here's today's list:

Ta da

Bought and assembled bookcase for DDs room
Declutter and tidy DDs room
Resultant bin bags to tip
Colour matched paint for hall and stairs
Painted massive window frame (1st coat)
1st coat gloss on stairs

Doesn't look that ong now, but it was very busy all day. Flatpack furniture and toddlers is not a brilliant combination grin

SilveryMoon Wed 03-Apr-13 00:31:54

Thanks pmpy I think I will need to try something else. I left the tissue covered bleach on the wall for 2 hours but it's not had the result I was hoping for. Maybe should have left it on overnight.
I won't do that again or that much at one time. Only did it today because the boys aren't here so the chemicals wouldn't bother them.
I maybe should have left it on all night.
The strip I did this morning was on all day and came out perfect but I think the seal is silicone or something.
I don't like using bleach when the boys are here, too strong smelling and chemical for their little lungs.

Right, off to bed. Goodnight.

CHBitchy Wed 03-Apr-13 00:39:35

i would say be care about the flash bleach spray. sets my asthma off ready badly really quickly. Can cope with the fumes of pure bleach better then flash bleach but sensitive to both.

Yeah, i know. still up. things not going to plan...

CHBitchy Wed 03-Apr-13 01:12:42

*careful

SilveryMoon Wed 03-Apr-13 07:00:51

Morning.
Thanks for that bitchy will bare it in mind.

I am awake and ready to get up before I would be if the boys were here. And I went to bed laterthan I normally would. Tut.
Back in a bit with a list

MercuryRising Wed 03-Apr-13 07:28:00

Morning all.
Hi Silvery - you are always on here so early I hope you are enjoying a nice relaxed brew as you are childfree.

I had a lovely day catching up with my friends yesterday but spent four and a half hours stuck in traffic trying to get home - luckily the dcs were fantastic and it was nowhere near as stressful as it might have been.

I'm going with my dm for a massage and manicure which she got as a deal through groupon - so another lovely morning.

Later Im planning on getting the dcs out in the sunshine this afternoon for a walk round the lake. After all the freezing weather we have had lately it feels like we should be making the most of being able to get outside.

To do
Up and dressed
Dcs up and dressed
Beds made
Dw unloaded/reloaded
Washing folded off airer
Washing hung out
Wm reloaded
Laundry folded/ paired and put away
Ironing
Hoover car
Hoover throughout
Venture in the back garden to begin depooing - mammoth task after avoiding it for weeks blush
Ss
Shine sink
Make dinner
Weight watchers - after missing last night
Doctors (nothing serious)
Start revising
Mission

If I get all that done it will be a miracle!!

Have a lovely day everybodysmile

SilveryMoon Wed 03-Apr-13 07:45:05

Morning Mercury I know! Can't believe I'm awake so early. sad

Stray item dash

Think that'll do.

SilveryMoon Wed 03-Apr-13 07:45:33

CHBitchy Wed 03-Apr-13 09:27:08

Earlier start then planned today here too Silvery
Ds decided that before 6am was a good time to be up and full of the joys of spring which had to be shared hmm

ta da
Dough in machine for pizza for lunch
washing on
sort out stuff for going to a friend
boil up hand warmers
find ds' ds to keep him from under foot.
folding up-to-date (but currently washing so won't stay that way.)
put ds' clothes back into the now mended wardrobe
drink 3 cups of coffee in vague hope of attempting to feel awake

hi,

I haven't been on here much but am just about keeping on top of routines, plus decluttering. i have loads to do so will stick to that, for this month. today I sorted through a box of old paperwork.

re. control journal, I haven't done this yet and I was thinking of doing it electronically, maybe on an excel spreadsheet. has anyone done this?

my garden is a nightmare at the moment, l neglected it last year and now everything is overgrown.d

ellesabe Wed 03-Apr-13 18:39:41

I really think that the garden should be a whole separate zone of its own at this time of year.
After having put off my planting and weeding from yesterday's list, today was freezing so it remains undone.
We stupidly attempted a picnic in the park today but it started snowing on the way there and after only 10 mins we had to abort due to baby and toddler both screaming hysterically because they were cold sad ...I felt really bad

ellesabe Wed 03-Apr-13 18:43:28

Mercury - How was your massage? I was just thinking last night that I could reeeeally do with one of those! Haven't had one since dd2 was born and my shoulders are so clicky from all the holding/rocking when she was tiny.

mrs - I did consider having an electronic control journal but I don't actually spend much time near a computer (I mn on my iPod). Also, I appreciate the prettiness of a lovely notepad too much smile

Hi! Were back from long weekend in a very chilly caravan, and the house is feeling huge in comparison! My only ta dah for the day was writing 5000 words of my dissertation, but it was worth it! Fuelled by coffee and left over Easter eggs!

ellesabe I had a massage when I was pregnant with ds, it was the most amazing relaxing experience!

ellesabe Wed 03-Apr-13 20:48:27

5000 words in a day is pretty impressive sc! What are you studying?

Thanks! Ma in education, nearly there.. just got to hand this in by the end of may, strangely the combination of new baby+dissertation didn't really work, although my tutor reckoned I should've written it 'whilst the baby napped'hmm

GoingGoingGoth Wed 03-Apr-13 22:18:24

OK 2nd attempt at posting round up! Grrr

Silvery has hopefully recovered from her bleach induced headache by now. And has a lovely shiny bathroom.
Both she ellesabe and Bitchy had long lists today

WhoKnows came out of the naughty corner to recommendedFlash Bleach Spray alternated with Ecover Limescale remover (but not at the same time) for black mould, whereas PMPM suggested Lakeland's mould spray.

PMPE had a short list but a very effective one, small children, flat pack and paint is not a combination I'd like to try on the same day.

Mercury had a lovely day with friends yesterday but stuck in traffic trying to get home, luckily she has a massage today, so should be nicely relaxed

mrsbugsywugsy is on top of routines, plus decluttering. Don't worry about taking it further until you feel ready to.

ellesabethinks that the garden should be a separate zone, which is quite understandable, although timing it or the random weeks of good weather we get could be difficult! As shown by her snowy picnic grin, I think thermals next time.

Special is back from her long weekend in a very chilly caravan, and completed writing 5000 words of my dissertation, IN A DAY!!! All thanks to coffee and Easter eggs!

I have had a fairly productive day, getting back into the routine of full time work, plus incorporating Flying routines. I seem to do better in the mornings, so am going to get up 30mins earlier and get more done then. At least DH is hanging the washing out grin

GoingGoingGoth Wed 03-Apr-13 22:19:52

Special just seen the 'while the baby napped' comment, I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but I guess HE doesn't have children

GoingGoingGoth Wed 03-Apr-13 22:27:14

LINKS FOR THURSDAY 4TH APRIL

Babystep 4 is the post it note one. I've never understood why you would declutter your house to cover it in post its

Mission is to tidy away shoes & coats in the hallway

Daily focus is errand day

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

Castlelough Wed 03-Apr-13 22:27:44

Good evening all!
I managed to clean my filthy car and boot, and even had it washed (first time ever!).
Went to football training this evening and afterwards did a double take as i couldn't see recognise my shiny clean car!

Apart from that.... I did some knitting...does that count?? blush
<shuffles back to join WhoKnow in the naughty corner. Has a poke around in there for Lauren and Swan who I haven't seen in ages? where are they gone?sad>

SilveryMoon Thu 04-Apr-13 07:50:53

Morning.
Well, I managed to get FA done in terms of FLYing yesterday. We were out all day, didn't get in till 8pm.
The bleached paper on the grouting didn't really have the desired effect so I covered the wall in dettol anti-bac bathroomspray and left it all day. Looks better now, just needs a quich scrub and I think that'll refresh it nicely.
Today I plan to get everything done on my list, but we'll see!
Off to the dreaded soft play (again) today.
Have a good day everyone.

feetheart Thu 04-Apr-13 08:50:51

Morning everyone.

Did Swan make an appearance that I missed? <<waves at lurking Swan, also at Linzer and any other lurking old timers smile>>

ellesabe - massage is lovely, osteopath for post baby creaks is even better
Agree with garden being a separate area though also see Goth's point about the weather!
I have actually been doing 15mins a day in the garden this week in an attempt to do all the clearing up that should have been done in the Autumn. Its working smile Might try 15mins x 2 today but will have to be separated by a good few hours to warm me up again!

Special - 5000 words is very impressive, well done. shockshockhmmhmmhmm at tutor.

List for today:
- Feed DC plus DD's friend who slept over
- Morning routine
- Cook with DS as he will be feeling left out by the girls - bread and biscuits have been requested
- 15 mins x 2 in garden (maybe - I've just looked up and seen SNOW falling shock)
- Feed birds
- Menu plan/Shopping list
- Dinner prepped - needs to be on timer so ready when we get in later
- Research leasing a car - DH's car has died, currently using mine but logistics going to get 'interesting' next week when DC need to be ferried around to places that aren't easy walking/cycling distance. Any information would be helpful as we are clueless - I have a thread here
- Walk/cycle to diving with DC later

That's more than enough. Hope everyone has a good day.

ellesabe Thu 04-Apr-13 09:06:50

Morning all!
After a really good day yesterday I fell at the final hurdle and decided to have a long soak in the bath instead of finishing my list. Didn't even shine my sink. Whatever would flylady say? grin

Today dh has taken the car for its MOT so I'm stuck at home all day and hoping to make the most of it.

To do
Shower, dress to slippers smile S&S - done

special I did a MA in Education a few years ago so know exactly what you're going through! I didn't have a baby then but I was teaching full-time so ended up writing the whole 15,000 worded thing during the 6 weeks school holidays confused

CHBitchy Thu 04-Apr-13 11:30:20

i have a strong case of cba today. this is a problem as have lots to do...

thanks for the links Goth

special well done on writing 5000 words. I managed to get my dissertation finished two weeks before I gave birth. my tutor's wife had just had a baby so I got lots of sympathy from him for doing it at 8 months pregnant when I would have rather have been lying on the sofa eating cake.

just been pottering along trying to keep on top of laundry and routines today.

SilveryMoon Thu 04-Apr-13 15:12:27

Afternoon.
Had a nice morning with my friend at soft play. Although it was very busy so the session was limited to 2 hours. How they can still charge over £7 for an over 5yo and only allow you to stay 2 hours is a joke. angry

I have an appointment with the gp in a bit to have another look at this ear. Really hope there's not an infection there, am sure i just need it syringed, but it's a bit sore and the ringing is starting to get on my nerves after nearly 3 days.

Today's babystep is shite, so I haver decided that the 4th of the month will be bin bleach day.

Back later with my TaDa

Ellietryingtofly Thu 04-Apr-13 15:19:11

Hey everyone! I'm Ellie, new to mumsnet and new to flying! Really getting into it. Been shining my sink and lots of decluttering! Very keen to use the thread/lists to keep me going!

Volare Thu 04-Apr-13 15:20:30

Came to check how I should be flying, but got distracted by dissertation talk! I didn't complete mine when dd was a baby so have a pgdip. Planning to upgrade this eventually - did anyone do theirs with the OU by any chance?

Today I need to:
Catch up with baby steps already
Wonder how wrong it is to order dominos pizza for dd and I. She's 2. It's wrong, isn't it?
Wait for DH to finally come home and hold ds so I can Do Stuff.
Another wash and dw load.
Wipe stuff.
Clear at least 3 bags from spare room. Everything gets chucked there so it looks tidy downstairs!

SilveryMoon Thu 04-Apr-13 15:28:59

Welcome Ellie both to MN and to the thread grin.
Volare I don't think it's wrong to order pizza for dd. You don't do it every night, I'm sure she has a healthily balanced diet usually. Do it!

Right, must go to docs. It's still snowing a bit and will be cold. The docs is at the bottom of the road, it'd take 10mins to walk there, it'd be bad if I drove wouldn't it?

Ellietryingtofly Thu 04-Apr-13 16:41:16

waves

Will post my to do list to try and motivate myself:

Finish cleaning bathroom (windows, next to sink and window sill)
15 minutes decluttering
Shine sink
Cook dinner
Empty DW

more washing
Wipe round kitchen counters
Take out rubbish
Do some work (thinking of setting my timer to keep focused?!)
Hoover upstairs
Make beds blush

Will update later! xXx

ellesabe Thu 04-Apr-13 19:14:13

SilveryMoon Thu 04-Apr-13 19:38:03

Evening. I'm heading up the naughty corner tonight. I have brought wine and chocolate.
Haven't done much at all, really need to pull my finger out tomorrow!

ellesabe the plan was to get it done before DS was born, but then a stressful/worrying pregnancy meant I ended up postponing it for a year!
Mrsbugsy yep, I hated finishing school and then going straight to lectures, I'll be so glad when it's over! Not long now, I just need to hand something in by the end of May, even if I fail I just want it done!

Today was a fairly productive day!
Ta dah:
Hoovered downstairs and up
Cleaned laminate floor
2 loads of washing done
Swept and weeded around the porch
Sorted through show rack and letter rack
Hosted friends+ babies!

Tomorrow:

Read through and review dissertation notes after my Aunt has read it through and suggested some changes

Drive with DS to visit sister for the weekend!

Engelsemama Thu 04-Apr-13 20:09:35

Haircut and picked up a few bits for DS in town
DH and I both fell asleep for an hour on the sofa this afternoon while DS was having his nap blush

Washing-up
Supermarket
It is highly unlikely I will do anything else - have been a bit optimistic this week.

Sorry for lack of personals. Trying not to spend too much time online.

Waves from my parents' house. Been a slightly eventful day as ended up spending part of the afternoon at minor injuries unit with DS2. Cut his chin open on a climbing frame. sad he's fine now but we've got to keep the steristrips dry for 5 days!

SilveryMoon Thu 04-Apr-13 20:33:31

Oh Blue poor ds sad hope he's ok

Ellietryingtofly Thu 04-Apr-13 20:43:05

Pleased with how I got on grin xXx

ellesabe Thu 04-Apr-13 21:05:04

Ellie not bad for a first day!

Dh did go out in the end so I just did my exercise DVD and am really pleased I did. I was a but worried that it would be way too hard as I haven't done anything like it since having dd1 2.5 years ago. But it was totally manageable! I'm a bit sweaty but not too knackered. Let's see how much I ache tomorrow though shall we grin

Castlelough Thu 04-Apr-13 21:26:02

Also waving from parents house - here til Sunday, so as ususl flying will be minimal! grin

Welcome Ellietrying and Volare.

My car failed the MOT on 7 counts, mostly little ones, so feeling fairly happy hmm about that considering it is 12 years old!
Well done to the long listers.

LINKS FOR FRIDAY 5th APRIL

Babystep 5 is about writing down negative inner thoughts and then turning it around into something positive. hmm I'm a fully signed up lentil-weaver but even I can't do that!

Mission is to dust the window sills, the lights and corners etc.

Daily focus is to declutter purse & car

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

ellesabe Thu 04-Apr-13 21:46:39

goth what is a lentil weaver? <ignorant>

GoingGoingGoth Thu 04-Apr-13 22:19:10

First of all a quick welcome to Ellietryingtofly who has done a great first day list and managed a quick workout too.

Castle has a clean car and then went to football training! (Hope it stays clean) and yes knitting does count. She's now at her parents for the weekend, but hopefully will still be popping in to see us. Hope the car MOT repairs aren't too expensive.

Silvery was doing her grouting again, it may not be white yet, but there will be NO GERMS, unlike at soft play. Hope your ear clears up soon.thanks And I think making Babystep 4 bin bleach day is genius, I looked at mine the other morning and thought I hope we're due to clean it in the kitchen zone! <goes off to naughty corner, to help Silvery eat chocolate>

feet has a great list, and sounds very organised in the garden.

ellesabe didn't shine her sink last night but had a long soak instead (good girl), today's list more than made up for it.

Bitchy CBA, so will probably only have a normal length list rather than the normal humongous one!

mrs is keeping on top of laundry & routines.

Volare got distracted by dissertation talk! I try to avoid other threads until after I've finished flying, please note the word TRY, I'm hardly ever successful.

Special had a successful & social day. Hope you have a good weekend at your sister's.

Engelsemama didn't feel she was productive but had a family nap time. You must have needed it the rest. A 'slack' day doesn't hurt anyone.

Blue should have been relaxing at her parents' but instead was at the minor injuries unit with DS2 who cut his chin open on a climbing frame. Hope he's ok now.

Yes, I read the guardian, veggie, have had an allotment, cycle, wear long ethnic skirts (but not when cycling)

Sorry, meant to add that you're not ignorant.

SilveryMoon Thu 04-Apr-13 22:30:14

Goth Although the bin cleaning does come up often in the kitchen zone, I reckon I am more likely to do a 1 off job rather than 15 min detail iyswim.
Trying to think of what to do for tomorrow instead of that crap babystep. Was thinking the extraction hood, but maybe I should do something in another room/area of life.

bakerofcakes Fri 05-Apr-13 06:23:54

Good morning ladies, I really need to start flying again. I fell off the thread through February and March due to ill health following a series of colds which left me with a chest infection. I only had enough energy to drag myself to work, everything else fell by the wayside. The house is in a mess again and I need to get sorted out.

Off to work now, but will be back later to check on the mission for today.

GoingGoingGoth Fri 05-Apr-13 08:47:39

Good morning all, just a quick post this morning.

Hello Baker, welcome back, hope you're feeling alright, just take the Flying slowly, a little at a time is better than than one big push which burns you out <stares at Bitchy>

Next week, zone 2. The grouting in the kitchen could do with a re-fresh too..........

Ellietryingtofly Fri 05-Apr-13 19:16:52

When do we move on to the next zone/where do we find out what it is?

Done:
SS bathroom
Cleaned bedroom/bathroom doors
Empty dishwasher
Reload dishwasher
Washing
Lovely lunch with friend
Took rubbish out

To do:
Wipe kitchen counters
Shine sink
Throw away any rubbish from bedroom
Work (will set timer to motivate myself)

Does anyone have problems with their other half when it comes to cleaning etc? The harder I try to keep things tidy, the more things he leaves lying around... I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. I've been making extra effort with keeping the house nice for a while and now I've decided to try flylady a bit more seriously but I'm starting to wonder why I'm bothering? I have a good morning routine when dd/I'm at school (I'm a teacher) but that goes out the window when it's holidays but generally helps keep on top of things. I'm learning, slowly but surely! Just need to sort out my other half and I stand half a chance!! xXx

SilveryMoon Fri 05-Apr-13 20:18:45

Ellie It's a different zone each week. Starting on Monday. There are no missions over the weekend, the FLYlady system aims to have us doing the work in small bursts during the week so we can enjoy the weekend.
Goth is leading the thread this month (we take it in turns to be thread leader) and will post all relevant links to the website in the evening when she does her daily round up.
Re OH, I struggled for years, mine is a lazy sod when it comes to being at home, but he is slowly picking up and is helping more. He is even using my tick lists occasionally! grin
My advice would be to just keep doing what you're doing. This system (or any system) is for you. The rest of the house will get on board eventually. I, for years, made a huge thing of walking around the flat checking what had or hadn't been done, especially when he had a day off and I'd been at work and saying things like "Let me just do everything else and then I'll make a start on dinner" wink

SilveryMoon Fri 05-Apr-13 21:45:23

Louise You clearly haven't seen one of bitchy's lists! Now that is someone who gets a lot done!

GoingGoingGoth Fri 05-Apr-13 23:39:33

Evening, finally getting a sit down (disclaimer, did have an hour in the bath earlier)

Silvery thinks she hasn't done much this week, I beg to differ, it may not be as much as usual, but she's not been a slouch, especially after the very respectable list today, and the grouting saga.

Bitchy on the other hand grin..... Has probably been tearing around like a nutter as usual, but just CBA to post.

elles has had a lie in, very envy and thought she needed to workout harder! She was wrong.

Ellie is very keen and already asking about the next zone! We need to introduce her to the naughty corner, there's chocolate & wine
Re OH, been with mine 20 years, and even though I'm newish to Flying, I've always been tidy even when we were in a student house, there are somethings I've got him trained over, and some things which are a constant battle like doing ALL the drying up but I find he does appreciate a tidier house and even DD helps out now! I think Bitchy had a good mantra earlier this year 'Tidy is the new normal'

Louise had a bout of list envy (it happens to us all) just don't try to match Bitchy. Not that Silvery's aren't impressive <grovels> Just remember it's about doing what you can. The chaos didn't occur in a day, and so it will take time to conquer. IMO the sink shining puts a lot of people off but to me it means having a clear start first thing in the morning. I hate getting up to face a sink full of pots, so it does make it worthwhile, even if it is late when you're clearing what's been left behind by DH

And finally, the earlier starts are helping me get on top of everything. Still a managing to keep Mount Washmore to a reasonable size, and the flat is fairly tidy. I am looking forward to a lie in tomorrow, and then spending the day with DD.

Take it easy Bitchy, have a relaxing weekend.

Made a good start when I came home from work yesterday and got three loads of washing done and hung on clothes horses to dry overnight. Also washed up, but then cooked tea so have another mountain of pots to face this morning.

As it's family fun day I am off out to lunch with my mum today. Will start the home bleugh when I get back (don't have time or energy to do it on Mondays). First load of washing is in, the pots are soaking then I am off for a nice lazy bath.

Other plans for the weekend include some garden decluttering, and I have some snowdrops to plant.

Bitchy has been to A&E and has been told off for over doing things! Can't imagine why. Hopefully a weekends rest will rejuvenate her and some smaller lists for a while. thanks Hope you feel better soon.

baker has been tackling Mount Washmore, some gardening and the weekly bleugh, but on the up side is having lunch with her mum, hope it was good.

Silvery is taking over as scary list poster, despite having a long lie in envy I think you will deserve tonight's wine

Ellie will have to name change from 'tryingtofly' as she seems to be getting the hang of it very quickly grin

I was looking forward to a lie in this morning, however DH kindly woke me with a cup of tea at the normal time (grrr), before exclaiming "Oh, you're not at work today!" So I switched the washing machine on before crawling back in for another 2 hours. I've also started on the weekly bleugh and keeping on top of the laundry, but mainly had spent a few hours with DD at the library, Farmer's Market and park. Am hoping to do some baking with her tomorrow.

Sorry for lack of personals - out to pound the pavements now!

I have only just woken up and am considering going back to sleep BUT am going to head out to the shops for some slightly stronger pain killers. doubt I will get much done though. :/

I think I'm setting myself up for a bit of failure. So, deciding that I need to add a job on every day that I will do regularly, and I know the more it gets done, the quicker it will be to maintain, but am I really going to clean the oven on the 4th of every month? When it's a work day?
I haven't got the time to do the misiions and the detailed cleaning, so normally just end up setting a 15min timer and do a mix of both, depending on what the mission is.
I find it hard to get round to all the jobs in each room, but again, it will be easier if I stick to the system won't it?

I also want to decorate. The place needs a touching up before we can sell it, but that's about 2 years off. Dp thinks I should wait and do it nearer the time so looks nice when we sell.

CHBitchy Sun 07-Apr-13 14:21:58

based on the way rooms need doing here, tbh if you do it now it will need doing again for selling. especially based on the fact that ds has decided writing on the walls is a good thing. hmm I'd say you are best to wait.

SilveryMoon Sun 07-Apr-13 14:27:43

Thanks bitchy you and him are probably right. Once I get an idea in my head, it's usually full steam ahead though! grin
That sucks about your ds drawing on walls. A lad in my class at work has been doing this and his parents are going to try to turn 1 wall into a whiteboard with the hope that when he is given an appropriate place, he will stop doing it everywhere.

CHBitchy Sun 07-Apr-13 14:34:09

yeah that didn't help. ds is all or nothing. the chalk board on the wall has made things worse here. <sigh> there are some interesting little messages though. Do you fancy getting the idea of doing my paperwork in you head? It needs sorting. and I hate paperwork thank you winkgrin

SilveryMoon Sun 07-Apr-13 14:37:08

grin bitchy
That's how I reckon this boy will be with the white board thing. All or nothing. I don't think he can separate the fact that you can draw on one wall but not the others. Obviously, hope it works out for the parents sake.
Good luck with the wall thing, am sure both of you can agree on something. How old is your ds btw?

CHBitchy Sun 07-Apr-13 14:52:01

8yo. tbh there have been bigger issues so it hasn't been dealt with due to choosing battles iyswim. he also likes to pick wall paper. drives me mad because he only does it in the hall and not his room. but there are worse things he can be doing

SilveryMoon Sun 07-Apr-13 14:53:06

Absolutely bitchy pick your battles for sure.

<slinks into naughty corner, opens wine and offers to one and all in the hope that getting them pissed will mean they don't notice lengthy absence>

Just flying by with a promise to be back in a couple of days. Am currently on holiday in Filey so no flying but back home on Tuesday so will return with a renewed spirit then.

Home situation has calmed down and things are returning to normal so hopefully can get back on it now all is good in the elliepac household. Am returning a year older as it was my birthday last week. Why does 36 sound soooooo much older than 35? On a positive note, I went shopping for my birthday and bought 2 pairs of jeans which are a size 14. I haven't been a size 14 since I was about 19 so am feeling quite pleased with myself after losing over 4 1/2 stone. <goes and hides any threads which mention vanity sizing and ignore the fact that it was a 16 in another shopwinkgrin>.

i love you all. Big waves to everyone old and new. Everytime I drop off for any length of time I find myself missing you guys after being here for over 3 yearssmile.

<staggers back into naughty corner and collapses in a drunken heap, just the thought of tackling the cleaning has wiped me outwinkgrin>

GoingGoingGoth Sun 07-Apr-13 21:08:50

Only a quick update as my To do list included watching Once Upon a Time with wine

Very quiet morning here today, hopefully a sign that everyone was having relaxing days <that means YOU Bitchy) Hope the painkillers are working now and that DS is back in line.

Silvery was first up (with a huge list) followed by Engels who again doesn't think she's doing much but managed a 5k run!

SC had a flying visit (pun intended grin) just to report in, and let us know she's started a health & fitness routine. 'M please to report my calorie & exercise app does have calories for moderate and heavy housework! So not only are we cleaning our homes, we're fat burning too!

Blue has had a lovely week with her parents - no cooking or cleaning.

ellie is spending time in the naughty corner, as long as you bring wine that's good for me! She needs to celebrate, as it was her birthday last week (Arians rock!)

Ellietryingtofly Sun 07-Apr-13 21:11:08

Had a really bad day so hiding in the naughty corner. Hopefully things will improve in the next few days sad xXx

[Waves back to everyone]

Relieved to know housework counts Goth although not doing much of it at the moment

Cheers [hic] to Elliepac - glad all well with you and yours

This thread is getting confusing: two Ellies and two SCs!!

Hope you are OK Bitchy

Had better go, see you all next week!

Engelsemama Mon 08-Apr-13 12:57:57

Afternoon everyone!

Happy belated birthday elliepac [balloons and birthday cake]

Glad you had a good holiday Blue

ellietrying hope today is a better day for you.

I am making the most of my day off before parents evening and teaching tomorrow.

Ta da
-hoover downstairs
-water plants
-clean glass in door between kitchen and lounge
-lounge hotspot 5 mins
-internet banking
and finances
-order lovely plants books and bird book
-one load washing (in td now)
-put out plastic recycling bags reeady for tomorrow
-tidied out handbag
-dusting in lounge
-cleaned coffee table
-supermarket/C&A (got a bargain jumper for DS..one of the last ones since obviously no one wants to buy jumeprs in the bastard cold spring)/garden centre
-DS fed and in bed
-What's for dinner? ( very classy fish fingers/mash/beans - nop garlic before parents evening!)

Now I have a few hours while DS naps to myself. I SHOULD go outside and sow the sweet pea seeds I just bought and perhaps some sunflowers, and dig over the veg patch ready for some seedlings, but the lure of MN and trashy TV is too much atm.

Volare Mon 08-Apr-13 15:45:29

louise We use an Excel spreadsheet (DH has done the technical wizardry; I admire its prettiness). It lists all our regular outgoings (gas, elec, c tax etc) and budget for food and 'other'. At the beginning of each month we enter the amount in our bank accounts (once the pay has gone in) and it tracks what is being spent where in theory. I may be too lazy to keep updating it.

Hope everyone is having a productive day, or at least having fun in the naughty corner. A combination of a shortish to-do list, a toddler out of the house and a napping baby (this never happens) means I'm getting stuff done. Need to get off MN before I get sucked in!

been away for the weekend so no flying done. today's list

done
washing
swish bathroom
feed cat
up, dressed, breakfasted
take dd to baby clinic
go shopping for birthday presents and buy no presents but buy myself shoes

*to do
shine sink
yoga
express milk
sort parcels for eBay
book car into garage
buy presents online

CHBitchy Mon 08-Apr-13 16:01:23

Nope two ellies and two SCs are now on the thread. Sorry silvery and sorry for poor goth who is trying to keep track of who is who.

elliepac Mon 08-Apr-13 17:06:59

Yep sorry for confusing peoplegrin. Me and ellietryingtofly are two different people. If i were to take that approach I would call myself elliemiserablyfailingtoflyafter3feckingyearsbutslightlypastgivingashit grin

elliepac Mon 08-Apr-13 17:12:34

And thanks for the birthday wishes engels and cakesmile. I am going to eat it all tonight as returning home tomorrow and diet restarts in earnest!

SilveryMoon Mon 08-Apr-13 19:40:07

blush Whoops blush
Sorry to the 2 ellies

Had a nice day with a friend of mine. Have spent more than enough time at softplay this half term!

Just eating dinner now, but have done all my jobs today and started on the grouting in the kitchen. I feel an obsession coming on

GoingGoingGoth Mon 08-Apr-13 21:23:30

1st of all thanks to Bitchy who appreciates the confusion over all the similar names, it's not like I don't already have form for mixing up Silvery & SC blush
Elliepac PLEASE don't change to elliemiserablyfailingtoflyafter3feckingyearsbutslightlypastgivingashit
Even reducing it to emftfa3fybspgas is a bit much! grin

Snow is intending to do some of this weeks missions grin

EllieTTF went to the zoo, I wish you'd said yesterday, then we could have all sung "Ellie's going to the zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow...." No, only me then?

Louise has had a lovely weekend, and is starting ww today. Re the budget, I have a spreadsheet that I adapted from the Martin Lewis Money Saver Expert site. It's good for tracking where the money goes.
Hope your DS settled down eventually.

Volare is starting to fly again, it doesn't matter how many attempts it takes, one day it will all fall into place (well, that's what I'm hoping)
I also like the idea of 'tending' to DCs in a loving, calm, uber-mummy fashion!

Engels is bracing herself for teaching & parents evening tomorrow, would wine help?

mrs has returned from her weekend away, hope it was fun, and has dived back into flying (dived?flying? Hope the grammar police don't drop in)

Silvery has returned to the grouting obsession, but is in the correct zone this week wink

I have been brave this week and looked at the detailed cleaning list. So far I have cleaned the fridge, microwave & work tops, don't know how long this will last.

GoingGoingGoth Mon 08-Apr-13 21:29:39

Thanks for links goth I was in my correct zone last week. I adapted zone 1 because I have a small hallway and entrance bay and no dining room so moved the bathroom from zone 3 so that could just be boys bedroom.

elliepac Tue 09-Apr-13 12:02:42

Morning everyone!

Back home now and feel the needs for a list. DH has been at home since Thursday on his own and you can tell......

To do:-
Unpack suitcase
Washing x lots
Drying x lots
Putting away x lots
Put everything else away
General tidy of whole house
Quick clean of whole house
Food shop
Collapse

If I can restore some type of order then tomorrow I can get back to flying properly.

Back later.

CHBitchy Tue 09-Apr-13 14:11:25

Am pinching Ellie' last item on the list. That is all I am doing today after the errands that were run this morning. you will find me in the naughty corner asleep. Flying? what the fuck is that?
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

elliepac Tue 09-Apr-13 15:48:12

Ta da:-
Have done whole list apart from food shop.

Am about to do food shop and then the final thing on my listgrin.

Castlelough Tue 09-Apr-13 15:56:13

Am also stealing elliepac's last item... being back at school has wiped me out. How is it possible to be this tired and under-motivated after having two weeks off work??? And my two sisters are coming to visit/stay on Sat for the night...and chaos reigns.... sad

I am utterly determined to get the spare room/hell hole properly decluttered once all the bathroom stuff is finally gone. We also have a chance to chuck loads of things when they clear the old bathroom stuff (yay!) so I've made a big pile of wires and dead routers for DH to inspect...

Meanwhile I've been looking in the boxes of doom. I got overwhelmed and put them all back though. What should I do with all the letters, postcards, birthday cards, new baby cards, new home cards we've ever had... I can't quite bear to throw them, will probably never look at them again either. There are too many to all get cut up for sticking. Are there any sensible ways of filing/storing/archiving them? [help] blush

Ellietryingtofly Tue 09-Apr-13 16:46:37

<peaks out from the naughty corner> ok so I didn't go to the zoo but I met SIL and the kids after they came back, ended up staying at their house eating popcorn and watching trashy tv, went to the cinema with them today and now back home lying in the bath whilst DD watches tv. Need to actually do some jobs or all hell will break loose!

To do:
Make beds
Sort washing
Put dry washing away
Walk to shops and buy dinner (sainsburys delivery isn't coming til tomorrow)
Clean kitchen counters properly
Wash bin
SS bathroom
Shine sink
Hotspot
Check there's no rubbish floating around the house (bf isn't house trained properly yet angry )
Empty bins
Give DD bath

Think that's enough for this afternoon/evening! xXx

Engelsemama Tue 09-Apr-13 17:38:07

Evening all!

Even though I have been at work today I have a pretty good ta da list…and it’s not even seven o’clock grin

Yesterday’s washing away blush
Today’s washing on
Yesterday’s washing up blush
Today’s washing up smile
Delicious cassoulet for dinner (with English sausages..yum yum!)
Mission! (first time in ages) My bin is clean!
Swept kitchen floor
Put out paper recycling for collection
Sorted through junk mail
Emptied kitchen bin and kitchen scraps bin
Cleaned downstairs toilet/replaced towel

Still to do…
DS to bed
4k run (my running partner is busy today so I have to get out the door based solely on my own motivation..eek!)
Shower and face mask
I should do a set of marking for tomorrow and prepare some lessons (starting Animal Farm tomorrow and haven’t read or taught it for years confused )
Plan my outfit for tomorrow
Restock DS nursery bag

ellesabe Tue 09-Apr-13 18:49:21

Hi everyone.

I have been away for a few days with DH's work and haven't had time to catch up on the thread yet but hope everyone's ok.

Not done much today as we only got back mid-afternoon and dd1 didn't have a nap so required lots of -- meltdown avoidance-- supervision

Ta dah
Unpack
Cook dinner
Eat dinner
Bath dd2 and out to bed (in progress!)

To do
Wash up
Ironing
Eat ice-cream
Send emails
Shine sink

My biggest achievement today was throwing away a half-broken hand-blender that has been gathering dust on top of our fridge for over a year. Not such a big thing in itself, apart from the fact that it was at DH's suggestion !!! I almost fainted from shock! He even said that it felt good to throw something away shock

There is hope yet for my decluttering efforts.

Engelsemama Tue 09-Apr-13 20:19:18

Well, haven't done marking but everything else on my list done.
smile

Am hopping back on MFP because I feel like I have eaten my way through these last few months to try and get through the winter and am paying for it now especially as I wibble when I go running

Going to bed a happy fledgling smile

Engelsemama Tue 09-Apr-13 20:26:07

Blue I periodically go through letters/cards/postcards and every now and again I manage to actually throw things away!

I must say that most postcards go in the bin. I have held onto some postcards that I sent my parents when I was travelling a million years ago and put them with my photo album. I keep handwritten letters from my best friend and close family but everything else - BIN!

Same with things like moving cards/birth cards/wedding order of service and invitations. I always ask myself - how close am I to this person? If I still feel very close to them then I keep, otherwise - BIN! (and I usually end up revisiting my stash every year or so and thinning it further).

My best friend (who lives the other side of the world) and I correspond regularly through snail mail and cards as well as emails and I'm actually looking forward to use sitting together when we're old and grey and laughing our way through our letters.

As a teenager and student I used to make great photo albums and stick in ticket stubs, cards and postcards but now I cba!

Ellietryingtofly Tue 09-Apr-13 21:03:55

ummmm so im very well initiated into the naughty corner.

To do:
Make beds done
Sort washing
Put dry washing away
Walk to shops and buy dinner (sainsburys delivery isn't coming til tomorrow) done
Clean kitchen counters properly half done
Wash bin done
SS bathroom
Shine sink
Hotspot
Check there's no rubbish floating around the house (bf isn't house trained properly yet angry )
Empty bins half done
Give DD bath done

oops...... grin

so proud of myself for actually washing out my bins! its one of those jobs i NEVER do! blush DD was really excited and found some rubber gloves and helped me! its nice shes trying to get involved with making the house nice! will start giving her little jobs to do i think grin xXx

GoingGoingGoth Tue 09-Apr-13 22:19:31

Bitchy flew on Monday (don't over do it!) Was Paul Hollywood's bread nice ? wink and after a busy morning today has hidden in the naughty corner.

Quick apology to Silvery re zones, I just thought you were being extra keen.
Was DS dry this morning? <crosses fingers>
How's your ears? And did you have fun at your Dad's?

Louise enjoyed the calm of a child at play group, and got loads done.

Jdub popped in out of the rain. Where a outs are you? We had lovely sunshine, but a horrible cold easterly wind today!

elliepac is tidying away after her DH....and completed her list and is hopefully collapsed resting

Castle is back at school today, and is understandably tired. But has visiting sisters to look forward to.

Blue is decluttering, but why are you showing your DH the cables, unless he's some sort of saint, you know they'll end up in his 'man drawer'
Re cards, if you want the space, but would like some record of them, why not photograph them, it's what I do with DD's daubings works of art.
Although I do have a box with some a lot of her baby stuff.

EllieTTF didn't go to the zoo, (but I've been singing all day! ahem) but had a popcorn/trashy TV/cinema day instead. And got her DD to help clean the bin, that's a good idea, small children fit in little spaces so much easier than Mummies.

Engels has completed an amazing list despite being at work. good luck with Animal Farm, not a fan of Orwell, had to do 1984 at school (in 1984). Saying that it was more interesting than Graham Greene.
I also use MFP (and input cleaning as exercise blush)

ellesabe has come back after a few days away(was it nice?) and has decluttered with her DH's help (ok I take it back Blue), but had an overtired DD.

I had a quiet day at work, which was good as DD had been up at stupid o'clock with a bad tummy ache. She's ok now, quite chirpy, but has spent most of the day on the sofa with a hot water bottle and LOTS of books.
Iam off to bed once I've done the links, as I feel absolutely drained. Bin will be washed tomorrow (maybe not, it's my birthday, and there are some things I refuse to do)

GoingGoingGoth Tue 09-Apr-13 22:26:43

LINKS FOR WEDNESDAY 10TH APRIL

Babystep 10 is about the 'power of 15 minutes' I think this is a good one. Even big jobs can be broken into 15 minute chunks and with breaks in between can be a lot less daunting.

Daily focus for Wednesday is anti-procrastination

Today's Mission is to clean the kitchen sink taps (with an old toothbrush)

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

SilveryMoon Wed 10-Apr-13 03:53:12

Yes, went to dads, took a birthday cake, boys sang happy birthday and then ate most of it!
Friend came round to do some reading with ds1 who felt very under pressure I think and cried but after being bribed with a pack of star burst did Ok.
Not much flying so need to claim a place in the naughty corner. Reason being that I saw something online about some horrible crimes against children carried out by someone I used to know. Knew the children too and all this was going on when I knew them and just feel numb andshocked. Have literally spent all day looking at the article thinking it'll change you know?
Anyway, not something I can do anything about and know it's not about me it's about those boys whose lives have been ruined but wish I'd known what signs to look for. But sure everyone that knew them feels the same.
Tomorrow will be a better day.
Where I think I'm going wrong is I've spent a couple of days not looking At my cj and I think the lack of direction is affecting my efficiency iyswim.
Better day tomorrow, promise.
Oh and ds2 woke up wet and decided on a nappy tonight. Sure he'll get there soon, he is only just 4.
Sorry for lack of personals I'm just not in a good place at the moment.

ellesabe Wed 10-Apr-13 08:12:27

Silvery that sounds horrible sad
An ex-bf of mine when through a similar thing when Harold Shipman was charged.

elliepac Wed 10-Apr-13 08:19:34

Morning one and all. So last night I did indeed collapse in fact I fell asleep in front of the tv before 10.grin

Today I have a list which is both flying and work related. DC's are at the childminders this morning for a few hours so need to crack on.

To do:-
Morning routines
Washing x lots
Drying x lots
Putting away x lots
Write a scheme of work for Controlled Assessment
Write 3 lessons for Controlled Assessment
Dinner
First C25k run
Evening routine
Mission

If I don't appear back later on it is because I have died doing the runwink.

silvery that is awful. There was one situation at work where it came to light that a girl who had been in my form for 5 years (she was Year 11) had been abused by her father in the worst possible, systematic way. I remember beating myself up about it and wondering why I had never noticed anything. It's so sadsad.

Have a good day everyone.

feetheart Wed 10-Apr-13 08:55:44

Morning all.

Good luck with C25k Ellie - first few weeks are hard, especially the jump form Wk3 to Wk4 but it works. I HATED running at school and never attempted anything until 4 yrs ago. Needed an outlet (3yr old with broken leg to look after at the time), chose running as it was quick and cheap, did C25k, ran Race for Life that year, got addicted, ran half-marathon last year and have place for Great North Run this year smile
Just take one day/week at a time and, if after Wk4 you are 'enjoying' it (not necessarily the running but the endorphin-high afterwards smile), get measured for some proper running shoes.
Engels - you sound like you are getting back into it. How long until your 10k?

Blue - I'm with Goth, DO NOT show your DH the cables, chuck them ASAP, he will have more, they always do smile

Odd day today so need list:
- Work - done
- DS ready for tennis (DH to take)
- Hoover throughout
- Usual routines
- Fabric out of loft for DD and friends sewing-fest this afternoon
- Make bolognese, chicken soup, ice-cream and possibly some cake. Feeling the need to cook and will be abandoned once sewing girls arrive smile

That will do for now.
Have a good day everyone.

Louise85 Wed 10-Apr-13 09:03:31

Goth Happy Birthday flowers...hav a great day - agreed that some things should not be done on this special day - bin cleaning included!!

had a late night sorting budget (anti-procrastination - finally got it done since I first thought of it in November shock)Am shattered, Ds didn't settle after 4am, and dd is so full of energy its draining just watching her...

not much flying will be done today...need wine and its only 9am....and I don't drink confused sad

SilveryMoon Wed 10-Apr-13 09:34:15

I missed Goths birthday? Sorry! blush flowers
Must be a wriggle on
to do
make beds
clear breakfast
Shower and dress
swish and swipe
rubbish out
check links
go to friends
laundry
mission/detail
cook dinner
clean kitchen
ironing
hotspots
sort dry washing
non iron away
STUDY
stray items away
shine sink
clothes out

That'll do. Hopefully will have a more productive day than yesterday

Thanks for the tip re taking photos of cards - a good idea, Goth. Actually, DH has agreed to chuck several dead routers, splitters etc and agrees that we don't need all the wires. He says he'll look through them tonight. If it gets too put off, I can always chuck the lot when the skip comes on Friday. grin Also got to work out what to do with his chess trophies from school!

elliepac Wed 10-Apr-13 12:05:23

Happy Birthday gothsmile.

Ta da:-
Morning routine
Dc's to CM's
Dinner in slow cooker
Washing x lots
Washing on line
Putting away
First run on C25k and I am not deadwinkgrin.

Plans have changed a little. Was going to do schoolwork this afternoon but it is a lovely day here so I am going to meet up with a friend at local farm park. Schoolwork will still be there tomorrowwink.

CHBitchy Wed 10-Apr-13 14:16:13

Chess trophies should stay!!!. Put them in a box in the bottom of his wardrobe. wink

Happy birthday Goth

Thing with abused kids is that sometimes it takes them a long time to realise it isn't normal. And why would they act different to normal kids if they don't think what is going on isn't anything but normal?

I have lost some important paperwork. it is a bit of a problem. need to find it but think i might be too late for rsvp-ing. sad

NickNacks Wed 10-Apr-13 15:51:31

Hey I am still about but as you can imagine school hols for a childminder is rather busy! smile

Hope to be flying again properly on Saturday and I have a big project for you all to help me with. smile

Castlelough Wed 10-Apr-13 17:00:28

Just in from work. Have crawled into bed most cosy place to sit in this shithole with a cup of tea and chocolate. Trying not to think about the fact that the fridge freezer may have stopped working. There was no light on in the fridge when I opened the door....and no noise.
Since we moved into this place 18 months ago the fridge has been replaced, the washing machine replaced, and the kettle (four times), the heat pump (twice) .... but the landlady buys everything secondhand, so they never last long. And there is usually a long wait too. sad
It looks like it will be October before we are in a position to get the mortgage we need to finish our own house.
Sometimes I just am not motivated to fly, living here sad.
<takes uninspiring self off to mope in the naughty corner before its time to make dinner and go to training>

Castlelough Wed 10-Apr-13 17:08:44

Belated birthday wishes Goth! [cake]

<perks up at the promise of NickNacks coming back with a fun mission>

Gosh I have been useless at flying this month. Apologies for moaning.
<vows to make Thursday the new Monday blush>

ellesabe Wed 10-Apr-13 19:05:04

I'm off to join the naughty corner crew today too. Having been away at the start of the week, I was supposed to do my weekly home bleugh today so my list is rather extensive. However a friend popped round during dd's nap unexpectedly and there's no way I'm doing it after bedtime!

To do
Shower, dress, S&S - done
Breakfast - done
Make packed lunch - done
Pack jacket up to return - done
Toddler group - done
Post office - done
Dd2's passport application - FAIL
Dust
Hoover
Clean loo
Clean hob
Wipe down fridge shelves
Ironing
Update dd2's baby book - done
Take paperwork to mortgage advisor - done
Cook and eat dinner - done
Bath dc and put to bed - in progress
Wash up
Shine sink

Dd's passport application is turning into a complete farce. We filled out an application at the weekend and asked a dr friend to countersign it for us. I check it this morning before sealing the envelope to discover that she used lower-case letters and didn't keep her signature inside the box angry
So I got another form today, filled it out and asked our mortgage advisor to countersign it. She gets halfway through and then remembers that she herself doesn't have a passport that's currently valid.
So now I have to go and get another form tomorrow and fill it out again. For the third time. How hard is it????

Rant over. Grrrr.

SilveryMoon Wed 10-Apr-13 20:37:33

Evening all
Good FLYing day here, well I did 15 mins detail and then another 15 mins.
I think I'm going to continue to ignore the missions until I get the place clean to how I want it iyswim.
So I set a timer and toothbrush/bleached the window frame, the tiles and grouting under the cupboards and wiped the top of one wall, around the window and around the cupboards on one side.
Yuk! You can really see the difference on the wall from where I started. Makes me want to finish the whole room, but I don't want to spend all evening doing it, so will be tomorrows job.
I have one entire wall covered with the boys art work from school/nursery, but i didn't laminate it or anything so it's all manky/greasy so think they'll have to come down and I'll keep bare walls. I'll put the stuff that's up in my keeping box and if I put anything else up, it'll have to go in a wallett or something first.

TaDa
Up and made beds
Got breakfast and cleared away
Showered and dressed
Swished and swiped
Rubbish out
Laundry on
Popped to town to get ds2 a new school bag
Went to friends house. Ended up staying there for over 5 hours!
Cooked dinner
Cleaned kitchen
Hotspot
Sorted dry washing
Non iron away
Printed stuff for ds1
Stray items away
Detail x2

Now I'm sat down. Off to catch up.

superfluouscurves Wed 10-Apr-13 20:38:24

Bored. On dh's phone/Blackberry thing. Still travelling. Just landed on last leg of journey, returning Sat eve. Can't keep away!!

[Have just been ogling dh's e-mails and six foreign clients have sent us their condolences on the death of Margaret Thatcher. We are somewhat bemused!]

Managed to miss Ellie's and Goth's birthdays! Many happy returns to both of you!

Here's a pick-you-up bunch of thanks for Castle I know how demoralising it can get when you are not happy with your living arrangements so whinge away! smile

SilveryMoon Wed 10-Apr-13 21:08:24

elliepac hope you had a nice day at the park
Have I said happy birthday to Goth <memory is shot> Hope you’ve had a good day
Bitchy Hope you found the paperwork. I hate that. Re the stuff I posted yesterday (sorry to put that on everyone, I know it’s not something anyone likes to hear/talk about), I know you’re right, just feel so awful for these boys.
<waves> to NickNacks intrigued about this mystery project……….
Castle sad it does sound pretty shit, but know you can make the best of where you are at the moment.
elles hope you get the passport sorted. What a palavar!

elliepac Wed 10-Apr-13 21:08:25

Evening all.

Not a bad day all in all. Managed everything on my list plus swimming lessons which I nearly forgot about!

I'm lying, I didn't do my schoolwork but I did have a lovely afternoon in beautiful spring sunshine at the local farm park. Far more important than writing schemes of workwinkgrin. Tomorrow is another day and all that.

Going to go and watch some tv.

NickNacks Wed 10-Apr-13 21:30:17

I feel bad that I've lead you to believe this might be an exciting project and fear you will all be disappointed and beat me with a stick shock

GoingGoingGoth Wed 10-Apr-13 21:39:45

Eeek so many posts, and I've got wine

Lovely day thanks, quiet at work, but I did have someone come to bowl, 1st one this year! So after a good bit of sweeping round the club house, I got some reading and knitting done. I still can't believe I get paid for this, it makes a lovely change after 16 years of stressful office work. Not much done this evening, apart from usual chores, will send DD into the bin tomorrow! grin

GoingGoingGoth Wed 10-Apr-13 22:21:25

ROUND UP

Silvery had a lot of her Dad's birthday cake, a visit from a friend, and then found some out some distressing news <big hug>
Re DS, he will get there, DD was still getting wet in the day up to last summer, mind you that's because she always 'to busy' to go.
Looking at that list, it sounds like you've got your motivation back.

elliepac did collapse in front of the tv last night, and seems to be planning to do again looking at today's list. And is another one undertaking long runs, I hope we're not all expected to take it up! <hyperventilated at the thought>

feet has a DD sewing bee organised, followed by cooking.

Louise is getting on top of her budget, I have a box I stick all my receipts in, and then input them about once a week (could be a Wednesday job)

Blue has a DH that can throw away electrical 'stuff', treasure him, I have to sneak stuff out. Chess trophies, I think I'd keep those, but I'd probably box them up.

Bitchy has lost some important paperwork! I hate when that happens, do you get that tense 'hot' feeling?

NickNacks is understandably busy, and has a project for us all!

Castle is having fridge freezer and landlady problems, it's difficult to be motivated when you don't like where you are. October will come quicker than you expect.

ellesabe visited the naughty corner as was distracted from the weekly bleugh by a friend. And is having a passport nightmare, I don't think I know of anyone who has it easy. One friend took 5 goes to get her stepdaughter's completed.

SC is bored as she's still travelling, obviously she comes to us, as we are so scintillating. grin

GoingGoingGoth Wed 10-Apr-13 22:43:13

Forgot to add my cat's present today was arriving back home after going AWOL overnight. There I was at quarter to 12 last night creeping around our shared gardens with a torch doing a shouty whisper.

I couldn't sleep last night as I'm used to him being curled up on the bed (usually squashing me)

DH found him just before lunch today, he'd got stuck a few doors down. Now he's huffy with us! Little bugger chose to stay out on his own.

Ellietryingtofly Thu 11-Apr-13 08:19:50

Remember I was choosing jobs to do on set days f the month to kind of replace the crap babysteps? Well, I've now decided that's a bit unrealistic as they are mostly big jobs (cleaning oven etc) that I don't get done within the detailed clean yet. I think I need rto re0introduce the room rescue and work it that way or I fear that doing a job like cleaning bin/oven/chip pan will be too much to do and still do detail for current zone.
I think I may be over thinking this...........hmm

ToffeeWhirl Thu 11-Apr-13 09:27:50

Hello, lovely fledglings. Took my boys to visit my DM for a few days, but am back home now and feeling reinvigorated and ready to Fly again. Am planning to update my control journal and then try to stick to a daily routine again.

Had a burst of enthusiasm after returning home and finally tackled the kitchen hotspot, then tidied and cleaned the whole kitchen and mopped the floor. So nice to come down to a clean and tidy kitchen this morning!

Things have been difficult with DS1 (his OCD has got very bad and we're waiting for treatment), which knocked me back a bit, but (I think) I have my fighting spirit back now. To cheer us all up, we are getting a kitten smile. DS1 has wanted a pet for ages and we looked after a neighbour's dog for a bit, but that convinced DH that he didn't want a dog in the house. MIL has a phobia of rodents, so gerbils and hamsters were not an option. And I'm allergic to cats. But then I did some research and we are now getting a Balinese, which is less allergenic than other cats, supposedly <gets antihistimines out on standby>.

Thanks for the roundup, Goth. There's too much thread to catch up with, so it's great to be able to read what everyone is doing.

Ta da so far:

B/fasts
Washing on
Dishwasher on
brew

Bye for now smile.

feetheart Thu 11-Apr-13 12:04:05

Hello Toffee, nice to have you back. Not surprised that DS's OCD sapped your Flying energy, it must be so hard on you all. Hope treatment comes swiftly and effectively.
Kitten sounds lovely (really hope the antihistamines aren't necessary) DS1 does know that the kittens/cats own you not the other way round doesn't he? He will be but a minion smile

Castle - hope you feel a bit more positive today. I'm with SC in understanding how living arrangements can effect how you feel. I have got it better than both of you I think (I live in DH's childhood home) but it can feel like I'm battling so much more than general everyday family mess.
I am hoping that having the extension will make it feel more like my home too hmm

Goth - thanks for round-ups and links, even if I am ignoring the latter blush

List for today:
- Try to get friend round for DS to play with but they are all away - done but failed
- Deal with distraught DS who accidentally broke his breakfast bowl (had made it in a pottery place with Granny in NI so very special) - done
- Panic a bit as plug plants arrived in post - wasn't expecting them for a few weeks and it's far too cold for them to go outside. Think DS's windowsill will be pressed into service as it's the coldest place in the house - done
- All up and dressed - work in progress fueled by bribe of biscuits smile
- Morning routine - mostly done
- Quick tidy of kitchen and living room
- Soft play place with friends
- Bring home DD's friend for sleepover
- Diving
- Bolognese for dinner

That's more than enough.
Better feed DC before softplay or they will be having cake for lunch blush

ellesabe Thu 11-Apr-13 12:41:38

feet despair not...I hear rumours of 20deg sunshine at the beginning of next week hmm

elliepac Thu 11-Apr-13 13:27:38

Afternoon all. Gradually hopping back on the fly wagon.

Ta da:-
Morning routine

Have a good day everyone.

Castlelough Thu 11-Apr-13 16:44:51

Thanks everyone for the bolstering comments. smile
I actually came out of the naughty corner and shined the bathroom sink and scrubbed the shower last night! Wonders will never cease!
Lovely to see you back toffee and feetheart and so much of elliepac too this month.
DH is taking a very rare night off tonight (as it is my birthday on Sat, and tonight is the only night he can find somebody to work for him...) and we are staying in!

Can't wait! Dinner at home and a few glasses of wine beer for DH and some quality time together! smile

Goth thanks for roundups and links. Mist go off and practise before I take up the mantle next month blushblush

ToffeeWhirl Thu 11-Apr-13 17:54:36

Feet - thanks for the advice about the kitten. I will bear that in mind! grin. So sorry about your DS's broken bowl. Poor thing.

ellesabe - nice to meet you! I have been Flying for two or three years now and can honestly say my house is much, much better than it was, though far from perfect. If I followed the Flylady rules, instead of regularly falling off the wagon, I'm sure it would be better.

elliepac - good to see you! Hope you have had a nice time with your friend this afternoon (and that the house isn't too wrecked).

Castle - thanks for the welcome smile. Hope you and DH enjoy your evening together.

Have had a lovely afternoon with a new friend. Her son gets on really well with DS1, so we are doubly lucky. And DS2 has been playing with Lego in his room for hours, without needing any adult input at all.

Have just opened the evening wine. Will leave a bottle in the naughty corner for anyone who pops in...

Ta da!
Cleaned downstairs loo
Bag out for charity collection
Dumped broken toys
More boxes and bags to charity shops
Blogging/work admin etc

Just about home in time to let friends in

Waves to Toffee and feet - have just checked weather forecast and nearly fainted in disbelief! Will be glad of the chance to wear the new smaller sized summer stuff I've been buying from charity shops though! smile

Hope you have a good evening in castle.

Ellie - hope you also survived visiting DC!

elliepac Thu 11-Apr-13 19:11:42

Aaaaagh, the house is now a complete and utter shit tipgrin. Have ended up babysitting friends dc's whilst she went to work but on the plus side she is picking them up at 8.30 and then taking my two back to hers for a sleepover. Resultgrin.

elliepac Thu 11-Apr-13 19:17:52

And thanks castle. Nice to be back amongst you fabulous fledglings. No-one else gives a shit whether i've shined my sinkwinkgrin.

I even managed a 3 hour nap this afternoon!
Kitchen is looking much better already, I took all the drawings the boys have done down, now looks bigger and clearer.Wiped it all down, and have found a tin of paint in the cupboard, it's 5 years old, but still looks ok, so I might even give it a re-fresh.

Still wanting to give the place a face-lift, and started a thread asking for ideas etc if anyone has anything to suggest........

Tomorrow I have to take the car to get the wheels balanced. Also spending the night at a friend's house. We are having a bit of a revival night, got some wine and going to watch Wayne's World and So I Married An Axe Murderer. Hilarious films. Can't wait!

CHBitchy Thu 11-Apr-13 21:28:54

today I completely and utterly over did things. My entire body hates me but I am experience a level of inner calm that is unknown. Probably because I am so physically and emotionally exhausted I cba with anything. hmmgrin

CHBitchy Thu 11-Apr-13 21:29:31

Oops sorry not sure how I managed to post that twice. bed is calling me...

GoingGoingGoth Thu 11-Apr-13 21:45:15

Evening all, earlier start today, mainly because DD threw a massive strop and got sent to bed promptly, rather than the recently ever increasing bedtimes.

*EllieTTF' had a friend of her DD's visiting today, so was on a deadline to get her list done.

ellesabe bragged of having an early night and having energy! That's where am going round! Achieved a very good list, and was planning tummy exercises, I hate sit ups, which is probably why my muffin top is (to quote Sarah Miiligan) a cake shelf!

Silvery had a Bitchy-list and still managed a 3 hour nap!

Toffee is back and is ready to Fly. Hope DS1's treatment is sorted soon. And she is getting a cat! Just googled some images, the Balinese look beautiful and sound very child friendly. Would be nice to have an intelligent cat. Welcome to a world of servitude grin I wouldn't be without my little cat.

feet's DS is not having a good day; broken favorite breakfast bowl, all his friends unavailable to play and his windowsill being requisitioned for plug plants (that last one, hopefully not such a big deal)

elliepac is getting back into flying, but ended up babysitting her BF's dcs, undoing all progress, on the plus side she's 'loosing' hers for a sleepover.

Castle is having an early birthday night in with her DH.

Blue hasn't stopped at all today, another marvellous list and good declutter.

Engels has had a manic day at work and a MIL in hospital (hope she gets better soon), so not achieved much flying. But being on top of washing & washing up is always a good thing.

GoingGoingGoth Thu 11-Apr-13 21:46:41

Just seen Bitchy's post. Take it easy or you'll end up back in A&E AGAIN!

GoingGoingGoth Thu 11-Apr-13 21:54:48

Morning all.

elliepac Your to do list is how my to do list looks permanently (there never seems to be an end to schoolwork!).

Enjoy your evening silvery sounds ace! I went to the cinema with a friend on Wed for the first time since before DS was born. I felt young and carefree grin

bitchy hope you are having a chill out day - you sound like you need it.

feet I had forgotten that you lived in your DH's childhood home. We live next door to my DH's childhood home (where ILs live) and our house was his GPs home (FIL's childhood home) so I totally understand what you mean about all the clutter (both physical and emotional) you have to fight against. I have lived here 6 years and it has taken that long for me to manage to take out the 2 dead roses that have been in our front garden. DH took so long to "allow' me to remove them for sentimental reasons (his DGF, who is no longer with us and he was very close to, planted them).

Ta da
Supermarket shop
Skyped DM
Rang DGM who is v.ill sad
Washing on
Changed DS bed

To do
Mission (my kitchen floor is disgusting!) and daily focus (maybe I will finally get around to hoovering my car)
Hoover
Change our bed
hang washing up to dry
Yesterday's wash away

File paperwork generated from clearing hotspot!
What's for dinner (fish pie)
Do 5k run this evening as couldn't last night (DH was at hospital visiting DMIL so I couldn't go out).
Go to hospital after dinner to see DMIL
While DS is asleep either schoolwork or gardening
Water plants
Finish putting away rest of shopping
Clean coffee table
Email Dsis
Empty bins
Post letter (has been in my handbag for a week)
Print some photos of DS for DGM, DMIL and DM (and us!)
Another load of washing

Engelsemama Fri 12-Apr-13 11:24:40

Oops! Phantom post has been resurrected! (but at least it saves me having to wrack my brains as to what was on my list!)

Ellietryingtofly Fri 12-Apr-13 11:43:20

Ta da:
Pick up DD from DM
Reload dishwasher
Clear rubbish
Help DD with some homework

To do:
Get out of bath!

That's more than enough for the last day of the holiday! I've procrastinated so much I haven't done any school work so will have to do my planning either tonight or over the weekend. Oops! Hope everyone has a good day! xXx

CHBitchy Fri 12-Apr-13 13:08:10

there was sleep and now there is stuff to do. going to start with a small ta da list and some coffee...

ta da
internet stuff (email/fb/twitter etc etc)

very gently stretch a few achy muscles.

I had forgotten how good proper training like that makes me feel!!!!! Will be back later. Good luck to all with school work to do!

Whoop! The skip people have come and taken away all the dead bathroom stuff, a cutdown tree and all the bag of cables but one kettle lead!

SilveryMoon Fri 12-Apr-13 14:14:52

TaDa
Up and made beds _all but ds2's who wet the bed. Bed stripped
Swished and swiped
Showered and dressed
Got breakfast and cleared away
Laundry x2
Rubbish out
Took car to have wheels balanced
Wrapped presents for a birthday party tomorrow
Brought some paint and the JML painter thingy here

To Do
Washing up
Detail - finish wiping the kitchen walls.
Pack an overnight bag for tonight.
Dress ds2's bed
Drive to friend's - via the booze section at Tesco (I will obs not drive in there, just to there first wink)
Once at friend's, put pj's on, pizza in oven, pour the wine, watch So I Married An Axe Muderer (she couldn't find Wayne's World angry sad)
Eat loads and chat shit.
Pass out.

Dp has decided he wants to paint the kitchen first. I have decided on colours for the living room.
Going to keep magnolia (but fresh coat) but have one wall of this colour. Then add some similarly coloured cushions to the sofa.
I'm also going to re-cover the dining chair seats with green fabric but maybe different patterns (plain, striped, different shades), get a nice table cloth (maybe a subtle garden/flower type) and add a green lightshade.
What do you think?

SilveryMoon Fri 12-Apr-13 16:07:28

FFS, I just got a bit of bleach on my top. It's a fairly new one and I like it (although a pita to iron - silvery lining there). It now has a small white spec toward the shoulder. The top is grey. <looks at ds's felt-tip tin......>

But, I have just done todays detailed cleaning. That's 5 sessions this week, so 1hour 15 mins of cleaning walls, tiles and grouting in the kitchen. I think I'd have got more done if I'd done an hour and 15 flat out though.
Well, I've wiped down all the walls, apart from the top of the cupboards and bleached most of the grouting, just the one wall to come back to next month.

bugger, just typed a huge post then lost it!

I'm just bumbling along now, trying to keep up with the babysteps and declutter every day. I've got a huge pile of stuff to eBay and have already made £90. I'm putting the money into dd's account and my motivation is to save money for her while on maternity leave.

elliepac Fri 12-Apr-13 17:56:54

Ta da part 2:-
Schoolwork
Schoolwork
Schoolwork
Dinner

DH asleep and Dd gone to bed very tired after sleepover last night so DS and I are going to have some snuggle time on the sofa and watch a film.

Have a lovely evening everyonesmile.

GoingGoingGoth Fri 12-Apr-13 18:20:27

Who-hoo it's the weekend!

Dd got a friend round, so 'to do' is feeding them both.

BBL with round up & links

Mumof3men Fri 12-Apr-13 19:02:21

I'd like to join you if I may. Had a huge declutter when we thought we were going to move in the Autumn, it fell through but the house was finally tidy after coping with 3 young men for many years. They have all flown the nest (well, ds1 comes back a couple of nights a week-he is non diagnosed Aspergers so refers to the big spare room as his and leaves belongings there).
Mostly it is just DH king of the keep these cables they will come in handy one day and myself. There generally isn't a lot of mess these days (those of you with teens-there will come a day when you go to bed and the kitchen remains in the same state when you get up!)
I have been flyladying for a few months as I loathe housework, shining my sink has really worked for me. Being able to go to bed with a clear sink has made me make sure the sides are clear too, apart from dh's blinking work fleece which seems to only live on a kitchen chair
I'll join you to commit to a little housework daily as I'm back to school next week :-)

Ellietryingtofly Fri 12-Apr-13 19:54:29

Ta da:
Pick up DD from DM
Reload dishwasher
Clear rubbish
Help DD with some homework
Get out of bath!
Get dressed etc and meet friends for lunch
Kitchen floor (I usually use those wipes on it but will do a proper clean because it needs it!)
Go to lakeland (oh dear, never a good idea to let me lose in there)
Washing
run (only my second day running, horrifically unfit so decided to challenge myself and have signed up with DD to do a charity run for GOSH and am currently trying to build up my ability to run around the block!! eek!)

To do:

Clear car
Clean handbag
Put away washing (which is currently dumped on DDs bed, oops)
Wash/change my bedding
Shine sink
SS bathroom (I do it later in the day, usually evening)
Wipe round bath
Clean inside windows
help DD with one more homework sheet
Sleep

so havent done a lot of things on my to do list (will tick a couple more things off later) grin xXx

GoingGoingGoth Fri 12-Apr-13 22:17:58

1st of all welcome to Mumof3men, we all fly to aome extent, so just take it steady, do what you feel up to, and feel free to slouch in the naughty corner if when it gets to much.

elliepac got back on top of the chaos on Thursday night grin, but has left her schoolwork to the last minute if the holidays, some habits are hard to break, DD started her today too! She's finishing of the day with DS with a snuggle and a film, lovely.

Engels has posted a number of long lists (and my head is about to explode) so I'm summing up that's she's been very busy. Hope you MIL is getting better.

EllieTTF went to Lakeland (going to be controversial here, but that's even better than IKEA, I hardly ever get to go sad) She's also signed up to run for GOSH, let me know if you re after sponsors, brilliant cause.

Bitchy had a short list (so what aren't you telling us about?!) and has started gentle training. Hopefully it will give you a boost IF YOU DON'T OVERDO IT!!!

Blue has a skip load of stuff removed including all the cables but one kettle lead!

Silvery has got the JML painty thingy, does it work? I have to admit their mop is astounding, it dries beautifully.
I think magnolia and green sounds nice in a kitchen, and a mix of patterns will look good.

mrs lost her post (a theme this week) well done with the eBaying. DH has just gleefully announced it's free listing this weekend.

Dd had a neighbour round to play when I got home tonight, the friend's little brother was poorly so we kept her up to bedtime, while her parents took him to be checked out at the hospital. Luckily it's just a virus, but he's normally so lively, I can understand while her parents were worried.

Tomorrow am planning to embrace Family Fun Day with DD so going to the cinema (so I can lightly doze) May then nip into the city.

GoingGoingGoth Fri 12-Apr-13 22:22:46

LINKS FOR SATURDAY 13TH APRIL

Babystep 13 is to start doing the missions, but...

No Mission today as the Daily Focus is Family Fun Day

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

CHBitchy Sat 13-Apr-13 01:55:33

Laughs at yesterday's training being described as gentle. It was brutel. Todays was gentle.
As for what you are not being told? Well see that is the beauty of the internet. harder for you to tell if I be hiding anything. <sticks tongue out.>

Sleepy time. <watches world spin just a bit too much>

ooh free listings? that's what I like to hear.

PS the observant among you will notice that I am posting at 6am on a Saturday. this is because dd has decided to feed every two hours last night. just as I thought things were getting better sad

I may be doing more sleeping than flying today

Engelsemama Sat 13-Apr-13 08:45:00

Welcome mumof3men <waves>

Have woken up feelng rotten. MAnaged to get a lot done yesterday - not all my list but the house is startign the weekend in a reasonable state. DH is heading out to do some garden work (the gate stage 2!) so I will be looking after DS.

I think I may stagger through the missions that I didn't do on my working days this week (and maybe read my new gardening books when DH is not looking wink ).

We went to see MIL last night in hospital. She looks much better but is on oxygen and blood thinners. Turned out she has a pulmonary embolism so good that they caught it in time and they didn't go on holiday yesterday (20 hours coach trip) as they had planned. DH is fuming with FIL though as up until she was admitted on Thurs MIL was still doing all cleaning/cooking and they got the BUS to the hospital (FIL didn't tell MIL DH had offered the drive them, or FIL could have just driven and paid for parking).

To do
Fold yesterday's 2nd wash and put away
Washing on
Post letter
Missions from last week (wipe down kitchen appliances, kitchen taps, countertops)
Tidy handbag (didn't get that far yesterday)
5 mins hotspot
Sow sweet peas
Washing-up
Take DS outside either in garden or to play park for an hour
Email Dsis
Pop out later to Makro with DH

Mumof3men Sat 13-Apr-13 11:58:26

Good morning :-)
I have sprayed bathroom with cleaner (all tiled bathroom) and left alone to soak, cleaned loo (blech), pulled out the outside wall sofa and scrubbed whole wall behind (think it is damp but a good clean keeps on top of it), sorted out council tax and filed paperwork, oven prided top and bottom oven and am now taking a tv break.
To do
ironing (school holidays mean I have two weeks worth of ironing to do-no dcs washing though so shouldn't take more than half an hour)
Put away ironing

finish oven in two hours time

wipe down bathroom (will watch one episode of programme on sky planner then do that and combine with a loo break :-) )

Cook tea, easy tonight, minted lamb chops with chips for dh and salad for me

Have a tidy day people x

Mumof3men Sat 13-Apr-13 12:56:29

Bathroom wiped and threw in a quick bedroom, kitchen diner and lounge dust to boot!

SilveryMoon Sat 13-Apr-13 13:11:22

<waves> to mumof3men Welcome to the thread grin
Had a lovely evening at my friends house with pizza, wine and an old favourite film.
Just got back home and the boys (who apparently have been fine) are now in my face and whineing non-stop, have just started now fighting and yelling at each other. Think I should have stayed out longer......
The good news is that ds2 has a birthday party to go to in a while and they are both staying over at their friends house tonight.
Will probably do my bleugh today and the food shopping.
Hope everyone is having a nice day.

Ellietryingtofly Sat 13-Apr-13 13:14:08

DBiL popped round whilst I was in the kitchen making Krispie cakes with DD. I tried to stay hidden as I am still in pjs with no bra on. Oh well! Haha.

Ta da:
Make Krispie cakes with DD
Bath
Washing on
Unload dishwasher
Load dishwasher
Put drain unblocker stuff down sink
Cleaned DDs inside windows

To do:
Assessments for work
Put away washing
Buy profiteroles
Do more washing
Give DD a bath
What's for dinner? (Leftover potatoes/veg with probably pork chop)
Lie on sofa eating profiteroles (my Saturday night treat!)
Go for run
5 min general tidy
Lunch (jacket potatoes in the oven)
Clean bathroom
Shine sink
General wipe down of kitchen counters
Help DD with homework

Need to try to actually complete my list! xXx

Mumof3men Sat 13-Apr-13 14:28:12

(wants profiteroles now)

Ta da!
Oven cleaned and tin foil put down at the bottom to help in future cleaning, now on to 'burn off' smell of cleaner and all windows in kitchen (well, there is only one) open.

Rewarding self with first episode of new American tv thriller series

elliepac Sat 13-Apr-13 14:55:24

Just flying through to report a minimal ta da!

Ta da:-
Washing
Putting away
Food shop
Dinner
Washing up
Quick tidy

That's it. And will remain it. CBA has set in and I am going to lounge around for the rest of the day.

CHBitchy Sat 13-Apr-13 15:09:28

Sounds like a plan Ellie

ta da
sleep
find model of DNA for ds
internet stuff
1 load washing in machine
1 load in dryer

feeling a little bug eyed today. going for another coffee and then sink in the bath that I have run.

NickNacks Sat 13-Apr-13 15:30:07

Ok so my little massive project I was telling you about...

We are switching bedrooms with our two boys. They share a small double and we have a very large double bedroom, which with good furniture arrangement can be made into two good sized spaces for them to have one each. We only sleep or lay on the bed to watch tv in our room so it seems to make sense to swap. Ds1 is off to middle school on September and I'm a childminder so they need space to escape to if needed.

So any tips or advice? We've started a good sort out today and will carry that on tomorrow. DH is moving the beds next Friday and is then away from Sarurday until Monday. He hates this kind of project so I have promised it will all be finished by the time he gets back on Monday night, despite having our 3 dc and working (CMing!) on Monday. Am I barking mad? Can you help?!

Mumof3men Sat 13-Apr-13 16:08:56

I can't help as those days are long gone for me, I suppose toy throwing is out of the question in case it comes in handy for childminding?
My hubby hates having to face the jobs too!

Ta da
Ironing done and, whilst the iron was heating up, I emptied the wii basket (full of games and accessories) into one of the three pine storage boxes we keep in the lounge, (they have cushions on for extra seating and hold loads) and now all the wii crap stuff is out of sight. This did necessitate moving dh's cds that have just come in from his car into his cupboard, it'll be weeks before he notices.

CHBitchy Sat 13-Apr-13 16:39:03

are you looking at physically dividing the space?

CHBitchy Sat 13-Apr-13 16:39:46

is it three dc to share the space of the bigger room?

CHBitchy Sat 13-Apr-13 16:40:35

<sorry half asleep, give me a few hours and I might wake up>

SilveryMoon Sat 13-Apr-13 16:57:42

NickNacks So you want to switch bedrooms with the boys to give them a bigger space that can be divided into individual space for each of them?
Does indeed sound like a big job.
How are you thinking of dividing the bigger room?
Do you have any tall bookcases/units you could use to separate the room? But then how old are the boys? Suppose you can't have units in the middle of the room if they are small.
Curtains? A rail attached to the ceiling and curtains used to offer privacy? Cheaper than buying proper room dividers.
Do you have loft space? Toy rotation sounds like it would be worth a thought if you need to clear space (should really do this myself. Maybe that's the detail job for zone 3 next week..........)

NickNacks Sat 13-Apr-13 17:31:40

Dd has her own room so we are just swapping with the 2 boys. The room is long with the door in the middle of the long side, a window and radiator is at Each end on the small sides. Yes was thinking of dividing it with a ikea expedit unit. They are 9 and nearly 7 so past the climbing stage and pretty sensible.

CHBitchy Sat 13-Apr-13 17:48:53

sounds good to me. if you are considering painting you could do each half in a different colour...

CHBitchy Sat 13-Apr-13 17:51:45

ta da
sleep
find model of DNA for ds
internet stuff
2nd load washing in machine
2nd load in dryer
build bookcase
rearrange ds' books
physio stuff
soak in bath in peace
sort out plans for tomo
sort out plans for tonight
handwashing
training part 1

NickNacks Sat 13-Apr-13 17:56:20

We are throwing a lot out as well as donating and recycling. I've plenty of resources for CMing so don't need to keep their stuff as well. It's more about giving them some personal space plus they don't even have space for a desk. We also have lots of stuff so decluttering is feeling great!

We're hopefully, aside from the beds and a few toy boxes, not going to need to move much other furniture. It's all the crap that needs new homes and physically transporting it to the opposite room. In strangely excited but DH couldn't think of anything worse!

NickNacks Sat 13-Apr-13 17:58:44

I will paint but maybe another time. I don't think I have enough time next weekend but ill def let them choose their own deviation. At the moment it's blue so nothing offensive or flowery for them to moan about.

CHBitchy Sat 13-Apr-13 18:11:10

Sounds like you are top of things NickNacks

SilveryMoon Sat 13-Apr-13 18:41:53

I have done absolutely fuck all today. Nothing. I've not put anything away, nothing.
Ds1 is staying at a friends tonight so only have ds2.
About to put him in pj's, read stories and put him to bed so I can pass out watch tv on the sofa.
It feels really odd to have not done anything and I am trying not to panic about it. I have no intention of doing anything now, but have an itch that is telling me I can't leave the place like this.

Tomorrow's list:
Up and strip beds
Get breakfast
Shower and dress
Swish and swipe
Clear breakfast
Rubbish out
Collect ds1 from friends
Clean litter trays
Laundry
Meet friend's for pub lunch (Carvery in Windsor)
Homework
Clean glass shelves/frames/mirrors etc
polish and dust
hoover
mop
re-dress beds
wipe fridge
polish shoes
make next weeks sandwiches

sort dry washing
non iron away

Is that it? Bloody hope so!

NickNacks Sat 13-Apr-13 18:47:57

Silvery where do you live? Pm me if you like.

SilveryMoon Sat 13-Apr-13 18:50:28

Why, are you trying to recruit me to come round and move furniture? wink grin

Mumof3men Sat 13-Apr-13 19:00:00

Think I achieved all the jobs, dinner cooked and eaten, dh dispatched to shop as he failed to bring home wine.
Going to let him catch up with fb then settle down to Vampire Diaries. I rather lust after like the gorgeous Damon plotlines ;-)

NickNacks Sat 13-Apr-13 19:26:12

Ha ha! Yes now I'll know where to find an extra pair of hands. ;)

SilveryMoon Sat 13-Apr-13 19:30:22

Well, I might be able to help a bit, I work during the week but am free most weekends

NickNacks Sat 13-Apr-13 19:45:43

Thank you, I would take you up on it if I weren't so ashamed of my shit tip house ha ha

SilveryMoon Sat 13-Apr-13 19:46:06

Let's see if this works.
How I'm thinking of decorating my living room here

SilveryMoon Sat 13-Apr-13 19:46:55

No, that didn't work. Just brings you to the main screen. Nevermind. Maybe I'll put a photo on profile when I've done it.

GoingGoingGoth Sat 13-Apr-13 22:17:00

mrs had an early start/late night/deficit of sleep due to DD deciding to feed every 2 hours thanks hope you took it easy today

Engels is hopefully also taking it easy after a bad start. Her MIL is improving, but sounds like she had a close call.

Mum3m has given her bathroom a good clean, but had a mahoosive pile of ironing (ouch)
chips for dh and salad for me

Silvery had a lovely evening out but returned to whining children (I'm sure they save it up for you to get home) She claims to have done FA today, good for you, you've had some very impressive lists this week, and continues again tomorrow!

EllieTTF was underdressed when her DBIL visited (we've all done something similar, I had to quickly grab a dressing gown the 1st time the landlord's handyman popped round, I honestly thought it was DH at the door! blush)
Also wants profiteroles

elliepac has done some Flying but decided to lounge for the rest of the day. Good idea

Bitchy found a model of DNA

NickNacks is switching bedrooms, and requires advice. My first idea was also to use bookcases as dividers.

I took Dd to see Wreck it Ralph today, not too bad, and then we went on a magical mystery tour on the local bus service. Done about an hour of cleaning, finishing this week's missions & starting the weekly bleugh, and finished off with an hour of ironing while watching David Attenborough on BBC4.

Evening all!

My ta da! today has mainly been keeping the boys out of the way or holding things while DH has been manfully putting up shelves, cupboards, towel rails etc in the bathroom. Looking really good now, but a lot to do to make the spare room habitable again by next week.

NickNacks I seem to recall madwoman using Ikea units as room dividers.

GoingGoingGoth Sat 13-Apr-13 22:23:22

Hellooo!! Helloo!! Hope everyone OK

Crikey, thought I'd popped in regularly enough to keep up with thread but loads of chat on here during last few days.

No time to catch up with thread properly but huge wing flaps to all. Will have a look at Goth's fab round-ups tonight/tomorrow

bitchy hope you are OK

Just got back and there's lots of "get ready for school now" bickering going on plus shoe polishing, washing and general heaving of suitcases about ... . Dh in foul mood. Had joyful reunion with the furries though smile

Spent half the day in the garden because it is actually sunny here shock

House had undergone hasty blitz for guests before we left but has slipped a bit since as dh has been surviving on his own in between being with us and friend who looks after rabbits isn't the most proactive/tidiest. So lots to do!! Hoping I'll re-find my mo-jo tomorrow! More visitors in three weeks so hope so.

Have just popped in to Trazzles thread and it's on my mind ...makes everything else seem pretty irrelevant really

Getting ready for my exciting escape to the London Book Fair. 3 days away! grin

Meanwhile, have got the spare room habitable and although the bathroom still isn't quite finished it looks pretty good.

[Big waves to everyone and dances out scattering brew, wine and biscuit around the place.]

SilveryMoon Sun 14-Apr-13 17:52:49

Had a great flying day yesterday - tidied and cleaned whole house - took the whole morning, but felt so good once it was done (have DH's gran visiting for a week)...but sunday evening and already a bit messy but determined to keep it at least half ok, so going to crack on sorting quick before bed...

still to do
hang washing (just one load grin )
load in for tomorrow ( just one load grin )
ironing (only 5 work shirts for DH - unlike the rest of you ladies this is the only ironing I do blush )
clean kitchen after dinner
room rescue - lounge
menu plan & shopping list

I am so full of cold - may be turning into flu - and have DH's gran (while dh is at work all week) - do not feel like it at all - just want to climb into a hole with chocolate...

GoingGoingGoth Sun 14-Apr-13 22:11:44

Baker has beaten Mt Washmore and is was planning scaling the ironing moutain of doom. grin think of the Sound of Music (Climb every mountain)

EllieTTF is already counting down to half term- it's good to have a target.

Nick has roused the troops and in the middle of Operation Bedrooms.
And has potty trained at the same time. Well done thanks

Engels has her new gate and a tidy garden grin

Silvery is also doing well with nappies. Thanks for the reminder re brows (not that I should need reminding, developing mono-brow here)
She has completed another Monster List

Mumof3men is having a slow day, that's what Sundays should be about.

Bitchy is having a busy time, but started with a cooked breakfast (yummy)

elliepac completed Week 1 of C25k today.

SC is back! grin I wouldn't say the round ups are fab, but I am trying. grin
Also saw Trazzle's thread, it does put everything into perspective.

Blue is off to the London Book Fair. Lucky you! envy

Louise had a great flying day yesterday, tidied and cleaned whole house
despite being full of cold and looking after DH's gran. Rum & hot milk will do the trick, and if it doesn't, you won't care anyway grin

Bust day here, went to do the shopping, avoiding all the football fans going to the semi-final at Hampden. Then a trip to the park, while the game was on, and back home at final whistle (the joys of being 10 mim walk from a football ground) and finally a quick baking session whilst preparing Sunday dinner. Plus part of the weekly bleugh! Phew <wipes brow>

GoingGoingGoth Sun 14-Apr-13 22:12:09

Whoops busy day not bust!

GoingGoingGoth Sun 14-Apr-13 22:21:56

Nooooo it's back to work today! DD has one more day off so is she stayed with my mum last night.

Ta da:
Wake up

To do:
Go to work and not fall asleep

That's more than enough I think grin I finally took the plunge and went for a proper run and did w1r1 of the c25k last night, very achy now! Shows how miserably unfit I am! Be back later (hopefully with more impressive lists!) xXx

Engelsemama Mon 15-Apr-13 09:05:04

Have been following trazzles thread too. Thinking of her and her family.

Good luck on c25k ellie and ellie (and good luck going back to work today!).

Have woken up streaming with cold (actually, I woke up in the middle of the night coughing with a streaming nose) so not feeling up to much (was planning on a day in the garden).

Can anyone explain one of the mysteries of life to me? Why, when he has loads of lovely toys, is it that the only things DS is interested in playing in are the telephone, TV remote, waste paper bin, and a box of tissues? The boy is driving me crazy!

MIL might be coming home today so will be offering to help her a bit round the house with hovering etc.

Ta da
Yesterday’s washing airing

Written shopping list
DS bed changed
Pastry out of freezer for pie tonight

ToffeeWhirl Mon 15-Apr-13 10:05:16

Am having the carpets cleaned today, so it propelled me into action this morning. So far, I have:

Cleared floor in sitting room (amazing amount of food, odd socks, various home ed files and books and bits of Lego under the sofa. Also DS2's lost slippers blush)
Wiped down dusty surfaces and cobwebs exposed by moving sofa
Done all the washing up and put away
Emptied all the bins
Put the rubbish out
Wiped down kitchen surfaces and cooker top
Swished and swiped in bathroom
Cleared landing upstairs (delegated to DH)
Asked DS1 to clear his bedroom floor
Cleared floor properly afterwards
Made quick b/fasts
Made coffee for carpet man
Nipped over the road to get cash to pay him

Am shocked at how much stuff we still have hidden away in corners and underneath furniture. And I thought we'd done so well at decluttering.

Am now sorting out home ed stuff for tomorrow, typing up new daily routines and waiting for my Ocado order to arrive.

Blue - I used to go to the London Bookfair regularly in my bookselling days. Hope you have a good time.

Like everyone here, I am thinking of Trazzle today. It isn't fair.

I am about to pour ds into bed. He is suffering from his weekend and the return to school. Early start here tomo so key plan is to make sure everything is ready to go at quick up and out first thing. Planning day tomo, much needed.

bakerofcakes Mon 15-Apr-13 18:41:56

Hi everyone, it's a lovely sunny day here, just spent an hour decluttering the garden after work. Just cooking tea then off for a long soak in the bath. Will do today's mission while I am upstairs. Today's babystep is already part of my morning routine and I did most of the home bleugh over the weekend. Still got the ironing pile of doom though, will save that for a rainy day grin.

Castlelough Mon 15-Apr-13 18:53:44

Happy Monday fledglings!
I had a lovely weekend, celebrated my birthday with a visit from my two sisters, so quite a lot of crisis cleaning flying ensued prior to their arrival.
Pleased with the results and hoping to keep things this way!
Efforts will be slightly thwarted this evening due to a power cut sad sad.
Hoping it will come back on soon or we will have to drive into town for dinner.

To Do:
Dishwashing and sink shining
Laundry reboot if electricity returns
School work - marking.
Sweep/vacuum/mop floors
Early night

Castlelough Mon 15-Apr-13 18:54:46

Ps I am thinking about poor Trazzles - would someone point me in the direction of her thread, as I don't know where it is blush

It's here Castle Trazzles

GoingGoingGoth Mon 15-Apr-13 19:46:44

Early update tonight, because I'm knackered. A good roll all today.

Back to work day for a lot of us including EllieTTF

Engels has a bad cough and cold, and wonders why small children always prefers boxes etc. to their actual toys.

Jdub is having a fresh start on a Monday.

Toffee is having her carpets cleaned today which inspired her to clean the whole house by the sound of it.

Ellesabe is back on the wagon

Bitchy has a worn out DS.so is going to 'be prepared' for tomorrow

baker is enjoying the weather, and is using it as an excuse to avoid the ironing (you know you're going to regret that, don't you?)

Castle has a great birthday weekend after last minute crisis cleaning. Long may the tidiness last.

WhoKnows is also about <waves>

I've just put a worn out (and grumpy) DD to bed. Hope tomorrow goes easier because my parents are coming to stay!!!!! grin

<waves back> - sorry to have been AWOL, school holidays plus three lots of overnight guests in a fortnight has meant chaos on the Flying front (although not CHAOS as we have had to keep it superficially under control for the visitors).

Anyway, DCs are back at school, jury service is finished and all the guests are home, so some semblance of normality is resuming - got to get the DCs to bed now but will pop back for a catch up later.

NickNacks Mon 15-Apr-13 19:49:47

New baby in the family! So happy- he's in special as expected but doing much better and weighing loads more than predicted. smile

LINKS FOR TUESDAY 16TH APRIL

Babystep 16 is about the Flylady emails. Don't sign up, you'll be inundated! For someone who doesn't like clutter, she does her best to fill your inbox grin

Daily focus for Tuesday is planning.

Today's Mission is to shine bathroom countertops & sinks, PLUS 5 minute throwing away in office (or another room)

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

Phew, hopefully an early night for me now.

GoingGoingGoth Mon 15-Apr-13 19:56:44

NickNacks great news re baby.

WhoKnows will let you off disappearing (this time grin) Doesn't MNing classify as a reason to get out of jury duty? It should!

ToffeeWhirl Mon 15-Apr-13 20:21:09

Goth - oh, I wish I had cleaned our whole house! The rooms where the carpets were cleaned look very tidy, but our bedroom is, as usual, the place where I've had to dump everything sad. I could spend all day tomorrow sorting it out, but have home ed to start on, so no chance. Will have to tiptoe round the mess for a few more days.

Have managed to keep up with my new routines today anyway. Made sure my new routine has times on it, to keep me on track.

Nicknacks - good news on the baby smile

Ellie - well done on coping with first day back at work.

WhoKnows - sounds like an exhausting holiday!

Bitchy - hope your planning day works out. I had one of those today and it has made me feel much more in control and less stressy.

Waves to everyone else. Must finish getting DS2 into bed and do evening routine. Am planning on bed at a decent time tonight.

NickNacks Mon 15-Apr-13 20:25:26

toffee I think you are amazing home eding! I truly don't know how you do it! smile

I'm still working sad A mum has got caught up at work and her poor little boy is still here. Have had to send mine to bed and he's just cuddled up on the sofa with me- bored out of his mind I should think but I've been working for 12 hours now and I just can't entertain any more sad

bakerofcakes Mon 15-Apr-13 20:33:30

Did today's mission while upstairs having a bath, swapped it round a bit though, 5 mins in the bathroom as I do try to keep it uncluttered in there, then 15 mins in DS bedroom. My son is in the forces, he comes home, creates havoc then clears off again. My grandchildren use his bedroom when he isn't there, so I have to keep it reasonably tidy and safe for little people. Put the bedding in the wash so it just needs a run over with the hoover now.

Right, I'm back.

Sorry, I haven't read all the thread properly for the past week or two so not sure what you are all up to, but the thread seems to be as busy as ever which is brilliant.

Over the two week holiday I really missed having some time to myself in the house, I have been really spoiled since the DCs started school and I usually manage at least half a day or so minus DCs in the holidays, not this time, I was either at work or on jury service or the whole family was here including visitors too (we've had two sets of in laws and a friend staying). We've had lots of days out swimming, bowling, Longleat, NT properties too.

Today the DCs went back to school and it was my fourth day of jury service. The case I was on finished at lunchtime and we were sent home for the day with instructions to phone in at 4 to see when we needed to report back in - I phoned only to be told I was no longer needed. Which was kind of weird because I had got quite friendly with some of my fellow jurors, we all went off at lunch time saying see you tomorrow and now I won't be. However it is good really, even just the short case I was on was tiring and I could have ended up doing another which was harder or more distressing, whereas now I can just get back to normal tomorrow. Head's a bit all over the place though.

Anyway, between DH and I we have been keeping on top of the general routines, cooking, shopping, washing etc but not much actual cleaning, so I need to get on with that again from tomorrow. I also go back to work tomorrow. Oh well.

ToffeeWhirl Mon 15-Apr-13 23:43:01

Nicknacks - to be honest, I found childminding much harder than home edding! I hope that little boy's mum turned up soon after you posted. Poor boy. And you must have been exhausted.

baker - you sound very organised!

WhoKnows - glad you've had a good holiday. Good luck back at work tomorrow.

Did really well with my routines tonight and was all set for 'bed at decent hour' when a wail from DS1 sent me scurrying upstairs. His OCD was tormenting him, so am now sitting with him, waiting for him to fall asleep, before I go to bed myself.

At least I have MN to keep me entertained...

CHBitchy Tue 16-Apr-13 05:11:32

WhoKnows thanks for the link; poor Trazzles and her family sad.

Well the power returned last night, and shortly afterwards the kettle went on fire! Got a bit of a fright and finally switched off the winky fridge freezer for fear it may end up doing the same thing. Landlady is going to have somebody look at it by Friday.... confused

Going to DMil's house for dinner this evening, so hoping to get a bit of flying in beforehand.
<leaves fresh coffee pot out to perk up all fledglings in need>

WhoKnows it sounds as though jury duty was s good experience for you smile. I have never been called...

ToffeeWhirl Tue 16-Apr-13 09:33:51

Well, didn't get the sleep I had hoped for last night. However, morning routines have been completed, DS2was at school on time and DS1 up, dressed and has had breakfast. About to get the washing on, have my own b/fast, then start home ed. Hope I can keep this up. It helps to have put times on my routines - keeps me focused.

Castle - eek, that sounds scary! Sorry the landlady isn't treating it with the urgency it obviously requires.

Bitchy - at least you made good use of your early start.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Jdub Tue 16-Apr-13 09:39:24

Apologies for absence yesterday. Not much flying done reason being I spent the early evening trying to help ds1 make up with a friend after a barney they had Saturday and the late evening writing a letter of complaint to ds's headteacher re an issue at the end of last term with how I was spoken to by the teacher and ta. Have not sent the email yet as not sure if I'm being pathetic but I do want her to know that I'm annoyed and the comments made I don't think were on.

Today I have done my morning routine and have done some detail. I hovered the walls, curtains and soft toys in the boys bedroom.
Now at work.
Bbl to catch up with everyone.

Waves to everyone from amidst heap of school admin and heap of stress and headache/indigestion remedies!!!

Hope return to work/school (for those of you not still on holiday) has not been too onerous - arrggh - s'cuse double negative/terrible grammar - tried to write this post three times today but keep getting interrupted

Sorry - still haven't caught up with thread (or got my mo-jo back - you know the one that made a brief appearance three wks ago!!) but big wing flaps to all!

Castle crikey - that electricity sounds lethal - be careful!!!

Bitchy - just crikey (at list!! smile )

Silvery when I write letters of complaint - I always write them and then leave 'em at least overnight - then go back and edit. Otherwise they tend to be too emotional/over-detailed - but you are probably a lot more concise than me (which wouldn't be difficult grin)!!

Whoknows glad you have survived jury service - I did it twice when I lived in London years ago and can still remember every minute of it now - neither was particularly violent or gruesome or anything (burglary + drug case) - but the responsibility of potentially sending someone to prison weighs v. v. heavily.

Jdub impressed by your chug, chug, chugging ...

Nicknacks congrats on newborn in family!! smile

Waves to Goth Toffee BakerofC Elliepac Ellesababe¨the other SC wink Louise Mumofthreemen Blue Engels Feetheart MrsBugsy Just and everyone else!!

Off now to attempt to reason with dd for nth time which will no doubt end in a shouting match [deep breaths] [sigh]

SilveryMoon Tue 16-Apr-13 18:46:37

Thanks Sc I doubt I am any better than you! I have made a few small changes, but still think it's too much, both too much detail (but I think it needs that for her to be able to get why I'm pissed off) and maybe too heavy, maybe I should make an appointment to see her so it's a little less formal.
Hope your mo-jo is here to stay.

GoingGoingGoth Tue 16-Apr-13 22:09:17

Evening all, very happy today as parents arrived here safe & sound. on the down side the council have ballsed upp made an error with our housing benefit claim, and have finished it a month early, PLUS they are now saying we owe them £1300!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arse, will have to spend a chunk of tomorrow sorting it out (not what I planned sad)

however on the plus side you lovely ladies have all been busy flying today.

baker incorporated the mission while upstairs having a bath. Her DS is in the forces, and when he comes home, he creates havoc then clears off again. So no hope for the rest of us that our DCs will suddenly start to be tidy

WhoKnows has had a really busy 2 weeks, with family and jury service. So just as she could do with a break...she starts back at work. wine?

Toffee like NickNacks I am in awe at your home edding, I tried it for a couple of months whilst we were at parents before the move, and it was exhausting! Hope DS1 settled ok last night, and sorry that you didn't get a good night.

Bitchy is doing stupidly long lists again. <ahem A&E?!> But on the other hand, good work! grin But you having a master plan disturbs me. <scared emocion>

Castle has had a burning kettle, hope the electrics are sorted now.

Jdub has had a productive day, chug chug chugging away

Silvery has been trying to sort out school issue, IMO you should send the email, if you feel annoyed, it may not change anything, but you've made your point.

SC is buried under school admin, hope the stress and headache/indigestion ease!

GoingGoingGoth Tue 16-Apr-13 22:15:54

LINKS FOR WEDNESDAY 17TH APRIL

Babystep 17 is to go to bed at a specific time (and I don't think she means 1am!)

Daily focus for Wednesday is anti-procrastination

Today's Mission is to shine our toilets!
Plus 5 Minute Room Rescue for the entrance/foyer area to get rid of the junk mail, newspapers, shoes, jackets etc.

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

SilveryMoon Tue 16-Apr-13 23:01:52

Ha sc
I did send the email, for just that reason, to make me feel better.
Thanks goth and thanks for links and roundups

ToffeeWhirl Wed 17-Apr-13 05:49:33

Managed to get to bed at a decent time, but then woke up at stupid o'clock angry. Why is it so difficult to get a full nights' sleep?

Thanks for the round up, Goth. I found home ed exhausting at first too, but - like any new job - have settled into it now. And at least I can have an INSET day whenever I want wink.

feetheart Wed 17-Apr-13 07:01:08

Morning everyone.

All back to school/normal here now and house survived reasonably well which is a first so I must be doing something right. Have even done some things in the garden!

Silvery - glad sending email made you feel better, hope you get a decent reply

Goth - hope sorting out the council is easier and quicker than you think

SC - hope DD was more cooperative than you expected hmm

Castle - shock at dodgy electrics and landlady's laidback attitude.

Bitchy - I am part way through transferring recipes from falling apart book to computer but keep adding new ones! Did Paul Hollywood's soda bread for dinner last night and DC scoffed half the loaf straight after school shock smile

Plan for today:
- All up and out (DH already gone)
- S&S, washing, washing up, etc
- Mince out of freezer
- Find letter from bank re appointment today - is somewhere in DH's hellhole of an office hmm
- Cancel appointment
- Phone calls I have been putting off
- Work - bank rec, statements plus bits and pieces
- Arrange for DD to be picked up from Guide camp on Sunday so DH and I can take DS to book festival to see Cressida Cowell - HUGE 'How to Train Your Dragon' fans here smile
- Book festival tickets
- Text friend re babysitting at thge end of the month
- Fill in scary school 'leave of absence' form for May - think school may have gone a leeeetle over the top in trying to discourage people from taking time off during term-time.

That's more than enough though not much Flying on there - ho hum!
Have a good day everyone.

superfluouscurves Wed 17-Apr-13 08:23:24

Sympathies Toffee only managed 3 hrs sleep myself ...gave up in the end and did some office billing Mnsetting instead. I think I would find sleep even more difficult if I was home edding though - as others have said - it's such a mahoosive undertaking/achievement. Hope you can catch up tonight or over next few days ... (maybe borrow neighbour's dog again - if that is still poss - and take relaxing walk????)

[Digression: had to laugh because intercepted four more office messages that came in overnight from the US to dh offering condolences on death of MrsT. DH is getting paranoid as he definitely favours Guardian over Telegraph -and he is getting increasingly worried about the impression his clients have of him - great opportunity for more office teasing today grin]

Thanks Feetheart dd has been 'contemplating' overnight and I will get to hear her answer this afternoon - I'm not hopeful. Not the end of the world and I am sure we will all laugh about this in years to come but she wants to give up ballet again (probs with a "popular" but rather unfriendly (towards dd) girl in the class) plus she is bored by "having to do the same thing over and over again" (how else does one learn I wonder?). I am encouraging her to finish term (only 10 wks to go) as agreed so that we can re-think all this during summer hols if she is unhappy. This term is the fun one - light nights - warmer weather - two different 'shows' of various kinds. I am honestly not pushy parent and don't anticipate dd being next Darcy Bussell or anything, but dd is really good at dancing and I hate to see her throw away something she is gifted at [not to mention all the time/money/effort already spent on it ...not that that should be relevant I suppose ...;grrrrrrr]

Hope you find the all important bank letter and glad return to school/work not too onerous - a testament to your good Flying habits!! smile

Oh yes - the above ballet issue is not the reason I am inhaling indigestion tablets btw - there's more serious stuff going on at school involving next year's admission which is far more stressful!!

Thanks for links Goth! DD is going to see an art exhibition with her class this morning so I have an extra hour in which to get stuff done (no school Wed pm here) but as it will take me at least 40 mins to list all the most urgent tasks, I think I will just get stuck in instead.

Hope everyone has a good anti-procrastination day!!

[Leaves out tray of brew and biscuit

superfluouscurves Wed 17-Apr-13 08:35:30

Meant to say to Goth good luck with housing admin stuff - hope you and your parents can still have a good day together!

Engelsemama Wed 17-Apr-13 08:49:19

Morning all - I am ill again. Stinking flu virus that has been going round all winter (I'm on round 4 now). Have decided that this time I am staying home instead of rushing back to school because I feel guilty about being off.

yesterday I spent the whole day curled up on the sofa and as always, when I am ill, the house falls apart. So, spending a little time today pottering to get house backk into liveable state.

Will certainly have time to catch up on thread though as I spend most of the day on the sofa.

To do
Fold the washing that has been in td since Sunday blush
Wash on
Washing up
Empty bin (full of tissues!)
MN
Finish reading 'Game of Thrones' and start on the next book in the series
Cough
Sneeze
Think about what I am going to ask DH to cook for dinner

superfluouscurves Wed 17-Apr-13 08:59:44

Oh no Engels!! [Hands over specially imported bottle of Lucozade and extra large pkt of Jacobs cream crackers] Good idea to take the time to recover properly - lots of these horrid bugs keep coming back. Hope you feel better soon!! flowers

ta da is very short so far
ds to school

do some more serious thinking

Hi all,

Thought I'd better make an attempt at getting back to flying, but make no promises as to the regularity of it!!! grin

Having to do a mad diy/declutterring/cleaning dash as I am looking for an au pair, so need the house to be somewhat presentable!

Tada:
Fed and watered DSs (no school, off sick today)
Load of washing
emptied and reloaded dishwasher

Off now to do some DIY stuff....

elliepac Wed 17-Apr-13 19:41:16

Today i have mainly been shitegrin.

Ta da:-
Absolutely feck all

To do:-
Absolutely fecking everything

However I am not actually going to do fecking anything. Work was mad and will continue to be for the next half term whilst trying to get Year 11 ready to pass.

I am going to wallow in a bath and watch masterchef.

LPlateFlyer Wed 17-Apr-13 20:32:24

Tada:
Lots of DIY

Todo:
Getting the house into some sort of respectable order..... (tomorrow....)

Engelsemama Wed 17-Apr-13 20:54:51

<buuuuuurp!> Thanks for that sc. Staying at home to get properly better.

SC - I know what you mean about the jury service, I first did it five years ago, a murder trial, not particularly gruesome or upsetting but every detail of the evidence is still firmly etched into my brain. The one I have just done was far less intense (an assault case) and far less difficult to resolve (an hour's deliberations versus two days last time), I don't think it will stay with me in the same way at all. Nice to be getting back to normal routines again now. Hope DD comes to her senses re ballet.

Engels - hope you feel better soon

Goth - hope you got the HB cockup sorted out.

Ta-da!

Morning routine
School run
Stayed to help with reading
Into town for errands
Home and half an hour or so of OU work (distracted)
Cleaned bathroom minimal effort not much more than swish and swipe
Mopped kitchen and bathroom floors
Washing x 1
Went for a slow, short run (am restricted due to various injuries)
Had a shower
Booked car parking for hols
School run
Play with DCs
Tea
DD to Brownies
Dinner for me plus an hour's gardening (long overdue)
Fetch DD from Brownies
Put Ocado order away
Try and find DS's football kit for tomorrow (partial fail)
MAde two packed lunches for tomorrow

Phew!

GoingGoingGoth Wed 17-Apr-13 21:52:34

Evening all, well we've had a lovely sunny day here in Glasgow <laughs manically>, it has pissed it down all day, got soaked on the way to school, on the way to the Jobcentre for my 'self-employment' interview, so I gave up on a trip to the housing benefit office until tomorrow as I knew I'd get wet again! Finally dried up after dinner, so we went for a quick walk around the park. But had a lovely day with the parents planning what we will do for the rest of the week.

feet made soda bread last night, yum! and is going to see Cressida Cowell envy big fans of HTTYD too. So looking forward to the next book (erm I mean Dd is)
I think anything you put on your list counts, if it needs doing it's Flying.

SC only had 3 hrs sleep, but did get some admin done.

Engels is ill again. Probably best if you do stay off work and get properly better. .

Bitchy got a decent night's sleep, which is great, but has a really long list, and if she says it's long.......
Quick clarification required: Is it giggling or more 'mwah ha ha ha' re the master plan? shock

LPlateFlyer is back with us again, gots lots of DIY completed dispite having poorly DSs. Hope they get better soon.

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

CHBitchy Thu 18-Apr-13 01:01:29

Ah wouldn't you like to know goth <sticks tongue out>
<strokes the top page of the master plan>

superfluouscurves Thu 18-Apr-13 07:53:11

Grrrrrrrrrrraaahhhhhhhhhhwwwwwaagggggggggh!!!!

Me this morning: why on earth are you watching telly?
DD: because I'm nearly ready
Me: have you had your shower, brushed your hair and done your teeth?
DD: (sitting in her pyjamas) I'm ready apart from all that
*******************************************

Me yesterday: put your hair clips/shoes/form badge etc where we can find them
DD: I've put them in the bathroom
Me this morning: where are your hair clips/shoes/form badge etc?
DD: [shrugs]

*****************************************
Me yesterday: put the library books you need in your school bag
DD: I've already done that
Me this morning: Why are you running upstairs now, when we are late?
DD: because I need my library books

******************************************
Me yesterday: Do you have you any homework?
DD: "No" (shows me blank Agenda)
Me this morning: Why are you crying?
DD: because I have a French test test I haven't revised for
Me: Why didn't you revise yesterday afternoon?
DD: Because I forgot

[SC goes and sits in darkest area of naughty corner, hooks herself up to intravenous caffeine drip and attacks large virtual doughnut]

CHBitchy Thu 18-Apr-13 08:12:01

<passes SC her emergency stash of chocolate and joins her bringing a pile of soft cushions and blankies>

Yeah Antibiotics have made me feel worse rather then better. Proves I needed them though. Def sinus infection <spares details>

clothes sort

Have a good day everyone x

feetheart Thu 18-Apr-13 11:40:00

SC - HUGE, HUGE sympathies. Is it too early for gin?
DS is like that. He is a bit younger than your DD but I don't see him being any other way - he is just very 'here and now' in his head and seems unable to think things through any further.
I feel much sitting on my hands tough love is going to be needed.

Engels - hope you feel better soon. DO NOT rush back until you are better <<bossy voice needed>>

Bitchy - you too, though I think even scary bossy voice won't work smile

Goth - hope you get council cock-up sorted without getting soaked

List for today:
- All up and out - done
- Washing - done
- Work - done
- MFP started again after over a year - done
- S&S, sweep kitchen floor, washing up, washing out
- Into town to collect World Book Night books - excited smile
- Make macaroni cheese and cook bacon
- DC to diving
- Dinner
- DD to Guides
- Sort out Book Festival tickets with DS as he needs to choose some of the workshops

It's DD's first night as a Guide and the timing is going to be a challenge. DS finishes diving at 6pm and after a shower we are usually home by 6.30pm. Dinner has to be ready as soon as we get in (thank goodness for timers on ovens!) and DD has to be ready to leave by 7pm we think. It is doable on paper but in practice - who knows?

Best get on, have a good day.

LPlateFlyer Thu 18-Apr-13 12:15:09

Good afternoon everyone! (Where has the bleeding morning gone???!!!)

WhoKnows and SC - I can relate to what you say about trials staying with you. I worked in prosecutions office many years ago as a secretary, and there's a number of cases that have really stuck with me over the years. It's was nearly 20 years ago now so I guess they're stuck with me forever.... I'm trying to not let it make me overprotective of my DSs though.

tada:
Fed and watered DSs
School/nursery run
quick shopping trip
make and delivery lunches hmm (that's what you get for being disorganised and running out of bread for school lunches - ANOTHER trip to school and nursery!!)

Sitting here having a cup of tea and my lunch, and browsing MN for a bit before I hit the cleaning...

LPlateFlyer Thu 18-Apr-13 12:16:36

Thanks for the welcome back Goth

DSs had a stomach bug on Monday so had to see the 48 hours through. They looked and acted perfectly fine! Thank goodness for Netflix....! grin

Hi all. Back from the Book Fair, which was fab. No idea if any work will come from it but lots of fun. Now got a mountain of work, emails and admin to catch up on so no flying for a bit!

[Tray of brew and biscuit on the bar - extra strong for SC ]

CHBitchy Thu 18-Apr-13 13:22:31

Afternoon. I have been behaving. spent the morning on strong painkillers asleep. Am feeling better for it. Going to get a hot bath and a coffee and some breakfast. will be all I managed before ds gets out of school. Then I have the joys of sitting down to do his homework with him. Yay. NOT.

It is good to have you back LPlate. Was wondering how you were doing.

superfluouscurves Thu 18-Apr-13 15:40:43

[SC, who hasn't been behaving grin gratefully snaffles Bitchy's chocolate, Blue's brew and biscuit, and glugs Feetheart's gin]

[Hic]

[And girds her loins for the evening battles discussions concerning tennis and homework]

superfluouscurves Thu 18-Apr-13 15:56:49

bitchy arf re: Bond villainesque master plan. Good you are feeling bit better - sinus pain the pits

You are impressively organised today Jdub (esp given late start)

Thanks Feetheart you'd think I'd be able to handle one dc wouldn't you? Not enjoying parenting this week and it's only week one of summer term [sigh] She is a different child in the holidays. [starts ranting and swigging more gin]
Good luck to your dd at Guides tonight - hope she enjoys her first session - and good luck to you re: logistics!!

Hellooo again Lplate Glad your ds feeling better!

Blue Do you go to Frankfurt book fair by any chance? [Sorry if you already do this/are on top of this]. Bit dreary in terms of surroundings but entire London publishing scene decamps there for a week every Oct: loads of deals done and contracts signed, business card swaps etc

Waves to everyone else. Have done minimumFlying/dieting today Hearts not in it. blush Going to try and redeem myself and produce something ineresting for dinner.

CHBitchy Thu 18-Apr-13 16:02:06

Unfortunately didn't last. Very grateful I made three different lots of tea last night so there is nothing to do tea wise here. I would love to curl up in bed and just sleep. Have to take ds out to do some shopping sad

Ds is also a different child in the holidays. School stresses him out entirely. Not a good thing.

superfluouscurves Thu 18-Apr-13 16:07:45

[gives back bitchy's fluffy pillows and blankets and creates nest for her return]

SilveryMoon Thu 18-Apr-13 18:35:34

Hello smile
TaDa
Up and made beds
swished and swiped
showered and dressed (then worked out i didn't wash the conditioner out of my hair so had to bend over the bath when dressed and face on angry)

Went to work

Cooked dinner

I will be back to catch up.

[Continues publishing tangent] Would love to go to Frankfurt but London was enough of a logistical nightmare, SC]

Hope Guides goes/went well, Feet. DS1 went for a try-out at Beavers this evening & had a whale of a time. smile

Sorry you've been struggling Bitchy.

<Puts out more brew and starts on the wine >

GoingGoingGoth Thu 18-Apr-13 20:38:54

Hi all, links 1st tonight, will do roundup later.

LINKS FOR FRIDAY 19TH APRIL

Babystep 19 is to read the testimonials (I think)

Daily focus for Friday is to declutter your car and purse.

Today's Mission is to clear off the flat surfaces in the bathroom. PLUS 5 Minute Rescue for your Craft/Project area.

Flight Plan for today.

CHBitchy Thu 18-Apr-13 21:21:02

<wanders in, curls up in nest thoughtfully left by SC> Thanks much appreciated! <falls asleep>

GoingGoingGoth Thu 18-Apr-13 21:40:55

SC spent the morning in the naughty corner hiding away from teenagers/daughters, which is quite understandable. DD is also away with the fairies most every morning.

Bitchy has a sinus infection-yuck. Hope you feel better soon. And her highlight today was assisting with DS's homework! grin

Jdub has had a busy day, despite a late start.

feet hope Guides went well and the timings went well.

LPlateFlyer is all clear after the dreaded 48 he's after DSs stomach bugs.

Blue is from the Book Fair and will hopefully get some work will from it

Silvery produced another impressive list, even if she did forget to rinse out her hair conditioner whilst in the shower.

LPlateFlyer Thu 18-Apr-13 22:37:08

Thanks for the welcome Bitchy and SC.

I've been struggling going back to work. Tis hard when you aren't actually earning money.... We'll sign a contract soon and all will be good. (It's my new mantra...wink) Meanwhile I need to buy some Sage software. (Now why do I have the Abba song 'Money, Money, Money' on constant repeat in my head hmm)

My ankle is a lot better after my spectacular tumble down the stairs in December. Physio is finished, thank goodness. She bloomin well hurt. angry Still sore and swollen, it still can't take all that much, sadly. Ah well, they said it would take the better part of a year to get to a decent stage of improvement.

Tada
2 x loads of wash
15 minutes in kitchen
15 minutes in dining room
Put away all clean clothing (at least 4 loads blush)
tidy dining table
declutter lounge floor of toys
sweep lounge floor
wrap DH's birthday present
bake cake for DH's birthday.
4 x loads through dishwasher

Now I'm off for a bath, DH very sweetly filled it up for me while I did some work on the computer.

CHBitchy Fri 19-Apr-13 08:15:46

today I will either be residing in the naughty corner or drinking too much coffee. I haven't decided which yet. Ds got diary of a wimpy kid the other day. Getting him to do anything other then read is hard work. I am glad that he enjoys reading but getting his nose out of the book to eat / put clothes on is kinda important on school day. <sigh>

Jdub Fri 19-Apr-13 11:02:18

Hi everyone,
Can't believe Friday is here already...I always like the optimistic hope that I'll get loads done on a Friday evening, leaving the weekend abit free-er! Here's hoping!
done
slow cooker on
d/w on (please OH, unload it when it's done!)
washing away
all up, fed and out (on time-ish)

to do this wknd
meal plan
filing
hoover
floor wash
dust
drawer sort
clothes clear out
washing (lots)
change our bed
sew on swimming patches
carry on reading my new book

Have a lovely day and a great wknd x

superfluouscurves Fri 19-Apr-13 12:14:43

I know what you mean Jdub I always have the feeling I will do more in the week and then the w/e arrives in the blink of an eye. And I always delude myself I will get more done in the holidays ... and then I don't ... and then I delude myself I will get more done in term time .... and ditto. You'd have thought I'd have learnt by now ...blush Am impressed by your slow cooking (v organised)

Too right Goth dd is a 9 yr old going on 15!! She was such an easy baby too ..[sighs nostalgically]

Hope your ds could be prised away from his book this morning Bitchy and that you can recover a bit more today

Sorry work is a struggle at the moment Lplate but hopefully it will be worth it in the end. Good news about your leg too. You have been through the mill recently.

I can imagine Blue trade shows always completely exhausting

Encouraging wing flaps to one and all.

Warning: the most boring paragraph ever written follows:
I've got to work for the rest of the day (admin) but I have been trying to put the boudoir back to rights this morning as a few piles of clothes and stepladders confused and suitcases have landed where they shouldn't. Have also been on the 'great grey school sock hunt' - dd has recently switched from tights to socks but all her socks from last year seem to have disappeared. Fish for supper. That was scintillating wasn't it?

HAve a good w/e everyone.

ToffeeWhirl Fri 19-Apr-13 14:50:13

Today's list has been devoted to kitten prep grin. We are going away for the weekend and collecting our new kitten on Sunday [excited emoticon].

Hope you all have a good weekend.

SilveryMoon Fri 19-Apr-13 20:00:56

Evening.
Not much done here today, usual morning routine, work etc.
I have done the food shop for next week, but nothing other than that.
Have 3 mission/detail sessions to catch up on, not sure that'll happen either.
the good news is, I have wine so camping out in the naughty corner where I won't see a dirty kitchen floor, a huge pile of ironing, an un-shiny sink or the general shit littering up my flat.
<cheers>

GoingGoingGoth Fri 19-Apr-13 21:00:03

Evening all, just back from a lovely meal with the family at the local hotel, it was such a lovely evening, we went for a walk round the park afterwards, DD was charging round like a lunatic. I feel absolutely stuffed now, but thought I better pop in before doing the ironing. Off across to Fife tomorrow to visit my Gran. It will be the first time she's seen DD blush but to be honest they've had such bad weather over there since we came up.

LPlate so pleased your ankle is improving, just take it slow and steady, you don't want to overdo it and set yourself back.

Bitchy has a compulsive reader in DS, know that feeling, we are having to visit the library about 2 a week at the moment, and I am sick of saying 'put the book down you need to...get dressed/washed/eat/go to bed.

Jdub hope your Friday evening was productive and that you get a fun weekend.

SC is trying to bore us, but doesn't realise that we are so very interested stalkers in her life

Toffee collects a new kitchen on Sunday <squeals>

Silver has been sticking to her routines, I'm sure it won't matter missing the routines occasionally, sometime life just gets in the way (that's my excuse anyway)

GoingGoingGoth Fri 19-Apr-13 21:08:18

LINKS FOR SATURDAY 20TH APRIL

Babystep 20 is to laundry in your morning and evening routines. I try to wash a load in the evening (or set it up to go 1st thing) ready to be hung out in the morning. And then iron in the evening, so the clothes can then 'air' overnight, ready to be folded and put away the next morning.

No Mission as the Daily focus is Family Fun Day

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

Evening all. Have been flat out with work all day and then stupidly took on another urgent job for one of my favourite clients, which will take out most of tomorrow too. House going to chaos in a handcart but CBA - flying fail!

Toffee - glad you've found a pet you can all agree on.

Going - hope you have a lovely day tomorrow.

Big waves to all.

LPlateFlyer Sat 20-Apr-13 07:59:52

Toffee - ooh, a new kitten! grin So much fun! What will he/she look like <curious cat over here!!!>

I so want to get a pair of kittens, but feel we need to wait until the house is a little bit more decorated. Now that the weather is warming up we can do more decorating as we can work in a 'well ventilated room'. hmm (Try working in a well ventilated room over this last winter!!!)

I did absolutely the bare minimum yesterday, as in London all day.

3x loads of washing (still sitting out though)
Dishwasher loaded and unloaded
Dinner for everyone purchased on the way home (yummm, Wasabi...)
Out for a mum's night out with other school mums.

Now lying in my bed a little bored. Not allowed to get up as all the 'boys' have gone downstairs to make me a cup of tea and will come and wake me up for my birthday. A good plan except that I always wake up before all of them - so I stashed my laptop by the side of my bed to give me something to look at while I waited for everyone else to stir.

Tado:
Be spoilt rotten grin

CHBitchy Sat 20-Apr-13 10:54:24

happy birthday LPlate!

ta da

drinking a lot of coffee today. it's a long story...

Castlelough Sat 20-Apr-13 11:25:20

Morning!
Sorry for my absence for most of the week blush. Very poor effort.

<am glad I am leading the thread for May, as I need a kick up the behind blush>

Worked til late last night for DH (pub) so am just thinking of crawling out of bed now blush.

To Do:
*Breakfast
*Feed horses (I am late blush but they were moved to a new 5 acre field yesterday and aren't going hungry!)
*Clean/tidy kitchen (chaos reigns)
*Reboot laundry
*Get car checked (strange sloshing noise since I drove through a flood multiple times and repeat MOT on Monday...)
*Go to town - retail therapy smile. Birthday money from my parents and a voucher from my sisters is burning a hold in my pockets!

Hopefully I'll be back with a decent ta/da list for a change !

Castlelough Sat 20-Apr-13 11:27:27

Ps Happy Birthday LPlate xx

SilveryMoon Sat 20-Apr-13 13:08:51

Happy birthday Lplate
The national Trust are having a free entry day today so we are at osterley house. Just having lunch in the gardens before I try to take the boys back in. They were not impressed.
Lovely day though

Ellietryingtofly Sat 20-Apr-13 17:19:04

Ok so have spent a significant amount of time sleeping in the naughty corner this week.... DP has announced he's coming home with his friend and his friends daughter to play with DD so lots of panic tidying! Dreaming about a company ready house.....

Well I decided to tackle my house like a pro... I now in the bath! Decided I could make myself look presentable and then worry about the house grin xXx

superfluouscurves Sat 20-Apr-13 17:19:40

Many happy returns Lplate wine thanks [rowdy singing] Hope you have a lovely day!

Aw at kitten Toffee

Lovely day for horse care and maintenance Castle envy Please direct kick up backside in this direction!

[snaffles piece of Bitchys coffee cake]

Gardens sound lovely Silvery

Hope you are having a lovely day with your gran Goth

Waves to Blue and everyone else

Hope you are OK Just if you happen to be lurking (although you are probably too busy for that)

So far racing from Ayr (Scottish Grand National today) has superseded any Flying blush Sadly, Aurora's Encore couldn't do the double (only Red Rum has managed that I think)

Last week was so stressful (school dd related) that I made very little progress in the house (or with the diet and exercise) and I have just given myself a horrible fright by studying calendar (knew there was a subconcious reason why I didn't want to do this) - just realised that we have friends coming to visit in two weeks not three as I had thought- oh gaawd. And next weekend is backed tight.

It's one step forward, three steps back atm!

[SC clambers up nearest hill to viewing point, dog-whistle at the ready, desperately seeking lost mo-jo]

superfluouscurves Sat 20-Apr-13 17:22:53

x posts Ellietryingtofly Speaking as someone who has to reposition bags of dry concrete before guests arrive and cordon off dangerous holes in the floor - you have my full sympathy!!

[Falls in to reverie and repeats mantra "a company ready house" "a company ready house" "a company ready house" - aaahhhhhhh]

Castlelough Sat 20-Apr-13 17:47:35

Argh! Everything I touch seems to break this weather....sitting in town, in car, which has decided to break. Grrrrrrr.

Had made a happy purchase of a very lovely dress with the bday money and some sportswear to motivate me to get rid of my jelly belly so that I can actually look nice in said dress...

Now I'm waiting for DH and a tow truck sad.

sadsadsad

superfluouscurves Sat 20-Apr-13 19:52:21

Oh no Castle Hope you get home soon!

At least now you're not driving any longer ... you can have some wine wine wine or three

superfluouscurves Sat 20-Apr-13 19:52:53

Oh dear ... hic ... that was three

...or four then ... hic wine

Castlelough Sat 20-Apr-13 21:26:36

Finally got home, house is in the chaos I left it in sad.
Am ignoring the three types of unopened oven cleaner I unearthed in the cupboard before I went out. Am stuck here now tomorrow, carless, so should manage some flying...
<pours out a glass of wine and joins SC in the naughty corner grin>

GoingGoingGoth Sat 20-Apr-13 21:59:53

LPlate Happy Birthday to youuuuuu! <warbles> Hope you had a good day.

Blue did the urgent work go ok?

Bitchy mmm coffee cake, that's definately on my to do list now.

Castle planned spending her Birthday money, always fun, and got a lovely dress, on the down side the car broke own sad Hope you got one ok.

Silvery had a lovely day at osterley house. DCs never seem to appreciate national trust

EllieTTF had a short notice guests arriving.

SC has been following the Scottish Grand National today, which sounds like a well deserved break with the busy week you've had and have planned! Probably why you are loosing count of the wine

I am shattered after today, but was good to see my Gran, Dd really took to her and it was good to catch up. However I am exhausted. Have to go into work tomorrow for some training, so DD is spending the day with the parents.

GoingGoingGoth Sat 20-Apr-13 22:04:41

LINKS FOR SUNDAY 21ST APRIL

Babystep 21 is to read the Ask FlyLady page

No Mission as the Daily focus is Renew you spirit day.

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

DorisShutt Sun 21-Apr-13 09:34:46

Hello! May I join in?

I'm a WAHM, but am now going back to work in the office for a few days a week, and looking for ways to feel less confused shock blush about my house.

It's not terrible - but equally anyone indicating they're coming round and a whole load of stuff gets bunged into a box and hidden in my bedroom.

I've had a browse round the FlyLady site (and I've not subscribed to the emails!) and ordered the book (I'm a book nut blush) and I have a cupboard full of dusty and unused sprays and products...

CHBitchy Sun 21-Apr-13 13:21:27

Welcome aboard Doris. Most of us prefer not to subscribed but there are a few that have found the emails useful. Although more people on here have found the book really helpful for explaining the system. Just ignore her vomit inducing cutesy language. wink

After a nightmare day here I am only just considering getting up. Ds has presented me with one piece of homework but I am not happy with the standard. Though as he has 4 more pieces to do today I haven't the time and energy to get him to redo it. Personally I could go back to bed and sleep so am very glad that there is some coffee cake left.

Quick welcome to Doris grin Come join the madness fun wink

NickNacks Sun 21-Apr-13 16:15:25

Feeling very proud but knackered! Spent the weekend swapping the bedrooms over as planned. Mostly done but just things like curtains to move over along with poles and a few pieces of furniture to take to the dump. That can be dhs job when he gets home. smile

SilveryMoon Sun 21-Apr-13 16:16:44

Wow! Well done Nick How are they looking? What did you go for for room divider?

NickNacks Sun 21-Apr-13 17:46:28

Really tidy at the moment! They have a football table (you know like Joey and Chandler) and have put that against the chimney breast so they have their 'own side' each but still come together and play on it. When they get a bit older they might want something more dividing and I'll find something taller then.

SilveryMoon Sun 21-Apr-13 17:50:11

That sounds great. Fingers crossed they keep it tidyish

elliepac Sun 21-Apr-13 20:09:48

I'm here. I'm still shite at flying. Will try again tomorrowgrin.

GoingGoingGoth Sun 21-Apr-13 21:52:36

Welcome DorisShutt Please feel free to join us, just jump in and do what you are able, you'll soon find we all dip in and out of Flying. Personally I prefer our little group to the website (especially when NOT doing the links grin)

Bitchy has had a bad start to the day, hope it got better.

Silvery was child free until 3, and can't we tell from the size of the ta-da list!

NickNacks finished the bed room swap, and it sounds great.

elliepac signed in, remember tomorrow is a fresh week and May can always be the new January grin I'm sure there's cake, wine & biscuit in the naughty corner. Only 9 more days left of April shock

Castlelough Sun 21-Apr-13 21:57:02

Good evening everyone! Hope your Sundays have been nice and restful!

I came out of the naughty corner late last night, invigorated, wine at the ready, and sprayed and wiped out my oven several times and soaked the racks with the Oven Pride kit. shock

And then I swept the house, washed the --copious amount of--dishes and tidied the kitchen.

Today, apart from more Oven rescuing, cooking and dishwashing, I have made hood inroads on the laundry pile.

Went for a lovely nap at 8pm and just going to get up now and do the essentials of my before-bed routine to get me off to a good start this week smile.

NickNacks well done on the room swap - that's a big job!

Evening.

Today has been mostly good. Nice roast dinner and cleaned the kitchen up afterwards. Took the boys to the park so DS1 could practice riding his bike - doing pretty well at it, with a few scrapes. Got a bit of work done too.

Need to get some flying done, but I suspect I will mostly be in the naughty corner until the end of April as that's my deadline...

Glad to hear the bedroom swap has worked well, NickNacks

Hi to Doris. smile

Going - the urgent job was fine, but still have the other, bigger and nearly as urgent job to do. Hey ho.

<Collapses in the corner with Ellie and Bitchy...>

Castlelough Sun 21-Apr-13 22:06:09

Welcome Doris by the way and wingflaps to Goth, Elliepac, Bitchy, Silvery and anybody else who may be about.

<leaves a pitcher of iced water and pain killers on naughty corner bar for SC >

Toffee has the new kitten arrived yet? grin

Yes Goth I am hoping that May will be the new January, for me anyway.
<scurries off to find Silvery's post in March thread teaching how to post a link. Nine days to learn - yikes! shock >

GoingGoingGoth Sun 21-Apr-13 22:07:54

LINKS FOR MONDAY 22ND APRIL

Babystep 22 is to continue your control journal.

Daily focus for Monday is the Weekly Bleugh.

We're in Zone 4 this week, the Master Bathroom; detailed cleaning list

Today's Mission is a 15 minute tidy up in the bedroom.

Flight plan for our routines, should update automatically

GoingGoingGoth Sun 21-Apr-13 22:15:05

UPDATE UPDATED!

Castle has been Flying high. I always feel a clean oven is a big achievement. You'll be fine in May. If I can do links, so can you. I do them the second way in the list below (and double check through preview)

Blue has had a productive day

SilveryMoon Sun 21-Apr-13 23:09:47

How is it I spent so long doing housework today (even did the ironing and all the things left on my list from earlier) but now the place looks like it did last night?
Well, not quite that bad but the kitchen looks like a bombs hit it.

Castle - yes! grin He is very, very cute - and very vocal! He spent the first hour hiding in our shoe rack, poor thing, but has since explored the downstairs. Then DH decided to take him upstairs to sleep in DS1's bedroom and the poor thing was so freaked out, he rushed downstairs and hid in the shoe rack again. He is sleeping peacefully now, with DS1 sleeping on a mattress on the floor beside him. Am not sure how much sleep either of them will get, but so long as I get sleep, I don't care!

DS1 is very, very happy smile. He has wanted a pet for so long and can't quite believe this kitten belongs to us.

Haven't done any Flying as the entire weekend was taken up with Operation Kitten. Am not sure how much formal home ed will happen tomorrow, but I think it's going to be a fun day.

Castlelough Mon 22-Apr-13 08:19:26

Oh Toffee I am delighted to hear that! gringringrin Cats really are a lot less responsibility than dogs in the long run, too. Although I used to fret so much about mine as a kitten - I lived near a busy road, in an estate, and before I adopted him he had gone into a car engine and travelled miles and damaged his hip/leg which never healed up. I worried about letting him out (he was about 5-6 months) and even bought a little cat lead to 'walk' him at night, as I was too embarrassed to do this during the day!! but he ended up being just fine! They quickly learn where their bread is buttered! Oh have fun!!! Home Ed-ing could take the form of kitten research today (or why not let ds start a wee blog about his kitty and kitty's escapades?!)

superfluouscurves Mon 22-Apr-13 09:13:55

Aw Castle about your kitten's escapade in the car engine! Thanks for painkillers btw - sadly only takes two glasses of red to get me completely pie-eyed these days! Can't mix drinks any more either ... Don't worry about May - you will be brill! smile Congrats on your productive weekend.

Toffee glad you have a pet at last that suits all the family and that your ds1 is so happy! smile at them sleeping together!

Blue well done re: work + bike riding tuition

Silvery yes it's the ground hog aspects of it that get one down

Nicknacks new room arrangement sounds fab!!

Me too Ellie!!

Sympathies Bitchy flowers Am totally exhausted by having the same battles over and over and over again concerning v. basic things such as homework, bathing, hair and teeth brushing, getting things ready the night before. DD appears to listen and comply ... and then, the next time, does exactly the same thing... arrrgggghhhhh.

A very warm welcome to Doris

Big waves to Goth and everyone else!

I am in a such a tizz about school stress/crap state of house/ forthcoming guests/lack of cleaning help (long story)/mahoosively busy calendar that I am deliberately not posting a list here because all the hideousness will then become real grin.

superfluouscurves Mon 22-Apr-13 09:26:25

A warm welcome to ChocolatePorridge Think I got mine from Amazon UK. If you are UK-based, that'll probably be the quickest. Have a good holiday!

Hi, I am swanthin-/swanr!

I'm back. Partly due to springcleaning, partly because I am very bored without you all. It has been a horrible long cold winter - I'm so looking forward to getting back into garden too...

Oh and I see that Toffee has a kitten! Wow! We have kittens here too, four little 4 week - soon to go to homes in a month or so - kittens...They are adorable, just beginning to prance around and play elaborate games. Our last year's kitten is now 1 year old, called Ferdinand and he's draped over a chair peacefully after shinning up various trees in the garden for breakfast.

I have a NEW KITCHEN. In a new room(old playroom) in the house opening onto garden, and finally there is a utility room where the old kitchen used to be, so we have had major building work and upheaval, though luckily (in retrospect) no extension. Which might have lead to divorce. Tbh I don't think any of us could have coped with an extension. Not cut out for project management that's for sure....

So loads to sort out. Dh is in Berlin atm visiting his parents.

list
will start with putting clothes away
and stripping sheets
ring rubbish collection company!

LPlateFlyer Mon 22-Apr-13 10:19:01

Aw, you guys....!!! blush Thanks!

It was a lovely day. We were so lucky with the weather. Had lunch with some friends in a beer garden and spent 4 hours sitting there chatting and drinking while our 2 and their 2 DSs ran around the lawn area like loons.

Welcome Doris and Chocolate! (Mmmm, chocolate......)

Toffee - I imagine my DSs will be the same when we get our kittens. DS1 especially!

Not much flying done - too nice to be indoors over the weekend - so yesterday we cleaned out the pond. Turns out we have 20 large newts in there, and about 6 small ones which look like the last of last year's babies who weren't grown up enough to leave the pond over winter, and managed to survive the awful winter. Good thing we kept breaking the ice on the top.

Working from home today, so not sure how much flying I'll get done, but do have a few things that MUST get done. Will update later with what I imagine will be a ridiculously small Tada list.

superfluouscurves Mon 22-Apr-13 10:24:10

Swan is that really you?????!!!! grin flowers Yay!!! You've been missed!!! Thread not the same without you! [Swathes Swan in garlands of flowers and proffers champagne]

Great to hear that you (and dh) have survived house remodelling - a kitchen looking on to the garden sounds lovely!!

Yo Jdub Great to hear you sound so chipper! The sun makes all the difference doesn't it?

superfluouscurves Mon 22-Apr-13 10:25:28

xpost

Great you had such a good birthday Lplate. I now have newt envy! grin

ToffeeWhirl Mon 22-Apr-13 10:36:25

Swan! Wonderful to have you back. I missed your presence on the thread. So glad to hear you have a sparkly new kitchen and kittens!

Castle - that's a great idea about DS keeping a kitten blog. I'll suggest that to him. I completely understand your anxiety about letting your cat out. I didn't get that at all, but now I have this little thing, I'm worrying myself. He won't be let out for months though (if I ever pluck up the courage), so I don't need to fret about that yet.

DS1 slept with the kitten last night and didn't get a lot of sleep. I think he was just too excited and worried about the kitten. He's exhausted today and I'm encouraging him to go back to bed later and catch up.

Kitty is very noisy! He is chatting non-stop at us and has started exploring upstairs. He's a very feisty little thing. He is incredibly sweet and has the bluest eyes. Even my DH, who never wanted a pet in the first place, has been won over. DS2 is still holding out, but I'm sure he'll weaken in the end.

Just about to start morning chores, hopefully (unless kitty has other ideas).

Hope you all have a good day.

ToffeeWhirl Mon 22-Apr-13 10:37:15

Oh, and not a sign of my cat allergy! It's amazing. grin

CHBitchy Mon 22-Apr-13 12:32:25

Sounds good to me. How is ds and the kitten doing?

ToffeeWhirl Mon 22-Apr-13 12:48:40

Both have flaked out after their rather lively first night smile.

What sort of cake are you making us? <hungry>

inthewildernessbuild Mon 22-Apr-13 13:36:48

I'm here to WORK not have fun...blush but thank you for the lovely welcome blushflowers SC and Bitchy.

okay... I have done some plodding organising. Not much but phoned some blardy paperwork chasing up for ds1 and dyspraxia
phoned rubbish co
paid gas bill
started tidying ds1's room

Unfortunately I feel unbelievably tired today, and a slight feeling a panic at all the stuff I need to get done before the children come home and make the mess even worse...
Also there is no food, as usual sad[useless]
unless I suppose I could make a chicken casserole now that Dh is absent or shall I call it chicken cacciatore to make it sound better hmm I remember a cc discussion on this thread a while back grin

toffee very good move to let ds sleep with kitten. I always slept with kitten for first few nights, I think they find it very scary being alone at first in new house, unless there is two of them!

3 x loads of washing

And that's it.

Quite pathetic really. <slopes off to naughty corner and waits for the party to kick off>

ToffeeWhirl Mon 22-Apr-13 14:34:25

Will you still have the energy for a party, Bitchy? shock

swan / wilderness - yes, I agree about the kitten being scared - although he seems to be making it his own remarkably quickly! I like the way he finds places to tuck himself away and sleep (first shoe rack and now underneath the sofa).

And I never have any food either, but that's because I have given up thanks to my fussy family, which has put me off cooking for life sad.
